"Trying on all three styles, you can definitely feel a difference in terms of comfort. The Gazelle's soles felt much thinner and less likely to absorb shocks, while the Handball Spezial soles offered a more bouncy feel - perfect for those days when I'm running around on errands.

However, it was the tongue of each style where I noticed a difference in just how comfortable each pair truly was - both the Samba and Gazelle pairs have longer tongues with pointed corners that I found pressed into my ankle. The tongues of these styles are also often made of contrasting, tougher or plasticised fabrics, whereas the Handball Spezial's tongue is made of the same leather as the trainer's upper and cut on a straight and shorter finish, leading to a more comfortable experience."

How to care for Adidas trainers

An overwhelming majority of designs for all three styles are made of or feature suede panels, so therefore it's important to take preventative steps to protect your new trainers. Start by applying a protective suede and nubuck spray; not only will this stop stains from taking hold, it will also add a durable layer of water resistance, helping to prevent water marks and damage.

If your pair does get wet or muddy, stuff the toes with newspaper to prevent shrinking and leave them somewhere warm (not hot!) to dry, preferably overnight. Do not be tempted to scrub them clean as this will only push the stain into the fabric.

The outsole on this design is made from vulcanised rubber and the upper is canvas. Chunkier or platform trainers might not sound as easy to style as streamlined, plimsoll-esque ones, though they are just as versatile, especially if you choose a neutral tone like white.

They also feel a bit more contemporary and fashion-forward, whilst essentially still being just white trainers. You can wear them with exactly the same outfits you would pair with sleeker trainers and this includes whimsical, very feminine pieces like Emilia Fox’s co-ord (and many of her other seasonal favourites).

It might look like a dress at first glance but the actor stepped out in a matching set by Pink City Prints. The square-neck blouse and maxi skirt are both hand block-printed and are made from breathable cotton and trimmed with cotton lace.

If you opt for plimsolls, it could almost look like an attempt to match the elegance of the outfit without it being the same style. Chunky trainers embrace the difference instead and they’re a brilliant alternative to sandals.

Adidas Stan Smith: comfort & support

These started out as a tennis shoe, so they feel different to the lower profile, football-style Samba. The Stan Smith silhouette is better-suited to me, as I find the high cut heel on the Sambas can rub.

The only drawback for me with the Stan Smiths is that the tongue is very long, so it can cut into the front of my ankle a bit. However, I find that you can push it down underneath the laces when you slip them on, so it's never stopped me from wearing them, but it could be a downside for some people. The laces are also quite long, but again this is an easy thing to get around.

I've read reviews from people who say the lack of arch support isn't ideal. I've worn these all day when walking around cities like London and New York, and have never found them uncomfortable, but if arch support is a priority for you, it's worth considering.

Adidas Stan Smith: style

You can find white Stan Smiths with pretty much every any colour heel trim you can imagine. I used to have a pair with a tortoiseshell heel, which I loved. The three starry stripes on the side make them instantly recognisable, and all Stan Smiths have a portriat of the man himself of the tongue.

They pair well with tailored trousers, denim, dresses and skirts, so they score 10/10 if you're after versatility. They're one of adidas' bestselling and most iconic styles of all time for a reason, and of course you can try all the prints, colours, trends and fabric finishes you want, but you'll never go too far wrong with a classic pair of white leather Stan Smiths.

Adidas Stan Smith: cleaning & care

This is an area in which these trainers really excel. Made from either leather or in my case, vegan leather, the Stan Smiths simply wipe clean. I'd advise replacing or washing the laces every once in a while to give them that just-out-of-the-box feel, but otherwise, they age really well.

Let's face it, where white trainers are concerned, cleaning is a huge factor. There's nothing worse than stepping out in a box fresh style and then by the time you get home, they're looking - well, a whole lot less than fresh.

There's no doubt in my mind these are my all-time favourite trainers. The minimalist design makes them smart and versatile, and the fact I keep going back for more pairs speaks volumes.

