The Queen and Prince Phillip both look delighted by the handmade card from their grandchildren as they read the message inside.

The sweet card, which we assume was made with a little bit of help from Kate and William, had a multi-coloured 73 on the front, next to different coloured balloons. The anniversary picture was taken by royal photographer, Chris Jackson, in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle.

The photo, posted just last night, has so far had over 600,000 likes and hundreds of messages from royal fans. They loved the picture - claiming how adorable the card was, while others wrote celebratory messages for the Queen and Prince Phillip.

The Queen wore a baby blue dress for the occasion, along with her staple pearls. Prince Phillip also looked smart in a navy suit and tie. They were sat on a grey couch, with red scatter cushions and also seemed to have an array of other cards on the table in front of them.

In a nod to their long and successful marriage, the Queen also wore the same sapphire and diamond brooch she wore for their honeymoon photoshoot in 1947.

The Queen and Prince Phillip initially met in 1934, at the wedding of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark and Prince George, Duke of Kent. They married at Westminster Abbey 13 years later. The couple have four children - Prince Charles, 72, Princess Anne, 70, Prince Andrew, 60, and Prince Edward, 56.
