After what felt like one of the biggest build ups to an announcement in history, the new Strictly presenters have been revealed.

After Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly shared the news they were stepping away from their roles as hosts in October last year, speculation immediately began over who would replace them.

Dozens of potential names were thrown into the mix, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe finally being confirmed as taking over the Strictly presenting reins this week.

Zoe Ball was a fan favourite to take over, and certainly one of the front runners. She has shared her feelings of grief and rejection at not landing the role, while Sara Cox has now revealed she entered into the audition process, calling it "great fun" despite being unsuccessful.

While fan reactions to Emma and Johannes as the new presenters have been largely positive, they have been a little more mixed for Josh, ranging from bewildered to thrilled by such an unexpected curve ball.

The public have been waiting for the Strictly judges to give their verdict on the new hosts, and Shirley Ballas has finally offered hers - and it looks like she'll need to spend some time bonding with Josh.

Emma, Johannes and Josh all had chemistry tests with the judging panel, including Anton DuBeke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, but Shirley missed out on these as she was in Australia with her son.

"I'm not that familiar with Josh," she tells The Mirror, adding, "But I met him this week and I've since looked at some of his work.. I think it's going to be fresh and interesting."

Shirley did have plenty of praise for Emma and Johannes, and is glad the BBC have decided to give the show's format a big shake-up.

"I think it's absolutely brilliant what the BBC have done," she says, continuing, "Of course, I've worked with Emma on and she's an absolute star. She's very calm, so beautiful, she keeps everything together."

"And there's only one Johannes in the whole world. I mean, who wouldn't want him somewhere in that trio?"

Delving a little more into the impact of her missing the chemistry test with the new presenters, and the instant spark it's said Emma, Johannes and Josh all had with each other, Shirley says she heard the tests with the other judges "went well."

She continues, "Apparently, the chemistry between Josh and Emma was off the charts. So I believe that was the case."

She adds, "They had chemistry beyond chemistry, so I do trust the process and the producers. They took their time, they didn't rush this decision. I know people are judging before they've even seen the results, but for me, this is a dream team."

TV presenter Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe and professional dancer Johannes Radebe have been announced as the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing.

"It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Strictly - I’ve cheered and danced along from my sofa for years - so to be stepping into the Strictly ballroom is something I can’t quite comprehend," Emma shared.

She continued, "It’s impossible to fill the shoes that Tess and Claudia have left behind - two wonderful, iconic women who have been the beating heart of Strictly for so long. I can only hope that we are able to help to steer the ship as beautifully as they have, into this new chapter. I can’t wait to spend my weekends with Josh and Jojo, the incredible dancers and the judges. Fingers crossed for a 10 from them!”

Josh, who appeared on the show's Christmas special in 2024, added that he was "giddy with excitement, honoured and a little overawed to be given the chance to step into the biggest shoes in television".

While Strictly pro of eight years Johannes told fans, "To be returning to Strictly Come Dancing in this new role is beyond anything I ever imagined."

But, it is Emma who us at woman&home are most excited to see grace the ballroom following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman in December. From her tough live TV interviews to the fact she's a "huge fan" of the BBC dance competition, these are the reasons we're ready to predict she's going to score a perfect 10 in the role.

She’s a big fan of the show - and even wanted to be a contestant

There are multiple instances of Emma declaring her love for Strictly over the years, with her showing off a bit of ‘sofa dancing’ while guest hosting This Morning in 2025 to her even declaring that she’d love to have been a contestant on the show.

While interviewing former Strictly professionals James Jordan, Brendan Cole, Pasha Kovalev, and Ian Waite ahead of their 2025 Return of the Legends tour, Emma couldn’t help but show off some of her own moves on This Morning.

She told them, "I love Strictly, and I'm a massive fan” before showcasing her ‘sofa moves’ and adding, “I sit there and watch it and do this on the sofa while watching them dance, and my toes are pointing."

In the past, Emma has also said, “If I had time, I would do it in a heartbeat. Like I absolutely love it.”

She already understands what the contestants go through

In past interviews and podcast appearances, Emma has often brought up the shows she would - and wouldn't - take part in.

As she's previously expressed, Strictly is a big yes, whereas she's shared she'd never take part in the likes of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Speaking to The Mirror in the past, her words about watching the contestants go through their journeys on the show prove she already has the feel for the show.

She said, "I think Bill [Bailey] and Jamie [Laing], their kind of start where you go with no ability and are still there at the end, that’s a really nice little adventure."

She’s worked with the judges before

In 2021, Emma Willis hosted the first series of ITV’s reality show, Cooking with the Stars. And who took part in that first series?

Strictly judge Shirley Ballas.

Again, in press for the show, per The Sun, when Emma was asked if Shirley could tempt her to take part in Strictly in the future, Emma reportedly said she didn’t need any convincing and she would do it in a heartbeat if her schedule allowed it.

She knows how to take over a big show

One of the big blockers that might dissuade some people from taking over the reins of an established primetime show is the inevitable comparisons that might come with it.

