The family of the late "Jeopardy!" star, Alex Trebek, will be donating his iconic suits to charity to help people find employment in the pandemic.
The beloved TV star, who hosted the NBC quiz show for 36 years, was known for his classic wardrobe of tailored suits, bold ties, and polished shoes. Alex sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer last November at the age of 80, but his spirit isn’t going anywhere.
"Jeopardy" and the Trebek family have pledged to donate 14 of his famous suits to The Doe Fund, a non-profit organization that provides services for those who have experienced homelessness, addiction, or imprisonment. The charity will also receive 300 neckties, 25 polo shirts, 14 sweaters, 9 coats, 9 pairs of dress shoes, 3 pairs of slacks, 2 parks, and 15 belts within the donation.
This generous offering of high-quality clothing has a very specific purpose - to help disadvantaged people secure a job during these difficult times. The clothing will be given to The Doe Fund’s award-winning program participants, which goes by the fitting name Ready, Willing and Able. The program admirably helps underprivileged men find stable employment and housing.

“The men in our career training programs are always in need of professional attire, so they can shine in their job interviews and work with confidence once they’re hired,” said Harriet McDonald, President of The Doe Fund. “This donation alleviates the obstacle of not having appropriate clothing.”
Alex’s son, Matthew Trebek, initiated the brilliant idea, who has been a long-time supporter of The Doe Fund.
Alex's final day on the "Jeopardy!" set was October 29, just 10 days before his death. Despite his illness, the veteran TV personality's uplifting presence had prevailed in his final weeks.
“During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering,” said Mike Richards, an executive producer on "Jeopardy!". “Donating his wardrobe to those who are working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to begin to honor that last request.”
A permanent replacement for Alex has not yet been confirmed. With many fans of the show devoutly loyal to the longstanding host, the network has tread delicately, filling his spot. For the time being, Ken Jennings, who has guest-hosted on the program over 30 times, will act as a temporary presenter.
