If you need another reason to fangirl over Ina Garten, the cookbook author just gave a tour of her lush gardens. In a post on Instagram, Ina invited her 3.1 million Instagram followers to come with her as she walked through her East Hampton, New York home—and it’s every gardener’s dream.
“It’s a beautiful day in East Hampton,” she started. “I thought it would be really fun to take a tour of the garden. Come with me!”

As you probably expected, the Barefoot Contessa is a responsible plant parent as the tour featured some of the best shrubs and tough plants to survive in her New York home. To start out, viewers were granted a view of her “shade garden,” which is filled with ferns and crepe myrtle trees. As she continues down the stone path, she eventually leads us to a fairytale-like door that is home to what she describes as her “secret garden.” As a big fan of cooking, it comes as no surprise that this area is home to her most used foliage.
“This is where I grow tomatoes and herbs,” she said as she pointed to the various twisting vines around stakes and fragrant lavender (one of her favorite scents). She incorporates her fresh herbs into her cooking, while her “big fig tree” supplies delicious yields for cooking, but she doesn’t let the plant go to waste and even uses the leaves as decoration for platters.
Of course her garden wasn’t complete without the white and peach roses in full bloom. Fans, including her close friend Katie Couric, took to the comment section to praise her beautiful garden.
Couric wrote what we were all thinking, commenting on how “OBSESSED” she was with the garden.
After seeing plants like Ina’s, the thought of recreating something this impressive can seem intimidating, but she made sure to provide us with some easy gardening tips before concluding her tour.
