Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, has written an article praising the importance of reading ahead of World Book Day on March 3. Camilla revealed that she reads a book to her grandchildren which involves a plotline about stealing the Crown Jewels.

Earlier this year, Duchess Camilla celebrated the first anniversary of her book club. The avid reader has made promoting reading one of her great missions in life, so it goes without saying she's getting involved with the biggest annual celebration of all things books.

Ahead of World Book Day on March 3, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has penned a letter for The Mirror in which she talks about her love of reading, and the books she loves sharing with her grandchildren.

Camilla writes in the piece how she loves to dive into a good book, saying, “when we read, we understand ourselves better, we understand others better and we make lifelong friends.”

“I still remember the intense excitement I felt as a child when choosing books to buy with my pocket money and the joy of knowing that these precious books, clutched tightly in my hands, were my very own.”

As for how she’s ensuring her grandchildren inherit her love of reading, she shared that she loves to read them Gangsta Granny.

The story follows a boy named Ben who doesn’t look forward to spending time with his Grandma, finding her boring. However, it turns out there are two very important things he doesn’t know. One, his grandma is an international jewel thief and two, she’s after the Crown Jewels.
