Duchess Sarah has made a surprising comment about Duchess Meghan. The royal has spoken out in support of Prince Harry’s wife.

Sarah, Duchess of York has spoken out in support of Duchess Meghan Markle.

The popular royal, who was married to the Queen’s son Prince Andrew between 1986 and 1996, has said that she feels “desperately sorry” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the escalating backlash that they have been hit with over the past year.

"It must be hard for Meghan, and I can relate to her,” Duchess Sarah told Vogue Arabia. “I believe she is modern and fabulous.”

“She was famous before,” continued the mum-of-two. “She is great. Why can’t Meghan be great? Why can’t she be celebrated?"

The Duchess then addressed whether she would give any advice to the former Suits actress on how to handle the negativity thrown at her, saying that she would prefer to avoid it.

"I tend not to give advice because it is taken out of context,” said Sarah, “but I have been in Meghan's shoes, and I still am.

“There's always a twist of negativity,” she continued, “and it just gets so sad and tiring; it's hard and mean.

“I abhor bullying and I feel desperately sorry for the pain they must be going through because I've been through it."
