"I've been obsessed with Pinterest images of bright blue houses. I love this room, but we never use it; don't look now because it is a storage heap," she explains.
We're glad we're not the only ones religiously following the Pinterest home decor trends.
"Welcome to the still not finished, but very exciting blue living room. Best thing about this is we've got blue shutters, love that, so we are gonna get curtains in," beams Ashley.
"This was my grandad's grandfather clock, aptly named, and he gave it to my mum. This was made by a female clockmaker; they were very rare, and so my grandad passed it onto my mum, saying it's for strong women, and she passed it to me as another strong woman," she says.
It's clear Ashley has mastered the art of styling a family heirloom in the home, as the grandfather clock seamlessly adds character to the space without dating it a single year.
Another change we can seriously get on board with is the swap from carpets to hardwood flooring. No more questioning if you'll ever get your carpets as clean as professionals do ever again.
"I forgot about the most exciting part: look at the floor; we've got wooden flooring. So they're still gonna paint all the trim, cos we went over the top of some other flooring," Ashley continues.
"I couldn't be happier with the art; the art was basically the whole inspo for the room. I couldn't wait to bring it into my house, so that fact that that's all now painted. I actually changed my mind; the fireplace was all blue, and then I was like, no, it needs to be broken up," points out Ashley.
