The former Great British Bake Off judge will turn teacher for new Christmas cookery show

Mary Berry is set to save Christmas with her new BBC cookery show aimed at teaching amateur cooks how to make the ultimate Xmas feast.

Mary, 85, has teamed up with BBC One to launch a new series focused on her teaching novice chefs how to cook a Christmas dinner.

The show, currently named Mary Berry Saves Christmas, will have secret cookery lessons in a bid to surprise their families with all their favourite festive foods.

Are you hopeless in the kitchen, do you turn the turkey into a charcoal twirler?

The show is expected to air on Christmas Day and is expected go head-to-head for ratings with her old show The Great British Bake Off.

GBBO will see judges Prue LeithandPaul Hollywood oversee four previous contestants as they make festive bakes in the hope of being crowned Christmas Star Baker.

Mary Berry trained at The Cordon Bleu in Paris and Bath School of Home Economics. Her first television series was called Afternoon Plus with Judith Chalmers and came out in the early '70s. She continued through the '80s writing books and filming television series for BBC from her home in Buckinghamshire.

But most notably Mary has been a judge on The Great British Bake Off,The Junior Bake Off, Comic Relief Bake offandSports Relief Bake Offfrom 2009 to 2016.

From 2014 Mary has had her own cooking show on BBC1 and BBC2 including - Mary Berry Cooks, Foolproof Cooking, Mary Berry’s Classic, Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking and 2020 Mary Berry’s Simple Comforts.

Meanwhile from 2018 Mary has been one of the judges on Best Home Cook, BBC1 competition cooking series. 2019 Mary presented a Christmas show – A Very Royal Christmas a one hour BBC special with Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
