'The timing was never right': Lisa Snowdon candidly shares her experience with baby loss at 41
The presenter speaks candidly about losing her 'miracle child' and having a family without a baby of her own
Lisa Snowdon has opened up about losing a baby at 41, sharing insight into her fertility journey before miscarrying what she hoped would be her "miracle child."
During an appearance on the Second Act podcast, Lisa, 54, tells host Ateh Jewel that in coming to terms with not being a mother, she realised the timing had never been right for her to step into parenthood.
"I did have a termination in my mid 20s," she shares, explaining that she "didn't want to be connected" to the man who was the father.
He failed to attend the appointment with her to confirm the pregnancy, and when she went home to tell the unnamed man the news, she recalls he was "still in bed asleep," despite it being the afternoon.
"He was just not a good guy," she shares, adding that although a "hard decision," it was ultimately a "good decision" not to continue with the pregnancy.
"Then I lost a baby in my early 40s," Lisa shares, adding that she thought this would be her "miracle child" at 41.
She recalls entering into a "mourning, sadness and grieving period" after her miscarriage, before then hitting perimenopause.

Lisa says with honesty that on reflection, having a baby and being in perimenopause would've been incredibly difficult.
The presenter recalls also being asked invasive questions about whether or not she would adopt a child, but was firm that this wasn't something she wanted to pursue. "I didn't want to adopt, I definitely wanted my own child," she says directly.
"It wasn't meant to be," Lisa shares, although she says positively that she's "never felt childless."
"I do have Finley, Willow and Rudy and they're my sister's kids," she says, continuing, "And I'm very much in their lives and have been from the beginning."
Lisa describes her nieces and nephews as "filling my cup when it came to the love" and she "couldn't love them more than if they were my own."
The presenter reveals that it has taken her some time to get to the point where not being a mother "doesn't hurt my heart anymore," realising that "life's too short" to keep dwelling on the situation.
"Life is going too fast, I want to live in the moment," she explains. Lisa also shares insight into recently deciding to end her 12-year relationship with George Smart, revealing that she had already decided being a mother wasn't going to happen when they met, and this was something they didn't choose to explore together.
Sharing the reasons for the split, Lisa says, "You just grow apart." She adds, "There were some great times, and I refuse to look back at it all being really negative."
She concludes, "People change, and what's going to be in my future? It's exciting."
