Princess Eugenie is expecting her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the exciting news in a statement that read, 'Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021.'

Revealing the reaction of grandparents-to-be Prince Andrew and Sarah, (opens in new tab)Duchess of York as well as Jack Brooksbank's parents and the Queen (opens in new tab) and Prince Philip, the statement added, 'The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.'

Parents-to-be Princess Eugenie and husband Jack also shared the wonderful news on Eugenie's Instagram page, uploading an adorable photo of the pair linking hands and holding up a pair of fluffy baby slippers to the camera.

They also shared a second photo of them happily beaming at the camera to announce the lovely news.

Confirming the news in her caption, Eugenie wrote, 'Jack and I are so excited for early 2021....👶🏻'.

Fans were thrilled for the royal couple, with the post raking up thousands of likes and comments in just minutes.

This will be the first baby for Princess Eugenie and her husband of nearly two years Jack Brooksbank, who tied the knot back in October 2018 (opens in new tab) in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The couple married in the same chapel, St George's Chapel (opens in new tab), where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had said their wedding vows (opens in new tab) just months prior to that, with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan also announcing their pregnancy with Archie days after Eugenie's nuptials.
