Britney Spears reveals she was called 'fat' by close family member during conservatorship

Britney Spears has accused her father of destroying her self-esteem in a recent social media post, claiming that he made her feel 'ugly' throughout her conservatorship. 

The US pop star took to Instagram on Wednesday to launch a written attack on her dad, Jamie Spears, alleging that the former manager 'ruined' the 'deep seed' of her 'existence'. 

Britney, 40, made the comments alongside a sweet black-and-white photo of her as a 13-year-old girl, reminiscing that the snap was taken at "the age I actually felt kinda pretty". She claimed that this inner confidence was 'completely ruined', however, by the conservatorship implemented in 2008 after her highly-publicized mental health breakdown. 

Britney was released from the conservatorship, which severely limited her financial and personal freedoms, in 2021, following years of court appointments and a fan-led movement called 'FreeBritney'. 

"One thing the conservatorship did to me...and one of the things that hurt me the most ... is that I was always being told I was fat and never good enough," the Toxic singer said in the heartbreaking post. 

Britney added that, while she no longer feels this way, "the psychological damage from my dad and EVERY SINGLE F**KING person who went along with it [the conservatorship] will always be there." 

The Grammy-winner wrapped up the message on a positive note, telling her 41m followers that she 'kinda' feels '13 again.' 

A flood of supportive comments ensued, many of which reassured Britney of her everlasting beauty and worth. The emotional update comes just a few weeks after the mom-of-two announced that she is expecting her third child with her husband Sam Asghari. 

Britney's pregnancy was celebrated by fans and friends alike, especially in light of the disturbing revelations that the pop legend had been denied the right to remove her IUD during her conservatorship. 

Speaking publicly for the first time on the legal arrangement in June 2021, she told a Los Angeles court, "This so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children, any more children." In the same statement, Britney claimed that her father controlled her "100,000%" and labeled the conservatorship as 'abusive'.
