Prince Andrew will not receive a Platinum Jubilee medal from the Queen, having recently been stripped of almost all his royal privileges.

The Duke of York will likely be denied a Platinum Jubilee medal from the Queen next month, after losing his eligibility for the award upon being stripped of his honorary titles.

Her Majesty will become the first-ever monarch to reach 70 years on the throne on 6 February, having inherited the throne from her father, King George VI, in 1952. The milestone occasion will be marked by a number of national celebrations, including a fun-filled extended bank holiday weekend in June.

It is customary for serving members of the Royal Family, as well as the Armed Forces, police, fire, emergency, and prison services, to receive medals from Her Majesty on her jubilees.

In 2012, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal was awarded to Prince Andrew, along with his nephew, Prince Harry, in commemoration of her 60th year on the throne. He also received a Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002, when the monarch celebrated a fifty-year-long reign, and a Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977, when she reached 25 years on the throne.

However, it's understood that Prince Andrew is no longer entitled to the prestigious award.

The Duke of York, who is the second youngest of the Queen's children, has been forced to step back from the Royal Family amid his ongoing sex abuse case.

Prince Andrew has been accused by Virginia Giuffre, one of the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring, of committing 'sexual assault and battery' against her when she was a minor. The 61-year-old, who has denied all the allegations, is now facing the possibility of a US civil trial in autumn 2022.

Last week, it was confirmed by the Queen that Prince Andrew would be stripped of his military and honors and his HRH titles, after mounting pressure from British veterans.

As a result, he has officially lost the credentials required to receive a Jubilee medal. Prince Harry, who stepped back as a senior royal in January 2020 and emigrated to the US with his wife, Meghan Markle, is also no longer eligible.
