Celebrity godparents may be commonplace in Hollywood, but given the deeply personal nature of selecting godparents for your child, it’s perhaps no surprise that a lot of them aren’t widely known by the public. Though it certainly seems to make sense that if you move in celebrity circles, your closest and dearest friends are often equally famous. 

When it comes to secret connections in Hollywood, it’s amazing how many celebrities are linked in one way or another. It's even been suggested that the Queen has some pretty shocking Hollywood connections

For godparents, people often choose those who they think will help positively influence their children’s lives. Now a new study by OnlineGambling.com has revealed some of the most surprising celebrity godparents that even the most dedicated celebrity fans might not have guessed.

Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus

Country singing legends Dolly Parton and Billy Ray Cyrus are so close that the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer chose to make Dolly the godmother of his daughter, fellow singer Miley Cyrus. Dolly and Miley have collaborated together on several occasions throughout the years.

Perhaps best known for her role in the original Halloween movie, Jamie Lee Curtis is one brilliant godmother to have and it seems fellow actor Jake Gyllenhaal is the lucky godchild in question. It’s even been claimed that the actor credits her “unofficial godson” with convincing her to reprise her role in the new Halloween movie. Who’d have thought it?

Even major celebrity fans may not have realized that Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore share a godfather! Both of these famous women have the world-renowned film director, producer and screenwriter Steven Spielberg as their godfather. With a godfather so accomplished in his fields, it’s perhaps no surprise that Gwyneth and Drew have both gone on to be acclaimed in theirs.

The British singing sensation is the godparent to fashion designer and former Spice Girls star Victoria and footballer David Beckham's oldest son, Brooklyn. Following on from this decision, it seems the couple felt that they’d made the perfect choice as they went on to make Elton John godfather to their second son, Romeo, too.