Stepping into Tess and Claudia’s shoes could seem daunting to some, but Emma knows all too well how to honour the legacy of a show’s past while putting her own stamp on it - lest we forget Big Brother.

For many, Big Brother was always Davina McCall’s show, the two forever linked. Davina fronted the show from when it first started in 2000, all the way up to 2010, when it stopped airing on Channel 4 and moved to Channel 5.

After Brian Dowling presented for 2 years, Emma eventually stepped into the role of host and won legions of fans for her fresh take, and some notable interviews.

When it was announced Emma was to take over Big Brother, she said in a statement, "To live inside of your favourite show… I watched it for a decade before I even worked on it, I was a genuine true super fan... it never felt like work, and it was the first time I was ever comfortable in my role".

With her being a vocal fan of Strictly too, it's clear to see why she's going to be such a natural fit.

She's not about looking in the past - bringing a fresh feel to the show

Interestingly, Emma's perspective on why she was happy not to be involved in the new era of Big Brother when it moved to ITV in 2022 offers a glimpse at why she'd be such a confident fit for Strictly.

She told Radio Times, "I think with every new era of Big Brother, I think there should be a new host.

"I loved my time on the show, and I very much kind of said goodbye to it back then because we thought it was over. I don't tend to go back. I like to move forward".

Emma knows how to comfortably make a show look ahead, and not stay rooted in its past.

She’s handled tough situations on live TV

Back when Emma’s first name was suggested as a frontrunner, sources reportedly told The Sun that Emma’s background in live TV was one of the main reasons.

The source told the outlet, “Emma is seen as the Tess of the duo. Her background in live - and occasionally tense - broadcasting situations means she can handle anything that is thrown at her.”

A prime example of Emma stepping up when the occasion called for it was with her much-anticipated interview with controversial Celebrity Big Brother contestant Roxanne Pallet in 2018.

Roxanne had exaggerated claims that fellow CBB contestant Ryan Thomas had punched her in the ribs - something that had caused a firestorm in the UK media. Emma’s interview with Roxanne was praised at the time, with Emma’s tough stance and no-nonsense questioning making for gripping television.

She can ask close friends about how it feels to take part

Many of Emma's close friends have connections to Strictly, giving her something of an edge to understand what it's really like, and how it all comes together.

Emma and AJ Odudu are close friends and have worked together on the likes of The Voice UK Kids. AJ was a strong contender in series 19 of the dance show, ultimately having to withdraw because of an injury.

Through her marriage to Busted star Matt Willis, Emma is likely friends with the myriad McBusted stars who have also competed, including Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd.

Best of all, though? Emma is also friends with Claudia Winkleman, with Claudia telling OK! (per the Express) in the past how important their friendship is to her. Who better to help prep than the person who left after 15 years?

The Voice had a convenient schedule change

Previously, Emma had cited her work hosting ITV’s The Voice as the only reason she never took part as a contestant.

She told The Sun, “I've been asked [to take part] in the past but it's always the time of year when we're filming The Voice and The Circle.

"The Circle is not happening this year, but let's hope The Voice is - otherwise I will be doing Strictly."

With The Circle cancelled, conveniently, The Voice is set to air its 14th series this summer - a significant schedule change from its usual autumn/winter slot.

And it seems, she and her new co-stars already have the seal of approval from fans and their celebrity peers - including former host Tess Daly, who said "Can’t wait to tune in... The ultimate trio."

While Zoe Ball, who last week confessed she was "grieving" not getting the role, shared, "CREW. congrats Emma Jojo and Josh. You're gonna ROCK IT."

Amanda Holden added, "Incredible! Genius casting!! I cannot wait. Very much deserved ."

Gorka Marquez is the latest Strictly Come Dancing professional to be leaving the show this year.

The Spanish dancer - who is in a relationship with former contestant and actress Gemma Atkinson - joins the likes of Karen Hauer and Nadiya Bychkova who will also not be returning for the 2026 series. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have also quit.

Writing online, Gorka said his commitments with the Spanish version of the show in 2025 meant he had come to the conclusion to go.

He said, "I’ve decided that now is the time to hang up my dance shoes and say goodbye to Strictly Come Dancing.

"I will always be incredibly grateful to Strictly and the BBC for everything. Being part of the show has been so much more than just a professional opportunity—over the past 10 years, it allowed me to build a career from my passion, find love, start a family, and make lifelong friends. For that, I will forever be thankful."

In a long statement, the BBC gave their "since thanks" to Gorka, who they praised for having "passion, charisma and exceptional choreography".

They said, "As well as being part of our Strictly family, it’s been heartwarming to see him start his own family during his time with us and that journey reflects the same warmth, commitment and character he has always brought to the show.

"We are incredibly grateful for his dedication to the series over the years and are so proud to see him shining in his judging role on Bailando con las Estrellas in Spain. We wish him continued success and happiness in everything that’s to come.

"As well as being part of our Strictly family, it’s been heartwarming to see him start his own family during his time with us and that journey reflects the same warmth, commitment and character he has always brought to the show."

