ITV’s This Morning has sparked concern among fans this week, with Holly Willoughby having been noticeably absent and replaced by both Davina McCall and Alison Hammond.
And today, Ruth and Eamon returned to the show following news of their ‘axe’ after 14 years on the show.
Davina McCall confirmed the pair would appear on Friday’s episode of This Morning on Thursday.
Speaking after a game of Spin To Win, Davina urged people to enter and said, "Eamonn and Ruth could be calling you on tomorrow's show!"
Fans rejoiced on Friday morning when Ruth, 60, and Eamonn, 60, returned to This Morning and flocked to Twitter to celebrate their appearance.
“Good to see Eamonn and Ruth presenting today. #ThisMorning,” tweeted one fan.
Another said, “Good morning, Eamonn and Ruth! Thank god you’re still here - I almost gave up completely on this show!”
It comes after reports emerged that the TV duo will be replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on Fridays.
And, according to OK, a source close to Eamonn said he thinks it could be to do with their age.
“The viewers love them, but Eamonn has said to Ruth he wonders if it’s because they’re both 60 and too old,” the insider said.
“Ruth and Eamonn are both telly legends – they’ve done it all, so it seems unfair.”
ITV poured cold water over the rumours, saying, “We have a stellar presenting line up on This Morning in Holly and Phillip and Eamonn and Ruth.
“Any additions to this line up will be announced in due course.”