If you're an adidas novice they're a great place to start, but trainer pros won't be disappointed either. They last a lot longer than canvas styles when it comes to cleaning, and I've never found them to be anything other than extremely comfortable.

Not all Royal fashion staples are easily accessible, but Zara Tindall's cool white Converse are the versatile wardrobe staple you might already own.

While it's not yet sunny enough to pull out our flip flops or best hiking sandals, a pair of the best white trainers are unrivalled when it comes to delivering both style and comfort in equal measure for spring. And Zara Tindall's cool white Converse are the timeless, Royal-approved pick we love as much as she does.

Zara has been pictured in the classic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Top Shoe on numerous occasions and often relies on the timeless ankle-grazing design to finish off her casual outfits. You could also dress up the shorts and trainers with a blouse or button-up shirt to bring a more business-casual touch to the outfit, perhaps opting for a matching khaki shade to give a monochrome flair to the look or you could go for a crisp white piece to tie in your footwear.

Giving us yet more inspiration on how to style her light plimsole-style trainers, Zara has also been pictured wearing them with barrel-leg style trousers in colder weather. In 2015 while playing golf, she paired them with some pinstripe suit trousers and a waterproof jacket that worked as an extra layer to protect herself from the elements - which we'll all be forced to do in spring no matter how much we want it to be sunny!

But while Zara keeps her trainers reserved for more practical, sporty outings, the timeless and classic style lends itself to a variety of styling options.

Spring has sprung and although we haven’t seen the last of the cold weather quite yet, we’re looking forward to storing away our winter boots and wearing other styles of shoes again. As much as we love having pieces in our spring capsule wardrobe which bring a pop of colour into an outfit, white trainers are one of the most versatile shoes precisely because they’re so neutral. They go with everything and the more fashion-forward design of Duchess Sophie’s PUMAs makes them easy to wear in various different ways - not just on the badminton court!

Although the senior royal put her skills to the test during the day and played a game with Para-Badminton player Rachel Choong, her white trainers would work just as well with dresses or skirts for a date night outfit, or jeans for something more relaxed. As a fashion writer, I come across hundreds of designer styles on A-listers and runways that I could only wish for. Most recently I've been eyeing the latest trainer trends of 2025, which heavily feature vintage styles and bright, bold colours including the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 trainers and the iconic Puma Speedcats. However, I'm shopping on a high-street budget, which means I need the best designer lookalikes that offer the same style and feel for a lot less than their designer counterparts.

Cosy snow boots are an absolute must-have at this time of year. I love wearing mine at weekends with skinny jeans or leggings, but when it comes to styling them for work or days when I want to feel that little bit smarter, I really struggle.

We all know that feeling of excitedly investing in a new pair of shoes that feel comfortable in the shop, only to wear them in the real world for the first time and immediately realise they're not quite as comfortable as you thought. I'm in between sizes, and so often I buy trainers that aren't quite the right fit but they're in the sale, thinking I just need to "wear them in". However, it only ends in me buying another pair and spending twice as much money.

Of course even the most comfortable trainers do need a little bit of breaking in, but here at woman&home we set out to test the styles that will become a long-term favourite in your shoe collection. This isn't about trainers to hike or run in, this is about everyday styles that will elevate your outfits without causing you any pain.

How we test trainers

We've put a lot of effort and consideration into this process, to be sure that the trainers we recommend really are the best. This is informed by woman&home's overall policy on how we test any products, but with some special considerations tailored to trainers. Early on, we set some clear parameters to be sure the process of how we test trainers is fair and thorough, and the advice we give is as accurate as it can be.

Brand selection

Our first port of call when thinking about how we test trainers was to weigh up which brands to try. We wanted to test a variety of styles, ranging from labels with a long history like adidas, to names like FitFlop, who use cutting-edge technology with your comfort in mind.

We also considered styles that are trending or have been worn by celebrities and royals. This might not matter to you, but to others this all adds to the appeal of certain trainers.

