Mariah Carey ‘upstaged’ by her daughter, Monroe, in a beautiful duet
The supreme diva Mariah Carey has competition – her own daughter
Mariah Carey is recognized as one of the most talented vocalists of this generation, with very few rivals to her multi-octave range.
Even a wardrobe malfunction mid performance didn’t upstage Mariah recently, or knock her off her game.
However, even Mariah’s biggest fans were absolutely delighted to see the diva finally upstaged – simply because the person doing the upstaging was Mariah’s own daughter.

The All I Want for Christmas Is You singer took to the stage at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena last night (December 9) and surprised fans by bringing out her daughter, Monroe.
The pair performed an adorable (and impressive) rendition of Away in a Manger and fans were quick to sing the praises of Monroe’s vocal abilities, joking “Not Roe Roe eating her mother up” (a colloquial phrase for outperforming).
Another added, “Singing like her Mama! What a beautiful moment.”
“The apple didn’t fall far…” another agreed. Clearly Monroe has proven she can stand alongside the greats.

Monroe has previously been dubbed Mariah’s mini me in terms of looks, after the mom-daughter duo showed off matching hairstyles, but it turns out Monroe has also inherited her mother’s talent, too.
Monroe is Mariah’s only daughter – a twin alongside brother Moroccan. She shares the eleven year olds with her ex-husband Nick Cannon.
The couple separated in 2014 and have kept a cordial relationship since. Monroe and Moroccan are Nick’s oldest children out of eleven, with a twelfth on the way.
Mariah frequently refers to them as Roc (or Rocky) and Roe and has previously opened up about their talents.
“Rocky is a technical genius,” the We Belong Together singer told E! News. “He could do anything he wanted, and I will support him. He and Roe are both such creative geniuses! Honestly their tone, when they sing, is so beautiful, and I'm so thankful that they inherited that from me. I can't wait to see what and who they grow up to be!”
“When they want to be involved and feel like it will be something fun, they show up, attend rehearsals, and get really into it,” she added in the same interview. “It's such a joy to be able to watch them when they're fully engaged, relating to their other friends — many of which are aspiring singers or dancers who weren't born into the entertainment world.”
