Michelle Obama has shared an adorably quirky family portrait in celebration of her husband's birthday, as well as a touching message of love and gratitude.

The Becoming author took to Instagram to mark former US President Barack Obama's 60th birthday with a never-before-seen photo of the powerhouse couple and their two grown-up daughters—and fans are absolutely loving it.

The sweet snap captured the family at one of their goofier moments, with Barack sneakily giving his youngest child, Sasha, the bunny ears hand gesture—much to the 20-year-old's oblivion. Malia, 22, is also up for some fun, pulling a funny face at the camera whilst giving a thumbs-up.

Michelle opted to go for a slightly more classic pose, smiling knowingly and crossing her arms.

"Of all of your accomplishments, I know that being a present, loving father to our girls tops them all," Michelle wrote in the gushing post. "Thank you for never letting the weight of the world get in the way of being a wonderful husband and father. Happy 60th birthday, @BarackObama! 💕"

It also looks like the iconic couple, who will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary next year, decided to co-ordinate outfits for the cute photo. Barack's blue and white pin-striped shirt perfectly complimented Michelle's red and white checked dress, which she paired with dangling turquoise earrings and straightened hair.

The affectionate post was quickly flooded by comments from fans of the former First Lady, with many offering their own sweet messages to the ex-president on the milestone birthday. Others were quick to praise the sweet quartet, who first rose to fame after Obama's election to office in 2008.

"What a gorgeous family," one person wrote.

"Happy birthday 🎂 🥳. BEAUTIFUL family 👪," another said.

Unfortunately for Michelle and Barack, the couple has had to make some last-minute changes to their plans for the exciting occasion. The rising rates of COVID-19 in the US have prevented them from holding a birthday bash for friends and family at the Obamas' mansion on Martha’s Vineyard this Saturday, meaning they'll have to find another way to celebrate.

"Due to the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends,” their spokesperson Hannah Hankins said in a statement Wednesday morning.  “He’s appreciative of others sending their birthday wishes from afar and looks forward to seeing people soon.”
