Alex Rodriguez has spoken out about his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, offering a surprisingly positive perspective on their high-profile split.

The A-list couple broke off their engagement in April, marking the end of their five-year romance.

Shortly after their separation, rumors began to whirl that J-Lo had reunited with her ex-fiancé, Ben Affleck, and by July, it was confirmed that Bennifer was officially back on. Jennifer has now deleted her online Instagram posts with Alex, erasing all photographic evidence of their relationship on her social media.

Despite the very public diss, A-Rod seems to be taking it all in his stride.

Speaking to ET, the former American baseball player reminisced on "five years of an incredible life and partnership", before adding that he and his two daughters "learned so much" from the experience.

Alex and his teenage girls Natasha and Ella lived alongside Jennifer and her twins, daughter Emme Maribel and son Maximilian David, in a $32 million lavish Miami mansion, prior to their sudden split. Rather than dwelling on the sorrow of this chapter finishing, the New York businessman reflects on it with gratitude and looks forward to the future.

"Now we have the opportunity to take that and move forward and say you know what? We're so grateful for the last five years, how do we make the next five years better because of lessons learned?" he said.

Alex also credited his faith for helping frame his positive outlook during what could have been a very difficult time.

"I'm in a great place," he revealed. "I'm so grateful for where God and the light have really put me, and I'm really looking forward. Mostly to see how my girls keep developing."

Alex and Jennifer's separation last spring came as quite a shock to fans of the superstar couple, who were regularly spotted in public looking affectionate with each other and spending quality time with their four kids.

However, there were some signs that it wasn't all roses in paradise for the powerhouse pair. In February 2021, cracks in their union surfaced after Jennifer Lopez discussed how therapy affected her relationship. The triple threat entertainer explained that she and Alex had to work and "make changes" to preserve their relationship, especially during the stress of the pandemic. Unfortunately, it seems the couple was unable to resolve their differences and are now getting ready to move on as friends and co-parents.
