Weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was rushed to hospital after a bike accident.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, who took part in the ITV ballroom competition back in 2015, took to her Twitter account to update fans on her encounter.

Revealing that she had been knocked off her bike by a car while she was cycling, the BBC Breakfast star let her thousands of followers know that she was taken to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, Berkshire.

Been off following an accident,’ she wrote on her Twitter page.

Got knocked off my bike by a car and got injured.

‘Biggest thanks ever to the Police (Chris and Faye), the Ambulance Crew (Miranda and Stewart) who tended to me and took me to Hospital.

‘And especially Peter Foskett-Tharby at Wexham Park Hospital ♥️’.

I am overwhelmed and humbled by all your lovely tweets,’ she added. ‘Will read them properly when I get home later.

The update comes after the presenter was off from BBC Breakfast after three weeks away while she was recovering from her injury.

However, she returned to screen earlier today and fans were thrilled to see that she recovered and was back at work.

So sorry to hear that Carol, poor you!’ wrote Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins. ‘Get well soon. Sending love xxx’.

‘Lovely to see you back Carol, had wondered where you'd been,’ commented one fan on Carol’s Twitter update.
