The reason why Meghan Markle always wears navy blue

By Jess Beech
Her fashion forward outfits have the nation in a frenzy, and she’s set to have one of the most stylish maternity wardrobes going, but there’s one classic hue that Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle keeps gravitating towards.
If, like us, you’ve been obsessing over Meghan Markle and her outfits since before she said ‘I do’, then you’ll have noticed she wears a lot of navy blue.
And, according to Applied Colour Psychology Specialist Karen Haller, this could be a very deliberate decision.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Karen explained, ‘When it comes to the psychology of colour, blue relates to the mind. Darker blues relate to trust, logic and knowledge.’
‘It communicates duty and professionalism and given it’s a more approachable colour than black, maybe why she wore this hue often on her recent 16-day royal tour down under.’
Karen adds, ‘Subconsciously wearing darker blues might suggest that—this being her first major royal tour—she wanted to maintain her focus and concentration during her royal duties.’
During her recent royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand alongside husband Prince Harry, Meghan wore eight navy blue outfits – even wearing two on the final day. Making her love of navy clear, she opted for a deep blue Stella McCartney dress before changing into a Givenchy jumper and pleated skirt.
And it’s probably no coincidence that Meghan chose the same shade for the recent wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, wearing a bespoke navy dress and suit by Givenchy, just before Kensington Palace announced her pregnancy to the world.
With a royal baby on the way and the world's eyes on her, Meghan’s wardrobe choices could be sending a clear message that she is more committed to her royal duties than ever before.
We can't wait to see what she wears next!
