As Sarah Ferguson prepares to turn 60 in October, she’s confessed to being a bit of a ‘hypochondriac’ because she wants to be around to be a granny.
Speaking at the launch of Bias and Biology, a British Heart Foundation campaign created to raise awareness of the inequalities in diagnosis of women and heart disease, The Duchess of York said: ‘I’m sexy, sassy and super saucy – and I don’t want to get heart disease.
‘More of us wonderful ladies should go and get checked.’
Having watched her daughter, Princess Eugenie, tie the knot with Jack Brooksbank last year, Fergie wants to ensure she’s in tip-top health to be around as they embark on parenthood in the near future.
‘I want to be a granny,’ she said. ‘I don’t want to not take this seriously. It’s not a joke, it’s only one life.’
She’s also put more emphasis on watching what she eats. ‘I do a lot of in-house training,’ she confessed. And encouraged other women to do the same.
‘If you want to see your children’s children, take control of your heart.’
Sarah’s revelation about feeling ‘sexy’ at 59 comes weeks after it was reported that she and Prince Andrew are rekindling their romance, 23 years after they divorced.
Having co-parented their two children, Eugenie, 29, and Beatrice, 30, since their split, Sarah once revealed they’re the ‘world’s happiest divorced couple’ and like to ‘lead by example.’
According to a royal insider the girls are ‘delighted’ that their parents are back together.
‘This has been a slow-burn reunion. Andrew was still in love with Sarah when they first split, and while he came to enjoy being single, he’s not one for the dating scene,’ the source explained.
‘Nobody has come anywhere near as close to him as Sarah has always been.’
