During an appearance at an event in Los Angeles all about menopause and women’s health, Halle Berry shared how she's accepting changes in her appearance as she turns 60 - and she's happy it hasn't turned her into a "monster".

When asked what she learnt to embrace as she enters a new decade, she replied, "My new face and body."

"It is changing. I look in the mirror every day and I see, ‘Oh God, there’s one thing that wasn’t there last week,’ but what I’m proud of is that I can learn to accept that and not turn myself into a monster with all kinds of things we could do today."

The Oscar winner added, "I can accept ageing as a natural part of life and I can know that I’m more than this body and this face that I’m walking around in."

Previously, Halle has revealed what she does to keep her body active as she ages, revealing she does "no cardio" and focuses on lifting weights.

She also revealed one of the greatest lessons for her has been learning to set boundaries and put herself first - without any regret.

She told the audience, "I have no more guilt about it. I do it at will, and I tell my family that all the time. ‘No, I’m not doing that. How about you do that for yourself?'"

She continued, "You learn how to say no with no guilt. You can say no with love because you’re choosing to love yourself. And that’s what I’ve really come to terms with… loving myself has been, I think, the greatest gift to show up in my life."

As well as this newfound freedom to choose herself, Halle shared what she wanted other women to know.

"I think as I’m aging, I’m learning that confidence just grows. It grows. You become more of yourself. And that’s why I say this time of life, whenever I’m talking to women, I tell them, this is going to be your best chapter.

"It’s your ‘I have zero f***s to give’ chapter. And you really start to patronize yourself.”

Halle celebrated her 60th birthday on August 14, and shared snaps from her dreamy holiday with fans on social media. Just before she entered the new decade, she revealed in an interview that 60 was absolutely nothing like she thought it was going to be when she was younger.

She told NewBeauty, "I can’t say that I thought this is what 60 would be like! I am wildly surprised that I feel like I feel at 60.

"When I was in my 20s, I thought, ‘Oh, 60 is going to be really old.’ If this is what 60 is, it’s not really old. That’s what I want every woman to know. I feel like my best self. I really do.

"I have finally arrived to being who I really am. And that’s a really good feeling. Ageing is a privilege. I’m so lucky that I’m still here."
