Martin Lewis will take to the stage as a celebrity contestant on this new talent show

Martin Lewis

Martin Lewis is our go-to person when it comes to money issues, but we will soon be seeing him demonstrating a new talent as it is announced he will be appearing as a celebrity contestant on ITV’s All Star Musicals.

Money saving expert and This Morning regular Martin Lewis is one of seven celebrities to be appearing on All Star Musicals.

The ITV TV show involves celebrities performing musical numbers at the London Palladium in front of an audience and expert panel.

The celebrities will be judged and given a score based on a panel and audience vote before it is announced who will be given the title of All Star Musicals champion.

Martin explained why he was keen to appear on the show saying, “I don’t listen to music. I don’t sing. I’ve never been in a choir. And I’ve said no to lots of TV talent show type programmes. Yet my little girl loves musicals, and so I’ve been watching them with her; and when I mentioned that I’d been asked to do All Star Musicals, she got very excited. And I love my little girl, and I love a challenge. So I’m going to try and take my vocal chords to places they’ve never been before!”

How sweet!

The TV presenter will star alongside six other celebrities including Only Fools and Horses actress Tessa Peake Jones and I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp host Joel Dommett.

The other contestants are broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh, comedian London Hughes, Coronation Street actor Daniel Brocklebank and Amy Walsh who stars in Emmerdale.

Strictly Come Dancing fans will be excited to hear Kevin Clifton will be a panellist on the show, ready to share his expertise with the celebrity contestants.

Kevin, who won the most recent Strictly Come Dancing with partner Stacey Dooley, said, “When I was asked if I would like to be part of All Star Musicals I was like ‘hell yeah’, but to be asked to be part of the actual judging panel was another level. I am so excited to join the rest of the panellists and being honest, it will be nice to be on the other side of the desk for once.”

Alongside Kevin on the panel will be actress and singer Elaine Paige who is renowned for her work in musical theatre. Elaine will also be mentoring each of the celebrities.

Also on the panel will be Broadway star and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth and star of the West End, Trevor Dion Nicholas.

The show will be shown on ITV this spring and will be hosted by John Barrowman.

We are looking forward to seeing Martin in a new light! Who will you be backing?
