Retellings can be tricky, and Lin-Manuel Miranda admitted just that. In a sit-down with Variety, the playwright opens up about his highly-anticipated film adaptation of In the Heights—a long-awaited project we will welcome with open arms.

"I didn’t know the sheer tonnage of miles between acquiring the rights and a green light," he told the publication.

Although Universal Pictures optioned the movie, it was ultimately made by Warner Bros. To fans' delight, it will finally hit HBO Max beginning June 11—yet another cinematic treat that COVID-19 unfortunately delayed. (It'll run on the platform for 31 days.)

Like Lin-Manuel's award-winning play, the film version of In the Heights follows a Washington Heights bodega owner, Usnavi de la Vega, who is working to save up to return to the Dominican Republic. It focuses on the love, camaraderie, and closeness of people in the uptown New York City community experience. As director Jon Chu says, "It's a vaccine for your soul."

We can't wait to stream this soon-to-be-favorite!

The Comedy Central queen focuses on a couple, Lucy and Adrian (Justin Theroux), who struggle to get pregnant. The duo thinks their luck has changed when they meet Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan), but things get very dark very quickly.

Plus, the moment we're all waiting for is on the horizon: the Friends reunion special is finally underway. Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, the cast is filming the week of April 5. It's so close!

We know it's difficult to be patient. Waiting for your favorite movies and specials is no easy feat, so take your mind off of it with a Netflix binge: there are plenty of great titles hitting the streaming service in April