We wanted to make sure there was something for everyone, so we thought about what outfits you might want to wear your trainers with, how much you might want to spend, and problem areas that might concern you.

Style was of course a huge factor, but comfort was the priority, so there were options we ruled out based on our own (painful!) experience.

Comfort & support

Finding trainers that won't rub your heels or leave you with blisters on your toes is a tall order. And there are so many factors that can affect this. There's cushioned soles and arch support to consider and then there's the fabric to decide - leather or canvas?

Of course this can be subjective. Personally I tend to find trainers with a high-cut heel or tongue will always cut into my skin, but this wouldn't necessarily bother other people. That's why we got a range of testers, so we have different foot sizes, widths, and even issues such as plantar fasciitis.

We put them through their paces in everyday activities like the morning commute, running errands, leisurely strolls and standing for long periods of time.

Comfort also covers the fit, and how true to size they are. Generally there's a bit of an unwritten rule that you should size up a little in trainers, but my best advice would be to find a brand you love and get to know the size you are, and stick to it.

Style

Whilst you might not be too worried what your gym trainers look like, we're talking here about trainers you can wear with everything from jeans to dresses, so they have to look good. I want trainers to look smart enough to go from the office to dinner in the evening without feeling at all scruffy if people around me are wearing heels.

We won't recommend a trainer on aesthetics alone, because ultimately, comfort is the priority here. The good news is, though, that fashion and comfort aren't mutually exclusive, it just takes a bit of time to really find the models that do this best.

We all want trainers that look great and don't feel too chunky. Whilst the best white trainers feels like a bit of a default, we've tried to shake things up on colour, adding black and navy options into the mix.

The quality of the materials is a factor here. Canvas might be more affordable than leather, but is it as long-lasting? The packaging can really contribute to first impressions for me, too.

We've also thought extensively about how exactly you might wear yours. For example, when testing the best platform trainers, I wore them with smart trousers, midi dresses and leggings to see how versatile they could be.

Cleaning & care

This had to be a factor, because we all know how annoying it is when you put on a box fresh pair of trainers in the morning and come home to them looking, well, less than fresh.

We started testing for this months ago, which gives us chance to see how the trainers perform over time. For styles like the Air & Grace Sadie platform trainers, we followed our own step by step guide on how to clean white shoes. The truth is, maintenance is a huge part of their longevity. If you don't have the time to be scrubbing trainers and want to be able to chuck them in the washing machine, then suede styles just aren't going to be for you.

I wore them for hours without discomfort and absolutely no rubbing.

What truly makes these trainers stand out, however, is their style, this design feels effortlessly cool while maintaining a timeless quality, that not many brands can easily pull off. I immediately did what you're definitely not supposed to do when breaking in new trainers: walk a mile in them! For a moment I thought the heel was starting to rub but it was actually my sock, and when I sorted that out, the padded suede suede heel was a dream.

The padding is the thing that really stands out here. The sides underneath your ankle and even the tongue boasts incredibly springy padding that makes them very comfortable.

I would say I think the sizing is ever so slightly on the smaller side, as is so often is the case with trainers. I'm a UK 3.5 and went for a 4, but in hindsight I might have gone a size up, especially if you want to wear a thicker sock. Their range does go up to a UK 9.5, which is impressive.

Platform trainers take a minute to get used to, as there's not quite as much flexibility in the sole as you're used to, but honestly I forgot they were platform after half an hour. They're certainly heavier than flat sole trainers, but Air & Grace's patented Tender Loving Air comfort footbed (multiple layers of high-performance foam) does what it says on the tin.

These are a sleek style and feel far from chunky when they're on. The 4cm platform sole gives you an impressive boost, and I love the perforated 'A' detailing on the side. The grained leather is incredibly soft and just looks expensive.

For my first test of these, I wore them to a post-work dinner, and I can't tell you how perfect they were for this. They feel that bit more elevated (quite literally!) than regular trainers, and just gave my simple look a bit of a lift.

