Why you can trust Woman & Home
In all honesty, I don’t really buy fancy underwear. When it comes to lingerie, I like to keep things simple by opting for function over fashion, and for everyday support I most often go for a simple t-shirt bra rather than anything overly complicated.
That was until now though, as this gorgeous bra from John Lewis is seriously pretty while being super comfortable, so I’ve been wearing it on repeat. The lacy and underwired design is the perfect balance between style and chest support, and if you're browsing for the best bras for back fat or are on the hunt for the best bras for larger busts, this gorgeous underwear should be on your shopping list.

The bra I tested was the Wren Lace Underwired Plunge Bra from the And/Or range at John Lewis, which has been one of the British clothing brand’s bestselling bras for the past three years. It has lightly padded cups, that are covered with a thin layer of gorgeous black lace with a delicate scalloped edge that flatters boobs nicely without feeling too much. It's designed to be smoothing and comfortable while looking good.
While testing it, I wore it for a full day under a t-shirt, and I considered the fabrics, the fit, and how neatly it sat under clothes without any lumps and bumps.

John Lewis And/Or Wren Lace Underwired Plunge Bra Review: Comfort & Fit
The light padding and underwired design means that this bra is structured and supportive without feeling too stiff or uncomfortable. I wore it on a busy day, and it kept my chest in check the whole time – even when running frantically for my train during the early morning commute. It's made from a mix of polyamide and elastane which makes it very lightweight and breathable too.
I found the band and cup size were true to size, and it felt comfortable all over. The semi-sheer fabric at the back looked great while being surprisingly smoothing. It sat neatly against skin without any unsightly lumps at the sides or across the back, so It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a bra that’s particularly good for disguising back fat.
It sat where it was supposed to all day without any riding up or discomfort and created just the right amount of lift and shape across my bust.
John Lewis And/Or Wren Lace Underwired Plunge Bra Review: Style
I love the matte black fabric, combined with the seriously pretty lace – it creates a subtle sexiness to the otherwise simple bra that has added lots of glamour to my everyday underwear collection. The triangular shape of the lace at the front is very feminine and super flattering on my boobs without being too flashy and it worked well with the semi sheer fabric on the band and back straps. I tried the black one, but its also available in five other colours including white, mauve, and dark brown.
John Lewis And/Or Wren Lace Underwired Plunge Bra Review: Care
I handwashed this bra and then wore it again for another full day, and it felt just as good to wear second time around. It kept its shape well and the lightweight fabric dried very quickly without any bobbling or damage.
John Lewis And/Or Wren Lace Underwired Plunge Bra Review: Verdict
I'd never really been bothered about my everyday bras looking sexy, but this gorgeous piece of lingerie has completely changed my mind. It looks super pretty on, and lifts and supports my boobs while creating a natural-looking shape. It's wonderfully comfy, and the smooth and well-designed fit means it sits invisibly under fitted clothing without any overhang under arms or at the back. It looks designer but comes it at just £34. I love it and will definitely be purchasing other colours so I can wear it on repeat with any outfit.
