The upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing could be in crisis as one celebrity tests positive for coronavirus.
Producers have done all they can to ensure Strictly Come Dancing can return to our screens in a matter of weeks, but they couldn't have predicted that one of the star's would be diagnosed with covid-19 before even being partnered with their professional dance partner.
The show could be thrown into chaos as social media star HRVY has tested positive for coronavirus and must self-isolate for ten days.
The star - who is due to start filming in a matter of weeks - tweeted, "hi, wasn’t gonna worry anyone and say anything but now the story’s out, i have coronavirus, I’m all good, no symptoms, just isolating for the next 10 days. already super bored so prepare yourselves for my Tik toks."
While this could cause a crisis on set for fear of other celebrities falling in, a Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson has revealed HRVY shouldn't miss any training.
The insider said, "Pending a negative test, HRVY won't miss the launch recording or any dance training. We wish him all the best.
"We have rigorous protocols in place to manage covid-19 as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount."
HRVY's positive diagnosis comes just weeks after the new "covid-friendly" Strictly rules were announced.
These include forming "social bubbles" between celebrities and their partners, meaning one of them must live alone during the series.
For the first time in 16 years the show will be filmed with no audience and minimal backstage staff to keep risk of infection at a low. But insiders are concerned that this will have an impact on the atmosphere.
“The current plan is no audience, which will inevitably affect the show,” a source told The Sun. “They are the energy in the room, and dancing in an empty room is like dancing in a training room. It’s a different intensity and pressure.
“But Elstree is a very cosy set-up, where it will be impossible to safely socially distance audience members. So for now, with the current rules, it’s a ‘no’ to anyone watching.”
We also know that the show is starting later than normal – in October, not September – and will run for a shorter time.