I'd say they're the ideal shoes to wear with wide leg trousers, but I've since worn them a lot with my everyday denim. They work well with wide leg jeans to make your legs look super long, but I also found myself wanting to pair them with more cropped styles so I could show them off!

I'm going to start by saying I was fully prepared to write how adidas Sambas are very much style over substance. But I'm very happy to report I couldn't have been more wrong.

I had been searching for a pair of the most comfortable trainers for women for a while – fashion, not gym trainers – so when adidas presented its original Sambas in all their retro black and white glory, I couldn't resist. But I was apprehensive. I have wide feet and live in trainers outside of work, and so need shoes I can comfortably walk around in all day. But surely these were far too chic to be functional too, right?

Wrong. I bought my Sambas back in January this year, and have worn them almost daily ever since - without a single blister. They are the most versatile trainer I own, working with everything from casual joggers and jeans, to more formal workwear in the office.

Adidas Samba review: comfort & support

It's hard to find fashion trainers that offer a good enough level of all-day comfort and support. But the biggest surprise I found with adidas' Sambas is how comfortable they were from the minute I put them on. You expect, to some degree, a little time to 'wear' shoes in - not these.

I guess, when you look into the Samba's history, however, that's not so surprising. These shoes date back to the 1950s, and were initially designed as trainers to play football in. Obviously their purpose has changed, with them now much more focussed on fashion than football, however the construction is clearly still very much aimed at comfort and flexibility to move. And that is obvious as soon as you wear them. They are light enough to not feel heavy on your feet, flexible to let your feet move freely and a smooth midsole and gum rubber outsole provide just the right amount of cushioning and grip.

Of course, there are trainers available now with specific technology to help keep feet comfortable all day. Are the Sambas as comfortable and good for your feet as those? Doubtful. But when it comes to comfortable fashion trainers – and I've tried a lot – these are the best I found to date.

Adidas Samba review: Style

I mean, what can I say about style that you probably don't already know - or can see. Just look at them. What I love the most about these trainers is how versatile they are. I invested in two classic pairs - black and white - and I could happily never wear another shoe all year as these go with almost every outfit I own.

They are casual enough for everyday, but chic enough to wear with more formalwear and not look out of place. They are sporty but in a sophisticated way, and the signature Adidas stripes offer a retro feel I will never tire of. The mixture of suede and leather elevates the look overall – even the gum sole adds styling detail they would be amiss without (and offers amazing grip). The style makes me feel cool when I put them on, and, comfort-aside, that's what I want from a pair of fashion trainers.

Adidas Samba review: Cleaning and care

While the mixed material elevates adidas Sambas, they also make cleaning them a little tricky. My black pair fair very well, a quick wipe with some lukewarm water works wonders on the leather, and I find a suede brush is all that's needed to give the front panel a new lease of life.

My white pair, however, require much more in the way of maintenance. I decided straight away to help protect them, particularly the light taupe suede at the front, and covered them in Crep Protect shoe protector spray. If I could recommend one thing to keep your Sambas clean and help them last as long as possible, it would be to invest in a suede brush and protector spray – the difference they make to the longevity and look of your trainers is huge.

Adidas Samba review: Verdict

You'd be hard pushed to walk down the road and not spot someone wearing a pair of adidas trainers right now – and for good reason. Not only are they stylish, they are so versatile (they honestly go with everything), and comfortable for all day wear – surprisingly so, in fact.

At a little under £100 a pair, they are an investment piece, but cheaper than many other main brand trainers on the market, and when you consider the amount of wear you will get out of them, and just how many outfits you can pair them with, they are excellent value for money. If you're anything like me, the biggest issue you'll have with these is choosing a colourway (and then not being able to decide so buying multiple pairs).

Jennifer Aniston's layered-up autumnal outfit is the perfect look for shockingly cold days this season, with her statement hat and comfortable white trainers keeping you cosy and warm.

