Kate Middleton's style icon has always been Princess Diana - even before she met Prince William
We're not surprised!
A source has revealed that Kate Middleton has always looked up to Princess Diana, when it comes to her style, even before she met Prince William.
- The Duchess of Cambridge's style has always been compared to Princess Diana's
- From her lavish premiere dresses to have day to day suits she's always tried to emulate her mother-in-law's style
- In other royal news, The ‘daft’ royal tradition ended by the Queen after Prince Philip’s complaints revealed
Kate Middleton's style is spot on, and she's always landing comparisons to Princess Diana's style - whether it's the white power suit which gave us serious vibes, or her Bond dress at the 007 premiere that sparked Princess Diana déjà vu for royal fans.
Now, a royal source has said that, even before she met Prince William, her ultimate style icon was her late mother-in-law Princess Diana - and we love this revelation.
Just recently Kate channelled Princess Diana, for the Platinum Jubilee, when she wore a belted white blazer with a matching skirt and simple, elegant jewelry. And while we've seen her wear Princess Diana-inspired outfits regularly, its not a new thing.
A royal source told US Weekly recently, “Kate admired Diana’s taste in fashion before William came into her life. During her school days she’d tell friends that Diana was her style icon.”
“It would be wrong to say that Kate is trying top Diana as the royal family’s best dressed. A more accurate description is that she is taking inspiration from the late Princess and wanted to pay homage to on the night of the No Time to Die premiere by channelling the dress Diana wore at the View To A Kill premiere,” the source added.
We haven't seen much of Kate's fashion recently as she's taking an extended break with Prince William and the children for the summer.

However, this doesn't stop some of her favourite pieces selling out - the designer slingback shoes Kate wore at the Commonwealth games sold out straight away earlier this month when she wore them two days in a row.
The Camilla Elphick low-heel leather shoes which she wore with a suit, and the next day with a dress, were a favourite among royal fans - and they were even more delighted when the brand revealed they were back in stock last week.
