Davina McCall hints she’s ‘devastated’ after The 100K Drop is axed

Two years after the cash prize was dropped from £1million to £100K, Channel 4 have axed the game show fronted by Davina McCall.

And, just hours after the sad news was revealed Davina took to Twitter to commiserate with gutted fans up and down the country by liking a string of tweets.

One said, “So gutted about the 100k drop being axed. Can we start a petition to get it picked up elsewhere?”

While another read, “@ThisisDavina feeling really sad just read there is to be no more #100k drop @the100kdrop devastating I loved it. Now the program has been dropped."

The show ran from 2010 to 2015 before it was brought back as a daytime show in 2018 – which £900K less up for grabs.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 confirmed the news, saying, "There are no plans for The £100k Drop to return to Channel 4.

“We’d like to thank Davina and all of the team behind the show for the numerous nail-biting moments.”

Thankfully Davina’s jam-packed schedule shows no signs of slowing down as the mum-of-three returns to our screens in January with brand new show, The Masked Singer.

The ITV show – fronted by Joel Dommett - will see 12 celebrities perform anonymously in elaborate costumes in front of a panel of "celebrity detectives" – Davina, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Ken Jeong – and a live audience.

The least popular singer is then "unmasked" if they receive the lowest number of votes from the studio audience.

With Davina having hosted the likes of Big Brother and The Jump, the 52-year-old said it was a “no brainer” to be involved in The Masked Singer.

“I heard the concept and I loved that it was a guessing game,” she said. "As soon as I heard about it I knew I wanted to do it."

"You spend your time guessing and then you'd go home at night and you'd still be thinking about it."
