Piers Morgan's famous friends get creative with his birthday celebrations

Piers Morgan has been forced to celebrate his birthday without his array of famous friends as the world continues to self-isolate amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But that hasn't stopped Piers' A-list pals getting creative as they attempt to wish the outspoken Good Morning Britain host a happy 55th birthday - with a difference.

Piers' co-host Charlotte Hawkins had her daughter make a birthday card as lockdown meant she is unable to get to the shop.

Sharing the creation on Twitter, Charlotte wrote, "Happy Birthday @piersmorgan! I obviously can’t get to a card shop at the moment so enlisted the help of my 5 year-old Ella-Rose. I did tell her the head should be bigger but I think she nailed the hair..."

To which he replied, "Thank you Ella-Rose! My only birthday card today, love it!"

With Piers' normal co-host Susanna Reid unable to join him in the studio as she continues to self-isolate against covid-19, Susanna sent her wishes from afar.

"Happy birthday @piersmorgan *waves from a distance*," she tweeted.

It was one birthday gaffe after another on Good Morning Britain this morning after Piers sent ITV viewers into meltdown by reading a rude birthday message from Vinnie Jones aloud on air.

The message read, "Happy birthday you total legend," and in smaller writing, "total b***end".

Charlotte was quickly forced to apologise to viewers for the inappropriate language - much to Piers' dismay.

"Haven’t we learned we can have a laugh? I can’t even get a birthday card or a cake? Surely I’m allowed to have a laugh with Vinnie," he said.

On Sunday, Piers joked that the "digital party" was going to be a "riot" as the covid-19 pandemic put paid to any plans he'd made to celebrate with family and friends.

But, birthday cards and messages are certainly keeping Piers' spirits high. "The early birthday cards are in (it's tomorrow - the digital party is going to be a riot!) and providing a lovely warm & morale-boosting good cheer at this difficult time."
