The Duke of Sussex and his father, Prince Charles, have enjoyed a series of 'friendly' video calls and tensions are beginning to 'thaw' according to sources close to the royals.

Relations between Prince Harry and Prince Charles are beginning to thaw as Prince Harry tries to make amends ahead of returning to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Just months after claims Prince Charles and Prince Harry’s relationship was at an “all-time low” following news Harry was furious about his father’s involvement in “curbing” his military career and the comments he made about their relationship on a podcast, the pair are said to be trying to get back on good terms.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's diaries are free this summer, and they are expected to return for Prince Philip’s memorial service, as well as the extended celebrations being put on for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

But Prince Harry fears he’s not safe in the UK after Metropolitan Police refused to provide protection for his family on their return.

There were even reports that the Queen may never meet Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child amid claims he could sue the UK government over security conflicts.

Despite the recent row over security, which could put the couple's plans in jeopardy, the father-and-son duo is said to be in contact after Prince Harry reached out.

An insider told The Sun, “There has been a definite thaw in relations between Harry and Charles. They are on much better terms and have been having friendly chats and video calls.

“It has been suggested to Harry he may live to regret any lingering family bitterness, and he has taken that on board.”

Despite all the drama since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals, relocated to Santa Monica, and spoke out against the royal family in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, it seems there could be hope for a reconciliation.

“There is a feeling he is coming back more into the fold and wants to be closer to his family,” the source added.

The news comes shortly after Prince Charles held an olive branch out to his son by commending him in an environmental activism essay.
