Kate Middleton looked stunning in a sparkly boucle jacket in a new video posted online, in which she paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

In a special pre-recorded introduction for the festive concert, called Royal Carols: Together At Christmas, which airs on Christmas Eve, Kate said she was "thrilled" to return to Westminster Abbey for a second year.

She said, "Her Majesty held Christmas close to her heart, as a time that brought people together and reminded us of the importance of faith, friendship and family, and to show empathy and compassion.

"This year, we’ve invited hundreds of inspiring individuals to the service. Those who showcase the power of connectedness and community values, allowing us to continue Her Majesty's tradition of recognising and thanking those who have gone above and beyond to support others."

Touching on the fact that this Christmas will be the first without Queen Elizabeth, the Princess of Wales added, "Her Majesty leaves with us an incredible legacy and one that has deeply inspired many of us.

"So, whilst Christmas will feel very different this year, we can still remember the memories and traditions we shared. Take time to slow down and celebrate with family and friends all the wonderful things that make Christmas so special."

Fans were quick to praise Kate for her kind words, as well as her 'classy' outfit.

"Princess Catherine, you look absolutely beautiful! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" one fan commented.

Another added, "Kate is always a source of positivity and grace. Queen material." While a third royal fan commented, "Epitome of elegance, what a role model. Her majesty was and still would be so proud of all you do."

Kate was joined by several members of the royal family including the Prince of Wales and their children, plus King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.

The Prince and Princess of Wales decided against joining King Charles' Christmas lunch at Windsor Castle earlier this week, according to inside sources.

The Prince and Princess of Wales had been expected to attend the King's Christmas lunch at Windsor with their three kids, but ultimately were nowhere to be seen on the day. Like many parents with young children in school, it's very possible that William and Kate were simply eager to start their festive celebrations as soon as the academic term finished.

If this is the case, it's likely that the Wales clan has already left Adelaide Cottage for Amner Hall, where they have spent the winter break ever since it was gifted to them by the Queen in 2011.
