Catherine Tyldesley has expressed her heartbreak after her time on the Strictly Come Dancing Tour ended sooner than expected.

The Coronation Street star has been forced to drop out of the live tour due to an injury.

The star has been performing with professional dancer Johannes Radebe, who she was partnered with in the 2019 series.

Catherine took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and Johannes, updating her fans on the sad news.

She wrote, “I'm absolutely heartbroken to let you all know that I’ve had to finish my time on the @strictlycomedancinglive tour earlier than expected.

“Unfortunately I’ve sustained an injury which means I’ll be unable to dance for a while.

“My experience of the tour has been a complete joy. Each audience has been so full of love for SCD. My fellow dancers are all phenomenal and I’m so grateful to have experienced such a magical show."

Catherine goes onto say that "devastated is an understatement” with regards to how she’s currently feeling.

She adds, “Wishing my #Strictly family the best time with the rest of the tour. If you get chance to watch it - GO! It’s unbelievably magical."

The news comes just weeks after the soap star told Hello! Magazine that Strictly has worked wonders for her self-confidence.

She said, "Strictly showed me how to learn to love my body again. I became much more confident in myself and more grateful for what I can achieve. It's made me want to push myself even more."

But it seems that illness and injury has been rampant on this year’s tour, with Shirley Ballas chipping her tooth last week and Dianne Buswell and Karen Bauer reportedly pulling out, due to sickness.

As a result, AJ Pritchard paired up with new dancer Jake Leigh for an impromptu same-sex routine.

The tour is set to go on until February 9, with a final show taking place at London's O2 arena.
