The 71-year-old shared two throwback snaps – one with his father, The Duke of Edinburgh, and one with his two sons from 2004 - on the official Clarence House Instagram account.

The caption read, “Whether you are a Father, a Dad, a Daddy or a Pa, wishing you a Happy Father’s Day!

Now that Prince Harry has moved to America after stepping down from the royal fold, fans were thrilled to see a picture of Prince Charles and his two sons.

One royal fan said, “Love to see you with both your boys.”

Another online user pointed out that Prince William bares an uncanny resemblance to his late mother, Princess Diana of Wales – who tragically passed away in 1997.

“William looks so much like Diana in that second picture - uncanny.”

It comes after a royal expert claimed Prince William’s birthday – which he is celebrating today – will be tainted by sadness.

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has explained that Prince William will likely be missing his mother, Princess Diana, as he marks his 38th year.

The pair have both been very open about how her death has impacted their mental health throughout their lives.

Speaking on how Diana’s absence will play a part on his birthday, Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine, “William misses his mother. It must be emotional for him that she’s not here to share this. She’s still a significant part of his life so inevitably, on his birthday, his thoughts will be with her.”
