The reason why Piers and Susanna won't be on Good Morning Britain for a few months

Regular viewers of Good Morning Britain will be facing a change to their morning TV watching, as Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid prepare to take a few months off work for summer.

On Tuesday's show, controversial co-host Piers announced the news, revealing that his and Susanna's last episode would be today (18th July).

He said, joking, "It's our last day tomorrow, so you may as well tune in because I'm completely demob happy and anything could happen."

Susanna smiled alongside Piers, before the pair cut to Lorraine Kelly, whose show was coming up next.

Piers then asked Lorraine if she or Susanna would miss him more - to which Lorraine sarcastically replied "Yeah... sure, of course I will."

It's thought that GMB hosts Susanna and Piers will return to screens in September, after around six weeks off.

Their departure follows Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, who also enjoy a leisurley few months break from presenting This Morning.

The news that Piers and Susanna wouldn't be on our TV sets for a while received a mixed response from viewers, with some jokingly delighted that they wouldn't have to keep up with Piers' controversial hosting for a few weeks.

One viewer said, 'That’ll be the fastest 6.5 weeks in my life 😂'. Another agreed 'Thank god for that.'

However, others were sad to see the hosts depart for a short while, admitting they'll 'miss' them.

One fan wrote, 'Going to miss you both over the summer, have a good break.', while another said, '😢😢 that’s rubbish, it’s always a good start to the morning when you two are on x'.

Some fans even joked that Susanna would be relieved to have a few weeks off from presenting alongside Piers.

A social media user said of Susanna to Piers, 'Didn't you hear the champagne corks popping in her dressing room? #MorganOut'. And another responded, 'Bet she can’t bloody wait'.

Although there has not yet been a confirmation of who will take over from the duo whilst they're off, many are speculating that Richard Madeley may take over.

Richard has regularly filled in for Piers during his days off, and has proven popular with fans of the show.

Many have also guessed that Kate Garraway will step in for Susanna Reid - as she often does when Susanna is away from the show.
