The Duchess of Cambridge is ‘more willing to experiment’ with fashion according to expert

The Duchess of Cambridge’s style has evolved over the last year and her brave new approach to fashion has seen her catapult up the style ranks.

And, according to Fashion Editor and Stylist, Antonia Krasowski, a major part in her transformation has been the appointment of a new stylist – Virgina Chadwyck-Healy, who was previously Fashion Editor at Vogue.

She says, “Previously Kate stuck to staple designers such as Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham. She had certain brands that she didn’t deviate from.

“More recently she has been pictured in much more trendy and fashion-led brands such as Alessandra Rich.”

With her regular stylist, Natasha Archer, on maternity leave (according to Tatler), Virginia seems keen to encourage braver fashion choices from Kate.

Antonia explains, “Kate has become much more daring with her style and is even mixing in pieces from the High Street – including a very on-trend Zara jeweled headband.”

Having given birth to three children – Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four and Prince Louis, one, the Duchess has settled into her life as a mother and is ready to reclaim her identity.

“She’s more comfortable in her style and more willing to experiment," says our expert.

And it’s not gone unnoticed by fans that have branded the mum-of-three “style goals” on Twitter.

The Duchess of Sussex, on the other hand, Antonia believes is finding it more “difficult” to adapt her style from a Hollywood actress to a royal.

“I think she’s finding the cross over from her own style of ripped jeans and boyfriend shirts to a more formal approach to her wardrobe quite difficult. It will be interesting to see if she’s willing to ditch the jeans next year.”

Despite having a couple of “missteps” this year, our expert says Meghan’s collaboration with Smart Works – a capsule collection created in partnership with Jigsaw, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer – was a nod to how much the Duchess of Sussex is embracing the British high street.

“Perhaps in 2020 we’ll see her turn more to British designers and following Kate’s example.”