Choosing pieces for our autumn capsule wardrobes, we often lean towards practicality more so than style. We want cosy knitwear and winter boots that are comfortable and keep us warm as the weather begins to turn.

But a look of Jennifer Aniston's from back in 2015 has proved that just because you want to keep cosy in the autumn wind, it doesn't mean you have to forgo style in order to do it.

Spotted on the streets of New York, Jennifer kept things casual in a pair of slim-fit denim jeans, styling them with a pair of comfortable white trainers that remind us of the viral Superga canvas trainers our reviewer recently tried out and loved.

Elevating the basic pieces, Jennifer bundled up in a variety of autumn-ready layers in muted shades to help her battle the chill. For her first layer, she's wearing a fitted black jumper, with the tight-to-the-skin silhouette keeping in her body warmth. Over that, she threw on a floating longline cardigan, with the billowing style adding a lighter colour to the darker outfit.

For even more warmth, she then added a sage green canvas-style jacket over the top and wrapped a thick scarf around her neck too. She finished the look with a black felt hat, with the wide brim pulled down low to protect her face from the cold.

For me, a pair of flat workout shoes is an essential in my gym bag - and the Lululemon Strongfeel shoes have had a permanent place since I started wearing them a couple of years ago. Uniquely designed for the female foot, I feel like I'm not wearing anything at all as I squat, deadlift, lunge, and walk through my workouts.

While you might think of Lululemon for pairs of the best workout leggings, the brand has several trainer styles, with the Strongfeel specially designed for strength training and gym workouts.

When it comes to gym trainers, I'm not easily impressed. I like combining cardio with weights - and few trainers can do both. To test the Lululemon Strongfeel shoes, I originally wore them for two weeks in all my normal workouts and walking to and from the gym. Two years later, they're still on my feet - and now in the Lululemon sale.

Quick review

I wear the Lululemon Strongfeel shoes for my resistance workouts, which include using dumbbells, a barbell, and some machines. I get onto the treadmill and the indoor bike, and I walk to and from the gym in them. After wearing them for a few years for this, a couple of times a week, I think anyone doing similar activities is perfectly suited to these shoes.

The flat sole allows for closer contact with the ground and a stable platform to lift from, cutting out the chances of falling off balance, which is especially important when lifting heavier weights. I also find it helps me feel more engaged and I can feel my muscles working like never before.

The cushioning makes heel-to-toe striking comfortable on the treadmill, and small lugs on the bottom of the shoe provide some traction outdoors. However, they aren't suitable as running shoes, and when I do run in the gym, I switch them over to my Hoka Clifton 10 (my current favourite).

What's it like to wear these Lululemon trainers?

The Lululemon Strongfeel trainers are very comfortable. I opted for a whole size up from my normal size 8, as I have slightly wider feet, and I wanted the extra room. The brand encourages buyers to go half a size up anyway, as they are made with US sizes and "run small".

When I first slipped them on, the sides and upper felt quite rigid - but just a short walk to the gym and some foot flexion in my stretching routine later and the rigidity was gone, replaced instead by an intense comfort and supportive feeling, especially around the midfoot and heel.

Some reviewers note that the shoes aren't very breathable - and I'd have to agree. At the end of my workout, I did notice that my feet felt a little sweatier than usual. However, this has faded with time and didn't impact the experience. Sweaty feet are also to be expected after an hour in the gym. I wore these shoes during the summer months when the temperature reached 28 degrees, and in the winter, my toes were snugly warm on my strolls to the gym.

I noticed that the sole of the shoe in my chosen colourway was quick to mark, especially on the sides, being white and pale blue, though the actual fabric of the shoe stayed clean. I wipe mine down along the sides if they muddy before heading inside. As these shoes are hand-wash only, this is something to consider. If you're doing lots of workouts where you're splashing or find yourself scuffing your shoes, you can't just throw them in the washing machine.

