  • If January's cold, dark days are making you feel a little gloomy, M&S have launched a new colourful collection which is bound to lift your spirits.

The retailer’s new spring/summer collection has just dropped, bursting with on-trend colours and florals – giving us a taste of the warmer days to come.

There’s a number of transitional pieces, too, which would look great both now and in a few months’ time.

We’ve already picked our top M&S activewear pieces, but now we have rounded up some of our fashion favourites from the new range.

But it was a tough one because the collection, as a whole, is very impressive.

    Polka Dot Waisted Midi Dress

Spots have stuck around for the past few years – most famously with 2019’s cult Zara dress. It seems the trend is back for 2020 and is bigger than ever.

This Polka Dot Waisted Midi Dress is both feminine and figure-flattering . It boasts a drawn-in waist to define shape and a flowing tiered bottom, which skims hips and thighs.

So far, this piece has been a hit on the brand’s Instagram.

One follower gushed, ‘This dress is gorgeous.’

While another commented, ‘Love the spots!’

We continually check thousands of prices to show you the best deals. If you buy a product through our site we will earn a small commission from the retailer – a sort of automated referral fee – but our reviewers are always kept separate from this process. Wool Blend Double Breasted Blazer and Trousers

Another hit piece (well two-piece) on the brand’s Instagram is the Wool Blend Blazer and Trousers.

Vibrant suits were a big trend last year and it seems tailoring with a twist is back for 2020, too.

This gorgeous pink shade gives a feminine softness to the structured piece.

It also can be dressed up or dressed down. Add a pair of trainers and a simple T-shirt for a casual look, or combine the suit with a blouse and heels for something more dressy.

    Printed V-Neck Wrap Blouse

    A timeless classic (M&S)

The details in this top make it look incredibly high-end – from the exaggerated side tie to the unusual, grandad collar.

The draped design, with the elasticated waist, makes for a super-flattering shape.

Not to mention, a blue and white floral print is always a winner for spring.

Floral Print Fit and Flare Midi Dress

    A retro feel (M&S)

Who doesn’t love a simple botanical print?

But there’s also something quite retro and wallpaper-like about this dress, which gives it plenty of talking points.

It boasts a fit and flare design, which suits a lot of different body types. This essentially means it comes in at the middle and then flows out, to create definition.

    Floral Print Slip Midi Skirt

    M&S floral skirt

    A darker floral (M&S)

A midi skirt is a transitional wardrobe staple – pair it with tights, boots and a jumper during the colder months and then swap them for a T-shirt and trainers when the warmer weather hits.

The darker florals on this skirt also help the piece work across the seasons.

    Leather A-Line Midi Skirt

Every woman should own a leather skirt (M&S)

M&S have given the traditional black leather skirt a 2020 update with this gorgeous burgundy shade and the midi design.

The buttery-soft leather gives it a designer feel and the A-line shape is great for skimming a silhouette.

    Satin Floral Print Shirt

Catch eyes in his shirt (M&S)

Tangerine is a huge colour for 2020 and this simple-yet-feminine shirt is a great way to inject the shade into your wardrobe.

Pair it with black jeans during the colder months and swap for light blue jeans when spring hits.
