Andy Cohen apology—here's why the TV host said sorry to nurses around the world
On his late-night show, Andy Cohen first offended and then apologized to nurses worldwide for commenting on their looks
Earlier this week on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the host felt compelled to apologize to nurses around the world after expressing surprise at the fact that guest Ciara Miller, a nurse and a member of the Summer House cast on Bravo, was attractive.
"Hi, Ciara, you’re looking so beautiful. Wow," said Andy, who recently celebrated 15 years of The Real Housewives with a throwback photo. "You’re actually a nurse? And This is what you look like? Wow."
As soon as Andy made those comments, watchers took to Twitter to condemn them, calling out his implication that nurses aren’t generally attractive.
"ALL NURSES ARE HOT🔥🔥🔥 #WWHL," a Twitter user wrote on the platform.
"@Andy—are u saying nurses don’t typically look good? 🧐 For as political correct as @BravoTV likes to be, kind of a weird comment….," someone else noted.
Yet another user wrote, "Why did Andy say 'you’re a nurse and this is what you look like?!' As if nurses aren’t attractive. Ciara is obviously STUNNING but I know many beautiful nurses. 🤔 #WWHL #SummerHouse."
Another user even posted a series of photos of herself, noting how great she looked on the day she "got pinned as a [registered nurse]."

Andy was made aware of the backlash in the middle of the show and immediately took the opportunity to apologize on air.
"Just want to say before going, if I have offended the nurses of America and internationally. I apologize," Andy said. "I was merely mentioning that Ciara looks like a supermodel. I know that many nurses look—it’s no condemnation of nurses."
Ciara chimed in saying, "All nurses are hot."
"All nurses are hot but the most important thing is, all nurses have the biggest hearts in the universe, and they are beautiful inside and out," Andy continued. "I am sorry if I offended anyone."
This isn't the first time Andy has apologized for comments he's made. During his CNN New Year's Even special with Anderson Cooper at the beginning of the year, Andy went on a rant about former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, ABC, and Ryan Seacrest. Although he later apologized to Ryan and ABC on his own radio show, Andy did stand by his remarks about Bill.
Clearly, the Bravo star is learning how to control his behavior.