Gorka will continue to appear on the Strictly Pro Tour, which begins this week, and will continue to be part of the "Strictly family", he said.

Fellow professional Carlos Gu, who won the series last year with Karen Carney, commented, "I wish nothing but the best papasito! Loved our time but I’m sure there’s more to come," while Neil Jones added, "My Brother we started this journey together and I can’t wait to continue the fun here on the tour with you."

There’s certainly going to be a lot of new faces on Strictly this autumn!

Shirley Ballas had big dance shoes to fill when she took on the late Len Goodman's role as Strictly Come Dancing's Head Judge in 2017 and she's been taken into the viewers and cast's hearts. She's expected to return for the upcoming season (who else can't wait for the new presenter announcements?) but ahead of re-taking her chair at the glittering judges table there's something else on the horizon.

It turns out Shirley has been keeping a secret and she has bagged herself a new ballroom role across the pond. Taking to Instagram she confirmed she's part of the judging panel for Dancing With The Stars' new spin-off.

"The news finally is out, we're finding The Next Pro…and a dream of mine to judge alongside my son @markballas has finally come true," she wrote. "I cannot wait for you all to witness what's in store."

She prepared us for a "show like you've never seen before" and said the "ballroom doesn't know what's coming". The Next Pro starts on 13th July on ABC and will be available to watch the next day on Hulu too. As the name suggests, it will chart the difficult process of selecting a new professional dancer for the 2026 series of DWTS.

Twelve dancers are vying for the coveted position and it'll be hosted by Robert Irwin, last season's champion. This is major news for Shirley and who knows if it could be the first stepping stone in being part of DWTS on a more permanent basis in the future?

She's already given masterclasses and commentated on DWTS before but this time her judging will be centre stage. The late Len Goodman and former Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli used to judge on both sides of the Atlantic so we know it's possible to do DTWS and Strictly simultaneously.

For now, Shirley Ballas seems to just be very excited about her New Pro role and teaming up with her son. Some reports have alleged that filming might have wrapped for the spin-off already, though it's not clear if this is the case.

Both DWTS and Strictly typically start in the autumn so all the judges, professionals and cast members would no doubt need to be confirmed by then.

The BBC confirmed the judging panel for Strictly Come Dancing's 2025 season in June, so we could be only a few months away from hearing if we're correct in thinking Shirley, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke will be back.

After the departure of long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, many fans will likely breathe a sigh of relief if they learn their favourite judges are coming back.

Since joining Strictly things haven't always been easy for Shirley, who opened up to Saga magazine in December about how she almost departed the show in 2018. It was her son Mark who thankfully persuaded her to stay - and she's so "grateful" he did.

"I didn't know if I wanted the job back because of the intrusion, people selling stories, the constant criticism," she explained. "I defy anyone not to let it get to them."

"[Mark] said, 'Imagine the platform you'll have. This gives you a reach for causes that you're passionate about'. And he was right. I'm truly grateful for it," Shirley declared.

Ever since Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced their departure from Strictly last October, the show hasn't left the headlines.

In the midst of intense speculation over who could be replacing the long-running hosts, it was revealed that professional dancers Gorka Márquez, Nadiya Bychkova, Luba Mushtuk and Michelle Tsiakkas would not be returning for the next series.

As the shockwaves continued, Karen Hauer, the show's longest-serving professional, has also confirmed her exit from the show, bringing the total of departing professionals to five.

There have also been reports that Janette Manrara and Fleur East had been 'axed' from Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two. However, the BBC has denied these claims, stating, "It is factually incorrect to claim that either has been 'axed'. Plans for Strictly Come Dancing 2026 will be confirmed in due course."

While Janette and Fleur's departure has been addressed, theories have taken hold online that the professional dancers leaving the show can't continue to appear on it because they don't have a large enough social media presence, and because of their age.

Looking at the number of TikTok followers the dancers have, Dianne Buswell has close to one million, while Nadiya Bychkova, who is leaving, has 19,600 followers.

Similarly, Karen Hauer, now departing, has just shy of 10,000 followers on the platform, while newcomer Alexis Warr has 190,600. The same pattern can be seen across all departing professionals - they have fewer social media followers than those staying on the show.

According to The Sun, who refer to the departures as a "brutal cull," an insider from the series says, "Last year there were more than a billion views of Strictly clips on social media platforms and that was up 40 per cent on 2024."

“The wind is in their sails in that respect and they’d be crazy not to want to maximise that impact by bringing in people with that strong presence on social media - and losing those that don’t."

"It can’t just be down to the profile of the stars who come on the show. Now the pros contribute to that success as well."

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims the professionals have been edged out of Strictly due to 'ageism.'

They say an insider tells them, "The BBC wants younger women so they sacked the one they believed to be too old. They should have more respect for older people."

"This is becoming an unfortunate pattern with the BBC. Look what they did to Arlene Phillips . They sacked her [from the judging panel and replaced her with a younger judge, Alesha Dixon, and that all went wrong."

However, the BBC Has not issued any statements relating to how the exiting professionals were selected, and Karen Hauer's departure statement alludes to the decision to leave being her own.

