Like most fashion lovers, I look forward to the Black Friday sales as a chance to grab a bargain, and naturally, my passion for British clothing brand Boden, means that I'm limbered up to shop the Boden Black Friday discounts, because there is 40% stacks of items in the brand's edit and 20% off everything else.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not quite going 'wild in the aisles'. Sale shopping in any space can feel overwhelming, but after working in the fashion industry for twenty years, I have created a few rules for myself to make is slightly easier. When it comes to the Boden Black Friday sale, these are my top tips:
- Keep an eye out during the season: Essentially this means, know the collection before items get into the sale. Even if a brand is price prohibitive, if you love it, a sale is a great way of snapping up items for less, but if you've already ear-marked a few favourites pre-sale you'll have a little list of items you actually want when the discounts roll in.
- Don't be led by the % off, follow your heart: This doesn't mean don't think about your purchases, but it does mean don't convince yourself into buying something because it's got loads of money off. If you wouldn't want it at full price (even if you can't get it then), don't buy it just because it's 60% off, it's still 40% on.
- What else will it go with? Even if you do love something in the sale, consider how and when you will wear it. Ideally you want it to go with or be useful for at least 3 different outfits or occasions so that you can be sure it will maximise its cost per wear.

It will mean you're only looking at items you could actually get in your size and you're looking at far fewer items at a time.

Typically, like most Black Friday sales, I imagine that the current offers we are seeing will last until the end of Cyber Monday. It is possible that the offers will change over the next few days, as Black Friday isn't officially here until the 28th of November, but this particular period of sale shopping is highly competitive, so many brands launch Black Friday offers in advance of the day itself. The best advice I can give, is to keep checking the website, as sometimes some items can get reduced further, but don'rt rely on it.
As I stated at the beginning, Boden does have very loyal shoppers, and I do find that items can sell out very quickly, particularly when the offers are as good as 40% off, so if there is something you love, I would personally snap it up now rather than wait for further discounts, as 40% is a very healthy offer and you may not see anything more discounted, but you may not secure the piece you want.
