Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla welcomed the rainfall in Cornwall on Tuesday, smiling appreciatively as the blazing temperatures dropped with the sudden onset of showers.
The Prince of Wales and his future Queen Consort traveled to the seaside county on Monday to begin their annual tour of the region, which usually involves a whirlwind three days of meeting locals, visiting small businesses and stopping by major attractions.
The historic area is also famously the namesake of the couple's official royal titles, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall. Prince Charles has held the lofty moniker since 1973, while Camilla Parker Bowles received hers when she married into the Royal Family in 2005.
The regal couple was widely praised for their hardiness on Monday, after completing multiple engagements under the blistering sun at Mousehole, Newlyn and Boconnoc House. Duchess Camilla also showed off her chic way to keep cool in the UK heatwave, cradling a stylish parasol to shade her skin from the 40C weather as she mingled with excited locals and tourists.
Charles and Camilla stepped out again on Tuesday for the second day of their royal tour, arriving at the town of Launceston to meet excited schoolchildren, farmers and market vendors.
The fanfare surrounding their presence lifted briefly when thunderstorms broke out, bringing a merciful respite from the stiflingly hot weather that has gripped the country for the past few days. In typical royal fashion, Charles and Camilla refused to let the showers disturb their duties and continued to warmly greet the public under the refreshing droplets.

Launceston's Mayor Leighton Penhale even jokingly accused the duchess of bringing the rain with her, to which she replied, "Sorry about that."
"Despite the rain, it's been a great day for Launceston. I think the royal couple genuinely enjoyed themselves," said the town crier, Rob Tremain, after Charles and Camilla had left.
"Camilla was determined to speak to as many people as she could especially the children. A lot of people came out today and I hope that they will sample our great shops and think that our town is worth a visit again.”