Sarah James, executive producer on the show, paid tribute to Karen through a social media post.

"We would like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to Karen Hauer for her incredible contribution to Strictly Come Dancing over the last 14 years," she wrote.

Sarah added, "As the longest-serving female professional dancer in the history of the show, Karen has given so much of herself and her time to the programme, and we are extremely grateful for the passion, creativity and dedication she has brought to every single performance."

"She has captivated audiences with her talent, warmth and genuine love of dance and has been responsible for some of the most iconic partnerships and joyous routines the Strictly dance floor has ever seen."

Sarah concluded, "We thank her for all these memorable moments and for her incredible work ethic. Her professionalism and sense of humour shine through everything she achieves and we can’t wait to see where her next chapter takes her."

Karen Hauer is leaving Strictly Come Dancing after 14 years serving as a professional dancer on the iconic show.

The longest-serving female professional dancer on the series, Venezuelan-born Karen delivered news of her exit through a video posted on Instagram.

The decision to step away from Strictly could not have been easy for the star, and she's shared the "stress and anxiety" that comes with making such a huge decision - Karen also reveals her dogs have helped her work though challenging feelings about leaving.

"After 14 years on Strictly Come Dancing, I've decided this is the right time for me to close this chapter and take on new projects in other areas that I'm passionate about," Karen said in her video statement.

She continues, "Strictly completely changed my life, not only as a performer and a teacher, but as a human being."

"I've had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people, and brilliant celebrity partners, who have become close friends and people I admire so much," she adds.

Karen thanks her "amazing fans" who have supported her since moving to UK - her arrival signalled a time she had "no idea what I was getting myself into."

"I'm going to miss everyone who makes this show possible," the dancer shares, extending thanks to every member of the team that "takes care of us."

Thanking her fellow dancers, making special nods to Bruce Forsyth and Len Goodman, Karen also has touching words for "the brilliant Tess and Claudia."

"Maybe now we can finally be ladies who lunch in the autumn," she says, addressing the former hosts, who announced their own Strictly exit last October.

Karen concludes her statement with, "This isn't a goodbye, it's simply 'see you later.' I will never stop dancing, and Strictly will always be in my heart."

The day after her announcement, Karen attended the LitPet Sunday Dog Social event. Speaking of her decision to leave Strictly, she says, "It's been a terribly stressful time and my four dogs have really helped me get through it."

Adding that the difficult career move was "part of life," she explains her dogs also feel it when she's stressed.

Along with her seven-year-old rescue dog Marley, the dancer spent an afternoon exploring therapies aimed at reducing anxiety and helping both pets and their owners feel calm.

With a Reiki healing session with Marley on offer at the event, Karen says, "I think I need this more than my dog. My emotions and stresses have really affected them recently, but they have really helped me regulate my feelings."

She explains, "I feel that when I hold my dogs, my stress and anxiety levels come down."

As well as being supported by her pets, Karen has no shortage of encouragement from friends.

Neil Jones wrote on Instagram, "You are the OG and I’m going to miss laughing with you the whole time we dance together in group numbers, and at the back of the bus."

Alexis Warr added, "You are a legend and an icon! I love you so much Karen and it was a privilege to be able to have a season with you."

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special returns once again for 2025, with six famous faces pairing up to battle it out for the Glitterball.

This year, presenter Scarlett Moffatt, All Saints popstar Melanie Blatt, Gladiators star Jodie ‘Fury’ Ounsley, EastEnders actor Nicholas Bailey, comedian Babatunde Aléshé, and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden will take part.

Fans won’t want to miss this year’s special for another reason. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will host Strictly for their very last time, after the pair announced they were both leaving the show earlier in the year.

Actor, podcaster and West End star Amber Davies has just become Strictly Come Dancing 2025’s latest contestant. The exciting news comes just days after Dani Dyer was forced to pull out of the competition after fracturing her ankle before reaching the first of the live shows.

Amber will be dancing with Dani’s Strictly partner, Nikita Kuzmin, who has been part of the pro line-up since 2021. Speaking about joining the series at this stage, Amber described it as the "craziest 24 hours" of her life and expressed her wish to make Dani "proud" dancing in her stead.

"I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true," Amber declared. "I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud."

Amber has just begun rehearsing with Nikita and the pair will kick off their Strictly journey together with a Waltz on 27th September. For those who aren’t quite sure where they recognise Amber Davies from, the star has had quite the illustrious and varied career so far.

She first rose to fame when she and Kem Cetinay won ITV’s Love Island in 2017 and she’s gone on to act in a number of high-profile projects. Amber has had lead roles in theatre productions, including 9 to 5: The Musical, Pretty Woman and The Great Gatsby.

She’s also been recently announced as Elle Woods in the new Legally Blonde musical tour set to start in 2026, making Amber one very busy woman. As well as appearing on stage, she’s presenting the documentary Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5 which saw her fly to Nashville where she met and interviewed Dolly Parton.

