Kate Middleton has stepped out in a light green dress for her first full day in The Bahamas, braving torrential rainfall to show off the whimsical outfit in all its glory.

  • Kate Middleton has worn a stunning mint-green, chiffon dress to a school in Nassau, the Bahamas, for her first full day of engagements with Prince William on the islands.
  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were struck by extremely heavy rainfall as they arrived at Sybil Strachan Primary School on Friday morning, after flying from Jamaica the previous day.

Prince William and Kate Middleton's first day in The Bahamas appears to have gotten off to a dreary start, thanks to the onset of torrential rain drenching the usually sunny island.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in the Commonwealth nation on Thursday after completing the first two legs of their week-long Caribbean royal tour in Belize and Jamaica, respectively.

Their first full day in The Bahamas, which will mark the final destination on the trip in honor of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, kicked off on Friday morning with a visit to Sybil Strachan Primary School on the island of New Providence.

Unfortunately, the couple's engagement was dampened (literally) by a sudden downfall of heavy rain shortly before they arrived. The bad weather didn't let up in time for Kate and Will's arrival, forcing the married pair to risk getting soaked as they emerged from their vehicle.

"We seem to have brought the weather with us!" Prince William joked after he and Kate had entered the academic facility.

The Duchess was also in good spirits, smiling brightly and quipping, "Oh my gosh, the weather—sorry we've brought England's rain with us."

By the looks of Kate's outfit, it appears her royal stylist was also unprepared for the relentless showers. The 40-year-old looked ready for a summer picnic in a mint green chiffon dress by Self-Portrait and Nadia Irena jewellery, as well as pair of gorgeous—but admittedly unsuitable—white Emmy London heels.

Kate Middleton's hair, worn down with effortless curls, remained dry under the protection of her yellow and blue umbrella—a likely nod to The Bahamas' flag colors.

The Duke and Duchess was received by a Guard of Honor formed by pupils, the Minister of Education, Glenys Hanna-Martin, and the school's principal, Ricardo Rolle. They then joined an assembly, where children from both Sybil Strachan and other schools had congregated to welcome their royal guests.

A performance from the school choir and a traditional Rake n' Scrape band followed, before the couple headed into a classroom to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic with students.