Design and fit of the Lululemon Strongfeel trainers

From opening the box and taking a brief look at the shoe, it doesn't appear to be much different from some of the other gym trainers I've tried - like the Reebok Nano X4, which were my last pair. On closer inspection, the small design elements that make this a superior shoe became very obvious.

For starters, the heel base is slightly wider than the width of the shoe, providing a stable base for strength training workouts where the majority of movements require a push from your midfoot and heel. This design feature adds a sense of security and balance, so I felt I could just get on with my workout, confident that my shoes weren't going to let me down. It sounds like a basic achievement, but trust me, it's one that not every gym shoe fulfils.

While the exterior appearance of the shoe is minimal, small panels made of water-resistant fabric cover the outside of the shoe. This comes in very handy when I'm walking to the gym in rainy seasons. There's nothing worse than wet toes. However, this is missing from the sides of the shoe just above the sole, where water sometimes splashes up.

Directly below the laces on the sides of the shoe is another panel made of the same thick fabric. It loops through two lines of laces, adding extra traction when you tighten the laces, improving support down the sides of the shoe, and enhancing that 'locked in' feeling. Just excellent.

Years on, I'd say they are a pair of the most durable workout shoes I've owned. While they certainly look different to when they were new, they offer just the same amount of support, coverage, and even more comfort than when I bought them.

Testing: Gym workouts

I wore these Lululemon trainers for four gym workouts over two weeks, strength training for just over an hour each time. During these workouts, I focused on compound movements like the barbell squat, deadlift, military press, and chest press. I also performed some single-leg exercises, such as a Bulgarian split squat, on a bench and used the leg raise machine.

Needless to say, the shoes were hard at work - and I was very impressed. The heel of the shoe felt stable under my feet during the squat, allowing me to push comfortably upwards through the movement without a wobble. The toe box is spacious enough to allow toes to spread out as needed, while still offering support down the sides of the foot.

Testing: Walking and stationary bike

The Lululemon Strongfeel trainers aren't designed to be running shoes - that's the Lululemon Beyondfeel shoe - but I walk 30 minutes a day to the gym and like to do a little cardio at the beginning of my strength training workout to warm up, so I was interested to see if these shoes could cover the basics of an uphill treadmill walk. I also tested the Strongfeel trainers for indoor cycling on a stationary bike.

On the bike, I barely noticed the shoes were there. They were held in place on the pedals by the straps. The cushioning came in useful when riding while standing up, though, as the additional pressure on the balls of my feet could have been uncomfortable. In the past, when I've worn thinner trainers, I could feel this pressure on the balls of my feet when I got off the bike. I didn't feel this at all with the Strongfeel trainers.

Walking to the gym, I didn't notice much difference between walking in the Strongfeel trainers and my running shoes - except perhaps a little less propulsion in my steps. But who needs that? On the treadmill, it became a little more obvious that these shoes aren't designed for higher-impact cardio, as it wasn't so easy to roll through the uphill walk as with other shoes. For a quick warm-up, though, I have no complaints, and I got off the treadmill ready for my workout.

Are the Lululemon Strongfeel trainers worth it?

Yes, absolutely. Now I've tried the Lululemon Strongfeel trainers, I'm not going back. For me, the support is unmatched by any other trainer I've had - and I've had many over the years. Given these are on sale now as well, they're a budget-friendly buy in the world of workout shoes, and I'll be stocking up before they sell out when I need a new pair. In movements that need stability and balance, these are a winner thanks to the wide heel support and locked-in feeling of the upper.

They are also significantly more stylish than many other gym trainers out there, being available in both neutral palettes and bright colourways and with minimal external design features.

My only issue with them is the combined lack of breathability and hand-wash-only care instructions. Together, it's not a match made for freshness.

Queen Letizia’s straight leg jeans and trainers are a timeless style pairing we always find ourselves coming back to.