Amber also chats with stars from the world of theatre on her podcast, Call to Stage, and she’s no stranger to a TV competition format thanks to her stint on the sixteenth series of Dancing on Ice. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how she gets on now she’s swapping the stage and ice rink for the Strictly ballroom.

Her announcement as a new cast member quickly followed the news that Dani Dyer had to withdraw from the show. Dani was set to start the live shows with the famously fast-faced Quickstep, but after she suffered a fall in rehearsals and "landed funny" an MRI revealed that she had fractured her ankle.

She explained that doctors had said she’s "not allowed to dance" with her injury, adding, "To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering the couples on."

No doubt Dani will be excitedly following Nikita and Amber’s progress on Strictly as she recovers and she might get another shot at being on the BBC show in another future series. This could supposedly be on the cards, with the Daily Mail reporting that BBC bosses confirmed in a statement that the door is left open for her, saying they "hope to welcome her back" in the future.

Meanwhile, Nikita expressed his hope for this in his statement following Dani’s exit, writing, “It breaks my heart knowing how excited you were to do your absolute best on the show! Hopefully we can pick up next year”.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 27th September at 6:55pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

After a successful launch show on Saturday that saw the celebrities paired with their partners, and plenty of hip shaking from the professionals during group dances, Strictly has been dealt its first blow.

In the wake of the positive news that Dianne Buswell is to make history as the show's first pregnant professional, and the excitement of her baby bump debut during the launch, comes the sad news that Dani Dyer won't even make the first live show of the season.

After suffering a fractured ankle during rehearsals, the 29-year-old Love Island and Celebrity MasterChef star has shared her devastation at not being able to move forward in the competition. In a statement posted to Instagram, Dani revealed the accident happened during a fall in training where she's "landed funny."

After seeing some swelling in the affected foot, an MRI then revealed an ankle fracture. "Apparently, doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable, and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance, so I’ve had to pull out of the show,” the statement continued.

Concluding her statement, Dani wrote, "To say I'm heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on."

Dianne Buswell, who is paired with Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis for the show, commented, "I’m so sorry Dani and Nikita. We will miss you so much."

Judge Shirley Ballas also commented among the many other well-wishers, to add, "I’m so so sorry. But health is most important. Get well soon Angel."

Sharing a video to her Instagram stories, Dani held back tears as she shared that she'd be taking time away from social media to process her feelings in the aftermath of no longer being able to compete.

"I've not felt like this in such a long time," she told her followers, adding that she was "having the best time ever" before withdrawing from Strictly.

"It's just a very, very annoying and devastating thing that I'm going through right now," she continued, saying that was just so "gutted" about the situation.

On ITV's Lorraine on Wednesday September 24th, the presenter and co-star Ross King offered their best wishes to Dani, and pondered whether she'll be replaced on the show - there has been no official word on this yet.

Ross said, "When you see something like that and it's a little thing, and suddenly you're out of the show. And she was so looking forward to it. At the launch show, we were sat beside each other and she was smiling away."

Lorraine asked, "Do you know what though, she can come back next year. I'm sure they would have her," adding, "We don't know what's going to happen yet with Nikita, whether he'll get someone else. That'll be a decision for them upstairs."

Dianne Buswell has made history by being Strictly's first pregnant professional, with her baby bump making a very special debut during the latest season's launch show on Saturday. Dianne is paired with Neighbours legend, Stefan Dennis for the series.

It was just a week before the latest series of Strictly began that Dianne and her partner, Joe Sugg, announced their news. During an adorable post shared to Instagram, the couple also revealed their baby is a boy, who will be making an arrival in February 2026.

Shortly afterwards, Joe vlogged about their announcement to give fans more insight into the pair's feelings on the announcement. Appearing in the video with her partner, Dianne responded to the multitude of people who'd immediately jumped to the conclusion she wouldn't be able to appear in the series simply because she's pregnant.

"I am definitely doing Strictly guys," she began, quickly continuing, "what I wanted to achieve here is to actually show that the woman's body is absolutely incredible." By this, Dianne suggests that the pregnancy will definitely not be a reason for her to pull out of the show.

Sharing how she's been supported by the crew to continue competing in the series, Dianne added, "Strictly knew a while ago, and they've been so supportive of my decision, and obviously looking after me as well."

"I'm very well looked after on Strictly and loved, very, very loved," she finished. Joe, clearly very supportive of his partner also suggested Dianne was in a very fortunate position to be able to continue in a job she loves, where others might not be as able.

Comparing her to professional athletes, he said, "If you're a female in sports, when can you find the time to stop doing what it is you love to start trying for a family? Is it possible to stop and go back to it afterwards?"

Sharing how "very fortunate" the pair are, he added that Dianne can still dance until the end of her pregnancy, and will be able to return to Strictly next year once she's given birth - something not everyone in such a demanding profession can do.

While clearly delighted to be on his way to becoming a father, Joe did reveal he was a little "panicky".

"I've been asking the midwife one hundred questions," he mused, adding that he'd even wondered whether he should turn Dianne over in her sleep if he found she'd rolled onto her stomach, as he wasn't sure whether she should be lying this way.

