Elton John broke many fans' hearts on Thursday when he announced his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour would be rescheduled—again. The singer was forced to postpone his tour due to ongoing health issues.

The singer shared his devastating news in an official statement on social media. He revealed a nasty fall had damaged his hip leaving him in "considerable pain and discomfort."

Despite his best efforts to get better, which included intensive physical therapy and physio, the pain has remained. Now, he estimates that his UK tour will take place in 2023 rather than in 2021.

"At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since," he wrote. "Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving."

Now, Elton has been advised to undergo surgery as soon as possible in order to get "back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications."

The Your Song singer added how thankful he's been over how patient his fans have been. He originally had to postpone his tour in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings.

We haven't heard the last of Elton though, while he works to heal, the star revealed he will still be performing at the Global Citizen charity event on September 25, 2021.

"I don't want to let a charity down," he said in the statement.

He further explained that touring takes more of a physical toll on his body compared to one performance.

While fans were sad to hear the news, most expressed their understanding and respect.

"Get well soon Sir Elton. I think it’s amazing that you are even rescheduling," one fan commented. "Peace, happiness, and good health to you."

Another person shared similar sentiment telling the star to focus on his health.

"I couldn’t even imagine what you must be going through right now," expressed another fan. "But just know that we all love you and there’s nothing more important than your health and your recovery right now!"

As Elton takes time to recover, we can at least wait knowing this isn't farewell just yet.