Once you find the best jeans for your body type they naturally become your most-worn style, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth branching out and trying other designs occasionally too. One of the most classic jeans styles that works for everything from running errands to an evening out is the humble straight-leg jean. Not quite as relaxed as wide-leg jeans and nowhere near as streamlined as skinny jeans, they are a lovely balance between being comfortable and incredibly elegant.

She went to watch the Men's Single MS3 Round of 32 match between Alexander Ohgren of Sweden and Eder Rodriguez of Spain on 1st September and also met with members of Team Spain. For this outing the Queen of Spain wore a patterned Paralympic T-shirt tucked into her light blue, straight-leg jeans. The white T-shirt had short sleeves, a crew-neckline and pops of lime green, red, blue, yellow and black across it. 

The design was reportedly inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso and the T-shirt looked so chic with Queen Letizia’s choice to wear lighter-toned blue jeans. They reflected the brightness of the hues on her top and also gave her whole look a relaxed feel. The straight-leg silhouette isn’t something we see often from Her Majesty, but it worked so well here for an occasion where she wanted to look semi-smart.

The more form-fitting shape balanced the casualness of the lighter blue tone and the high-waisted fit was gorgeous. This is something that’s always good to look out for if you want to accentuate your waist as high-waisted designs are so flattering for this. Straight-leg jeans are also great for this time of year as they’re so versatile to style in slightly different weathers - as Woman&Home’s Digital Fashion Editor Caroline Parr explains.

"You can try all the barrel shape, wide leg and animal print jeans you want, but straight-cut blue denim is a style you'll always come back to. Jessica Ennis-Hill may not be competing in this year's Olympic Games in Paris but she has taken the event by storm with her stunning outfit choices. Her ME+EM skirt was high waisted, with gorgeous ribbed detailing to the fabric that meant it draped beautifully and had plenty of movement to it. As the Royal Family are known for wearing a lot of blue it’s perhaps no surprise that Duchess Sophie incorporated several shades of blue into her outfit, starting with the soft icy blue colour of her skirt.

This fresh pastel hue is perfect for summer and is a great option for anyone who usually sticks to neutral pieces as it’s not too bold and works wonderfully with beige, white, black and navy. The Duchess of Edinburgh proved this at the Royal Windsor Horse Show as she paired it with a simple white T-shirt which had a contrasting navy pocket on the front.

Duchess Sophie could’ve easily tucked her top into her maxi skirt, but instead she leant into the more relaxed, boxy fit of it by leaving it loose. This is a useful tip for styling maxi skirts if you don’t want them to look overly dressy and her trainers helped to add a casual feel to her outfit too. 

They had a white sole and very pale grey uppers with a similar streamlined style to her beloved Puma Carina Trainers. The cool tones of this grey colour worked well with the icy blue skirt, though her favourite white trainers would have looked equally as stunning. For a long day at the Royal Windsor Horse Show trainers were also a very practical choice as Duchess Sophie could walk around in complete comfort and enjoy her time there, whilst still looking very stylish.

She coordinated the navy on her T-shirt to her tailored dark navy blazer, which she alternatively wore as a layer and carried in the changeable weather. The Duchess of Edinburgh also added a navy fedora hat at certain points throughout the day for a fashion-forward edge and protected her eyes from the sun with sunglasses.

With her golden hair left loose and parted to the side, Duchess Sophie exuded casual elegance in this summer outfit. Even three years later her trainer and maxi skirt combination is still one we love to wear and it’s easy to layer up if the British weather isn’t on our side. At this year’s show the Duchess wore another long blue skirt, this time styled with knee high boots and a suede jacket on a cooler May day.

Pamela Anderson just proved why a white t-shirt, jeans and trainers are a classic combination, making the relaxed combination look oh-so-chic. 

There's nothing we love more than a simple outfit formula that looks amazing, particularly if its relaxed and comfortable. And Pamela Anderson just showcased one of our favourites, which needs just three items – a white top, jeans and a pair of the best white trainers.