Despite being a "panicky dad," overall, the pair are "just so excited" to meet their "healthy little boy" in the new year.

Dianne likely expected an outpouring of concern over whether she should be continuing strenuous exercise in pregnancy, and was prepared to field questions about her decision.

According to the NHS, the more active you are during pregnancy, the easier it can be to adapt to your changing shape, and it can also help you to cope with labour.

They assert that exercise is not dangerous for your baby, advisingthat evidence suggests that active women are less likely to experience problems in later pregnancy and during labour.

We conducted a poll to ask woman&home readers about their exercise levels during pregnancy, and found an even split between those who had continued to exercise during pregnancy, and those who wanted a chance to put their feet up.

A small percentage of people had also appeared in shows and performances like Dianne - myself included.

During my first pregnancy, I worked in a busy job where I was always on my feet, until a week before my due date. I also danced in a show while seven months pregnant, attending rehearsals after work in the run-up to the performances.

I felt very empowered to perform while pregnant, and grateful my body was able to continue to dance and move as it always had. With regular monitoring and taking reasonable precautions, Dianne is absolutely correct to marvel at the power of the female body and what it can achieve.

A week ahead of the new series of Strictly launching, professional dancer Dianne Buswell has shared the exciting news that she's expecting a baby with her boyfriend of seven years, Joe Sugg.

In an adorable video posted to Instagram, the couple revealed the news of their impending new arrival, a baby boy, while Elton John's Tiny Dancer played – the duo met on the the dancing show in 2018 when they were paired together for the competition.

Not to become one of the Strictly dropouts the series has seen over the years, Dianne will make history as the show's first ever pregnant professional dancer to compete when series 23 kicks off on 20 September 2025.

The Instagram video shows the sweet couple setting up an easel and concentrating very hard on drawing a picture together. When their artwork is revealed, the canvas depicts the pair as stick people, one complete with Dianne's flaming hair, with a stick child between them.

The post had the simple caption, "Our little baby boy, we cannot wait to meet you."

Dianne, 36, and Joe, 34, were flooded with well wishes from friends and family when they delivered their special news on 14 September.

Strictly host Claudia Winkleman made the promise all pregnant women want to hear, by saying, "SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU – amazing news. I’ll get ANY snack you need."

Fellow Strictly professional dancer, Amy Dowden, added, "Still screaming, dancing and celebrating! So so happy for you both! Magical. Auntie Ames can’t wait."

It's fantastic that Dianne feels well enough, and supported enough to continue in the competition with her growing bump. We spoke to an expert, who agrees that Diane should be just as able to compete in the show as before she became pregnant.

Mrs Pradnya Pisal is a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician with over 21 years of clinical experience.

She tells us, "In general whatever level of activity we’ve been doing in the non-pregnant state we can continue late into our pregnancy. So in Dianne’s case as a professional dancer, she will be fine to continue dancing as she was before she became pregnant."

Explaining the intricacies of just how great vigorous exercise is for the pregnant body if a woman is able, Mrs Pisal says, "Engaging in activities like dancing, particularly during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy can lead to better growth of the intermediate villi which is good for placental vasculature."

"This is in fact good for the baby, and the good effects of this will last well into the third trimester."

When asked if there were any special precautions Dianne should be taking, Mrs Pisal advised what would normally be expected for somebody expecting a baby.

"Normal precautions should be considered," she tells us, adding, "so ensuring Dianne is well hydrated during rehearsals is important as hot studios will dehydrate you."

The consultant also shared the advice she would give to Dianne, saying, "Be mindful to pick up on any cues your body is telling you – listen to it if it’s saying to stop or have a break as you don’t want to push yourself too hard."

"What I would advise anyone doing intense exercise is to perhaps have a couple of additional scans during the second trimester, as it’s important to know the pregnancy is not deemed to be at risk, and this will assess placental circulation and foetal growth."

Thomas Skinner's future as a contestant on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing 2025, has been left uncertain after he abruptly walked out of a press event ahead of the show's launch.

The latest series of the show is due to start on September 20, and the celebrities taking part are currently in the process of speaking to the nation's press ahead of appearing on the series.

However, while being interviewed by journalists alongside fellow 2025 contestant Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank, Thomas left the Elstree Studio press event under mysterious circumstances.

There has been no official reason given relating to why he left the studio, and Thomas himself is yet to address what happened at the press event.

Should he leave this year's line up of contestants, he won't be the only one in the show's history to drop out. We take a look at all of the Strictly drop outs over the years.

Strictly drop-outs: Who has left the line-up over the years?

Jimmy Tarbuck

Back in 2006, comedian Jimmy Tarbuck was part of the series 4 line up. Partnered with Flavia Cacace, Jimmy ended his time on the show early, after doctors advised him to rest. ad to exit the show in 2006 after doctors advised him to rest.

In a statement issued at the time, Jimmy said, "I'm absolutely devastated that I can no longer take part in Strictly Come Dancing. I really wanted to dance on the show this week but I have to take the advice of the doctors who have told me I need to rest."

