Joan Collins is known for playing strong-willed, sassy roles and it appears that life may actually be imitating art—judging by her scathing comments about Boris Johnson.

The Hollywood legend, and surprising celebrity godparent, appeared on the UK's The One Show and chose to leave her filter at home, especially when it came to a certain politician.

Dame Joan was sharing anecdotes about old Hollywood legends like Frank Sinatra and then things took an unexpected political turn. It began with the actor taking a swipe at former British Prime Minister John Major's spectacles. She admitted suggesting to his colleague back in the day that he ought to, "wear smaller glasses."

Hosts Ronan Keating and Sam Quek, along with the whole studio, were tickled by the legend's lackadaisical attitude. So much so that Sam pushed further. "How about Boris, Boris Johnson? Any advice for him?" she asked.

Joan went on to explain that her connection to Boris is more of a professional one. "But he used to be my boss," she explained.

"I write about that in the diaries, that he was my boss, because when I was writing in The Spectator, and he was the editor, I wrote about a lunch that we were at, that we were all at together," she said.

As well as insulting his suits Joan added, "I said, 'there was a very loud man there called Boris Johnson and he looks like he combs his hair with an egg beater'"

Needless to say, Twitter went nuts over the icon's unfiltered appearance on the show. "Joan Collins telling Boris to get his suits tailored better—made my evening!" said one user.

Another added, "Joan Collins on meeting Boris Johnson…. He looked like he did his hair with an egg beater, classic!"

However, it wasn't just Joan's comments on how Boris looks that gained attention, as many viewers couldn't get over how wonderful the 88-year-old looks.

One tweet read, How fabulous is Joan Collins! 88? Surely some mistake!"

"Joan Collins is 88, how is that even possible?! She looks - and sounds - years younger, she’s so amazing, what an incredible zest for life she has!" added another user.

The glam star famously advised that every woman should leave a pot of eye cream in the downstairs toilet, so perhaps that's the key to looking so youthful? Or perhaps it's eschewing retirement that keeps her young?

Despite many people her age choosing to step back from professional responsibilities, Joan recently took great offense when asked if she'd consider retirement.

In an interview with the Times she said, "Retire? I think that’s a f***ing rude question. Don’t f***ing ask me that question, don’t use that word, 'retire'"

With retirement not on the cards, here's hoping we'll be hearing lots more of Joan's unfiltered opinions in the future.
