Adele splashed a whopping £1,000 at a London book shop to create her own personalized library, according to an inside source.

Adele may be one of the busiest celebrities on the planet right now, but that doesn't mean she doesn't find the time to read.

The English singer reportedly bought £1,000 worth of books during a trip to a traditional bookstore in London, after telling its starstruck employees, "I want a library." It remains unknown exactly when Adele's visit took place, but it's likely to have occurred during her recent stop in the UK for the BRIT Awards in February.

A 'mole' has told the Daily Mail that the Grammy-award-winner dropped into the Chelsea branch of Daunt Books with a friend, "wearing sunglasses and looking like a superstar." News of the exciting appearance comes a few months after Adele cancelled her Las Vegas show, Weekends with Adele, leaving thousands of ticketholders unsure of when the glitzy residency would be rescheduled.

She then began "pulling books off the shelves without even looking at the spines or reading the blurbs, and piling them up by the till."

The cashier recalled that Adele announced, "I want a library," after she commented on the towering stack of books on the counter. And by the sounds of it, it looks like she's well on her way to achieving that goal. The Tottenham native reportedly racked up a bill of about £1,000, leaving staff at the store understandably 'thrilled'.

While the 33-year-old hasn't spoken too much about her penchant for reading, it's no secret that she's fond of a well-stocked bookcase.

Adele's house tour with Vogue last year revealed that the Easy on Me singer keeps dozens of hardbacks—many of which are about travel—on a nook of shelves in her English-style living area.

When asked by 73 Questions interviewer, Joe Sabia, "Can you learn a lot about a person by the books they keep?" she replied, "Well I would say that, but I don’t know many people that have real books in their house anymore. They seem to have Kindle or they just don’t read at all or on their phone."

Adele has also previously recommended the self-help book, Untamed, to her legion of adoring fans. The mother-of-one, who divorced from husband Simon Konecki last year, credited the bestselling memoir by Glennon Doyle for helping her to realize that she is "solely responsible" for her own happiness in August 2020.