"I would like to thank my wonderful partner Flavia who has taught me so much and been patient in trying to turn this old carthorse into a proper dancer! I will really miss training with her."

John Sargeant

In 2008, journalist John Sargeant removed himself from the show, believing it was the right thing to do under the circumstances.

Definitely not a born dancer, John was paired with Kristina Rihanoff and the pair were heavily criticised by the judges, consistently finding themselves at the bottom of the leader board.

However, viewers appeared to find it hilarious to keep him on the series, and he left to prevent a more deserving winner taking home the trophy.

During a press conference discussing his departure, John said, "As time went on, it became increasingly obvious I might have won this competition. That is a frightening thought for me and for millions of people around the country."

"It would have been a very bitter sweet victory."

Kelly Brook

Presenter and model Kelly Brook stepped away from Strictly during series 5, when her father Kenneth passed away in 2007. Hoping to stay in the competition, she initially persevered with rehearsals, but found herself struggling.

A statement from her management said, "Kelly Brook has decided to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing to be with her family following the death of her father this week."

"Kelly would like to wish the remaining contestants the best of luck, thank everyone for their support and to add that she has thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the series."

Jade Johnson

In 2009, Great Britain long jumper Jade Johnson pulled out of Strictly when she injured her knee during rehearsals. Missing a week of the live shows, Jade planned to return to the show, but was ultimately forced to pull out altogether.

The athlete blames the ligament injury for her failure to compete at the 2012 Olympics three years later. "Strictly has cost me my place in the Olympics," she told The Mirror.

Jade continued, "I thought the show injury had healed and I was ready to compete. Sadly it flared up just before the trials and made it impossible to get through them. London 2012 was my dream."

It’s that time of year again! We’re finally starting to get the first announcements for the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 line-up and before the month is up we should know everyone who’s about to put their dancing skills to the test.

It’s always an exciting time as fans look forward to the months of performances to come, the stars going on their Strictly "journey" and some well-earned ‘FAB-U-LOUS-es’ from judge Craig Revel Horwood.

However, you’ll have to be patient for a little bit longer as Strictly Come Dancing is very much an autumn-winter show and here’s all we know about when it could return and who’s in the line-up so far…

When does Strictly Come Dancing 2025 start?

We don’t know an exact date yet but thanks to how long the show’s been running for, we can make an educated guess about when Strictly Come Dancing 2025 will start - and that’s mid-September. Since season 11 the series has always premiered (aside from 2020) in September and the launch shows typically happen in the 2nd or 3rd week of the month.

We know it always launches on a Saturday, so Strictly 2025 will most likely end up starting on either 20th or 27th September. This has yet to be confirmed by the BBC, but until they do announce a start date, we can at least rest safe in the knowledge that Strictly will be back on our screens sometime next month.

Strictly 2025 Line-Up

So far the only person we know is in the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 line-up is Olympian and Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (AKA Nitro). He was revealed as the first cast member on 11th August and he’ll be familiar to fans already, as Harry took part in the 2024 Christmas special partnered with Nancy Xu.

It was clearly a brilliant experience for him as he shared, "After the Christmas Special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice! I’m so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I’m ready to give it all I’ve got. I’ll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dance floor. Let’s hope I’m as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track."

As well as appearing on BBC’s Gladiators, Harry is a multi gold medal winning sprinter for Team GB and has competed in two Olympics. He is a three-time European Champion and a two-time Commonwealth Champion.

When will we know the dance pairings?

We will only find out who is partnering with who when the pre-recorded Strictly Come Dancing 2025 launch show airs in September. Then, the following week, the live shows will start with those pairings giving performances of new dances.

It’s only from this episode that eliminations come into play too. Because it’s pre-recorded, the line-up will know in advance and have been working together on their first dances, though viewers will have to wait and see.

Who are the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 judges and hosts?

It's business as usual when it comes to the Strictly judging panel as Head Judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke are all coming back for the 2025 series. So are long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, so we can all look forward to some hilarious quips and glamorous outfits from those two when the show starts next month.

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Robin Windsor has died aged 44 and tributes have been shared by dance partners including Susanna Reid and Alison Hammond.

Robin Windsor was a professional dancer on the popular show from 2010-2013 and in a statement Sisco Entertainment confirmed his passing to BBC News, sharing that he will be “deeply missed” by those who had the “privilege of knowing him”. 

"His extraordinary ability to express emotion through movement captivated audiences, leaving them spellbound with every step. Beyond his impeccable dancing, Robin's vibrant spirit lit up the room, infusing rehearsals and performances with infectious energy and warmth,” they declared. His laughter was contagious, his kindness boundless. His friendship was a gift cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Robin, you will be deeply missed."

There have since been outpourings of tributes from members of the Strictly Come Dancing family, including several of his former dance partners. During his time on the show, Robin was partnered with Patsy Kensit, Lisa Riley, Anita Dobson and Deborah Meaden. He also danced with TV presenters Alison Hammond and Susanna Reid in the 2015 Christmas special and 2011 Strictly Children in Need respectively.

