Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas has been rushed to hospital.

The professional ballroom dancer took to her Instagram account to reveal to fans that she had been taken to hospital with an ankle injury.

The BBC dancing competition judge uploaded a video of her walking down a hospital corridor on crutches, revealing to her 162,000 followers that she had been rushed to Accident & Emergency after breaking her right ankle.

In the video, where Shirley was wearing mask to protect from the coronavirus, the judge said, “Hi everybody, I’ve just finished at A&E after a clean break, on my right ankle.

“We’re not using Plaster of Paris anymore,” she continued, “using a boot, so I’m learning to walk on these crutches – crutches, right foot, close, a bit like the Waltz.

“Anyway, I’m going to be absolutely fine for Strictly.”

Opening up about the injury in her caption, Shirley wrote, ‘So a clean break. Six weeks to heal.

Thanking doctors for their help and support during the visit, she continued, ‘Thank you to NHS and all staff who took care of me. @danieltayloresq thank you for being there. Painful but I’ll trolly on. #cleanbreak #brokenankle.

‘I’ll be fine for @bbcstrictly thank you for all the messages. #gratitude’.

The star’s other half Daniel Taylor also shared a series of photos from the hospital visit on his Instagram page, writing, ‘In A&E with this brave soldier @shirleyballas!

‘You can never say it enough but thank you to our amazing #NHS for your time and care and of course all the sacrifices you all make on a daily basis to look after our country. #livingangels’.

Fans and friends immediately reached out to the star to offer their support, with Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman writing, ‘Sending so much love ❤❤❤❤’ and professional dancer Janette Manrara adding, ‘I’m so sorry! Hope you’re not in too much pain 🙏🏼’.
