Jerry Hall is relying on her 'competitive nature' after her children thought she was too old for The Celebrity Traitors
The supermodel is the oldest contestant taking part in this year’s series - but she’s more than up for the challenge
Jerry Hall has reached that age where her adult children have started trying to parent the parent - but she’s not ready to be dismissed as too old to do anything just yet.
The iconic model and actress is gearing up to take part in the much-anticipated second series of The Celebrity Traitors, and despite her children thinking she was too old to get really stuck in with it all, Jerry’s letting her competitive nature power her through.
In an interview, the model, who shares four children with The Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, revealed their concerns with her taking part, saying, "They worry. They’re like, ‘You think you’re younger than you are. You and Dad are always doing things that you did in your twenties that maybe you shouldn’t be doing now!’"
Despite their worries, Jerry isn’t in agreement. She shared with The Telegraph, "I am the oldest person doing it, but I am quite an active person.
"I don’t sit down much. I have a lot of animals - two dogs, a cat, three horses, eight chickens. I do a lot of gardening. I’m very, very busy, and then I babysit my three grandchildren a lot."
There’s something else keeping the 70-year-old motivated - good, old fashioned competitiveness.
Of the series ahead - which is famous for its mind games as well as the often physically demanding challenges, Jerry revealed, "My competitive nature will always override any fear. I’m throwing myself into this because I want to win for my charity."

"I’m very competitive, as is Mick and our children,” she added. "We’re all very competitive. We love playing games, and everyone always wants to win.
"You know, if there are teams, we’re then driving each other on in those teams - it would be like, why’d you do that? No, you should have done that!"
Not dissuaded by being the elder statesman of this year’s celebrity line-up, which also includes actor Richard E. Grant, singer James Blunt and comedian Miranda Hart, Jerry offered the surprising - if not necessarily useful - skills she’s bringing to the castle.
She told the outlet, "I have my captain’s licence, I’ve got my winemaking certificate…I was a girls’ leg wrestling champion in my school district growing up, which is very popular in Texas." Well, surely a warning to anyone who dares accuse Jerry of being a Traitor.
The second series of The Celebrity Traitors debuts at 8pm on Thursday, October 1 on BBC One and iPlayer. It’ll air twice a week - Thursdays and Fridays - for the following four weeks, with the finale set to air on October 30.
