Firefly Lane Season 2 is officially confirmed! Netflix has renewed our favorite heart-warming friendship series for another season. Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke made the announcement on a recent Zoom call, and we couldn't be more excited. (Spoilers ahead!)

Season one left us on a pretty serious cliff-hanger, so we're so thankful we get to continue following Kate and Tully's story and find out what happened between them. Now that we can expect a second season, we have so many questions that we're hoping the new season will answer. Like, is Johnny really dead? And why did Tully and Kate stop talking to one another? Season two seriously can't come fast enough.

Firefly Lane is based on a book of the same name by author Kristin Hannah, and while there are key differences between the book series and TV show, the sequel to the book series, Fly Away, could inspire future seasons.

If you need a quick explanation of the ending of Firefly Lane season one—here's a quick recap: we jumped to the future and saw Kate and her daughter at a funeral, but initially don't know whose. Kate's husband, Johnny, gets caught up in an explosion in Iraq as a war correspondent. We're unsure if he actually dies, learning that the funeral is not for Johnny, but Kate's dad Bud.

Tully shows up at the funeral, and straight away viewers catch that things are not good between the former besties. It's clear that "Firefly Lane girls forever" is no longer the case as Kate doesn't hide her disdain: Tully asks, "don't you think you've punished me enough?" to which Kate responds, "when I said that I could never forgive you for what you did, what did you think that meant? Go home. Now. I don't ever want to see you again."

This begs the question, why did the Firefly Lane women stop speaking, and what did Tully do to Kate? Thankfully the two leading ladies answered some burning questions on Zoom. "We can't say much but we can say that it's family-related—and has nothing to do with Johnny," Sarah confirmed in the short clip.

When will Firefly Lane season 2 be on Netflix?

At the moment, although Firefly Lane season 2 is officially confirmed, we don't have a release date, just know that it's "coming soon" per the announcement video. "We don't have all the answers yet, but trust us it is going to be worth the wait," Sarah explained.

Katherine added, "we are so grateful to all of you for your support and making Firefly Lane trend number one on Netflix!"

Kate and Tully are the definition of best friend goals, so we hope that whatever happened between them can be worked out during season two. If the second season is anything like season one, then we'll also gain more insight into their past growing up and navigating life together. And we'll definitely need some tissues if the new season is as emotional as the first.

While no news has been announced about production just yet, you can catch us watching the first season on a constant loop until we hear more.
