Fashion designer Tory Burch has launched a summer collection with a twist, dropping her first-ever sunscreen in collaboration with Japanese cosmetics brand Shiseido.
The limited-edition range features two sunscreens, a regular lotion and a stick, both SPF 50.
The fashion designer had personal reasons for getting into the sunscreen game. A scare during a routine check-up left her with a deeper understanding of the importance of sun protection.
"A couple of years ago, I went for a routine skin check and was fortunate to catch something when I did," she said in a statement on her website. “It could happen to anyone. I am now more conscious of the importance of regular skin checks and using sunscreen daily.”
The Tory Burch x Shiseido screens are formulated with a clear consistency to avoid white streaks. They are also equipped with Shiseido’s WetForce technology, developed in 2014, that interacts with the minerals in water and perspiration, meaning the sunscreen film becomes stronger when wet and provides your skin with up to 80 minutes of protection before you need to reapply.
“Ninety per cent of aging comes from sun damage, so sunscreen, particularly during the warmer months where we spend more time outdoors, is an absolute must," advised woman&home beauty editor Eunice Lucero-Lee. "Anything SPF 30 or higher is ideal."
The Tory Burch x Shiseido collection also features a surf shirt, a bikini, flip flops and a tote bag, all decorated in a flower pattern inspired by Tory's home in Antigua.
