The Cambridge family melt hearts in adorable new clap for carers video

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children made a star appearance on BBC's Big Night In on Thursday night.

The Cambridge family delighted royal fans when they made a surprise appearance on television on Thursday night.

Prince William, Duchess Catherine and their three children were filmed stepping outside of their home in Norfolk and joining in with the rest of the country as they clapped for carers when the clock struck 8pm.

Catherine - dressed in a floral purple maxi dress - held Prince Louis in her arms, while Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, four, proudly stood in front of their parents.

Prince George looked smart in a checked shirt and trousers, while Charlotte mirrored her mother's style with an equally adorable floral dress.

While Prince Louis - who turned two yesterday - looked a little bewildered as to what was going on, fans couldn't get enough of the Cambridge family's involvement in BBC's Big Night In.

One royal fan said, "Such an emotional video! Thank you to the Cambridge family for your support, that's a future King and Queen. Kate and William clapping with their children melted our hearts."

Another said, "I'm so happy any time we get to see the entire Cambridge family together. What a lovely sight. Thank you for this treat."

A third commented, "I think the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their lovely family are wonderful. I for one am grateful for their sense of duty, commitment and their relatable humanity. Our monarchy is safe in their hands."

BBC's Big Night In was a charity fundraiser brought to viewers by Comic Relief and Children in Need to help charities affected by the coronavirus crisis. The show has successfully raised a whopping £27 million so far.
