Prince Charles’ very unusual lunch habit revealed by royal correspondent
Prince Charles reportedly isn’t a fan of this daily ‘luxury’
Prince Charles reportedly has a very unusual habit when it comes to lunch, with a former royal correspondent claiming the future king sees this traditional meal as a “luxury”.
- The Prince of Wales is said to have adopted the rather surprising habit of skipping lunch as part of his daily routine.
- A former royal correspondent has suggested that Prince Charles prefers to “work through” this traditional meal in favor of getting things done.
- This royal news comes as Prince Philip actor Jonathan Pryce was spotted on the set of The Crown getting to grips with one of the late Duke's favorite hobbies.
Prince Charles is known for his enduring commitment to his royal responsibilities and this is said to influence his daily routine when it comes to mealtimes. The Queen's eldest child has been observed taking an even more prominent role within the Royal Family in recent months as the royals are reportedly “stepping up” to support the Queen following Prince Philip’s death. After their tour of Wales, he and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall were applauded for their “non-stop” trip. Whilst Prince Charles has now spoken out about the global crisis, issuing a heartbreaking plea to act “before it’s too late”.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess are now on vacation in Scotland, visiting the Queen during her annual summer break at Balmoral. But it seems that when Prince Charles is working, he is determined not to let one particular mealtime disrupt his daily routine.
Former royal correspondent Gordon Rayner previously revealed in The Telegraph that Prince Charles has certain eating habits he always sticks to and the most surprising one concerns lunch.
Discussing his experience traveling the world with Prince Charles, Gordon claimed, "Lunch is seen as a luxury that gets in the way of his work, so he eats a late breakfast and works through.”
He went on to state that he had personal experience of this, adding, "I found this out the hard way, by going hungry when I started covering royal tours and watching enviously as his long-suffering staff produced snacks from pockets so they could eat on the go."
But whilst he might not be so much of a fan of lunch, when it comes to the dishes Prince Charles enjoys the most, he has previously revealed one of his go-to recipes in honor of a special occasion—Cheesy Baked Eggs. And it seems that his recent trip to Balmoral might see him uncover some more of his favorite ingredients.

According to Express.co.uk, former royal chef Darren McGrady previously told Delish magazine about the Prince’s love for mushrooms.
“He was a foodie - into organic farming before it was even invented,” Darren reportedly explained. “He loves wild mushrooms and would take his chefs to Balmoral to show them where the best mushrooms are.”
The chef, who also once cooked for Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry at Kensington Palace, shared how they brought the “amazing” mushrooms back.
“We brought them back to Buckingham Palace and they were the most amazing porcini mushrooms.”
So whilst Prince Charles enjoys spending time with the Queen in Scotland this summer, he might well be on the lookout for some delicious mushrooms to enjoy.