Both have now shared their devastation at the loss of Robin and Susanna was visibly emotional as she prepared to share this tragic news live on air on Good Morning Britain on 20th February.

“I’m afraid I’ve got some very sad news to break about a much-beloved member of the Strictly Come Dancing family,” Susanna began. “Because on their Facebook page today - I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to read this Ed, because I danced with him. It’s about Robin Windsor”

Susanna passed the notes over to her co-host Ed Balls and she later spoke about when she’d danced with Robin on Strictly For Children In Need in 2011.

“Robin was larger than life and I fell in love with him and fell in love with dancing when I danced with him back then. He was an absolutely remarkable dancer. Incredibly strong, so creative, he was just so enthusiastic about dancing. I just adored him, he was the most incredible personality, there was something very special about him,” she continued. “I’m sorry if you’re waking up to that [news] this morning and are as devastated as we are.”

Alison Hammond has since echoed Susanna’s admiration for Robin Windsor in a statement that was read out by her This Morning colleagues. 

"I've just heard the very sad news about Robin's passing. I'm completely heartbroken. He was one of the nicest people to work with and so much fun to be around. I had the pleasure of dancing with him for the Strictly Christmas special and they were such special times. My thoughts are with his family and friends,” she said.

Meanwhile, actor Lisa Riley, who came 5th with Robin on season 10 of Strictly, took to Instagram to share several pictures of her and Robin together. In her caption she spoke of his “electric energy” and described her heart as “very broken”.

 “My Bestie, My Robin, My Angel…….now our forever Angel, who is loved, will always be loved, forever in my heart……my very broken heart, I love you, shine your beautiful, electric energy from heaven. SHINE IN PEACE,” she shared.

Strictly hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly have also paid tribute to Robin, with Claudia describing his passing as “heartbreaking”. 

"Your infectious personality, energy and talent will be deeply missed by all who knew you," Tess said. "My heart goes out to your loved ones at this time."

Many of Robin Windsor’s other former Strictly colleagues and the show’s judges have also shared tributes following the announcement of his passing.

BBC radio host and soon-to-be Strictly contestant, Nikita Kanda, has hinted that she believes the iconic Strictly curse may not be such a bad thing after all. 

Speaking to The Sun, the morning host of BBC Radio’s Asian Network, expressed surprising optimism about the so-called curse. When asked if it could instead be a blessing Nikita replied “Hopefully, yeah!” 

We’ve seen the Strictly curse strike multiple times over the years and only recently did Strictly’s John Whaite reveal he fell victim to the curse after falling in love with dance partner Johannes while in a committed relationship. In this case, however, it's difficult to see the curse as a blessing as John revealed his ‘sense of loss’ after a painful goodbye with Johannes.

The Strictly curse, known for its heartbreaking reputation, is the phenomenon where a dance partnership on the show goes beyond the boundary of friendship. The curse is most commonly known for its breaking up of pre-existing relationships, from either one or both of the dancers.

Perhaps the reason for Nikita’s positive outlook on a potential strictly romance is because of her availability. The 28-year-old radio DJ went on to discuss her long-term singleness, something that she chalks down to her daily 4.30am radio show routine. “I get up at half past four in the morning so I’m not going to have time for any of that right now.”

When asked more specifically about her dating life living in London, she admitted it’s difficult when trying to be a career woman to date at the same time. Nikita ended the conversation of her dating life on a positive note saying, “I am happily single and happy to stay that way.”

The presenter went on to express a keener interest in dancing than finding love on the show. “But that’s not in my mindset because I am so focused on enjoying the show and I want to get stuck into it and learn the dances. I am fully single. I’m just focused on work now - my breakfast show and Strictly.” 

The interview, her first exclusive since the 2023 Strictly contestant lineup was confirmed, also revealed her excitement for the sexier styles of dance, “I think any of the Latin dances, I am really excited to get stuck in and learn those. They are a bit spicy and sexy - I can’t wait to move a little hip.” 

Commenting on the announcement last month, she said that her being on the show was a dream come true. “I’m still pinching myself. I don’t think it will properly sink in until I step onto the dancefloor. I can’t wait to get glammed up and get out there. Throw the glitter on me!"

This season's Strictly Come Dancing is set to air on the 23rd of September, and we'll definitely be keeping our eyes out for any sign of the curse, blessing or not!

In excerpts from his autobiography, Dancing On Eggshells, John Whaite revealed the 'sense of loss' he felt following the end of Strictly Come Dancing.

John Whaite, one of The Great British Bake Off's most successful contestants, is set to release an autobiography, titled, Dancing On Eggshells. The star made headlines as one of the celebrity participants in the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 lineup and part of the first-ever same-sex couple in Strictly Come Dancing with his professional dance partner Johannes Radebe. 

In recent months the star has opened up about his relationship with his professional dance partner and revealed that he fell victim to the Strictly curse as he 'fell in love' with Johannes while in a relationship. 

In his new book, he has detailed his relationship with his dance partner further as he opened up about their emotional final goodbye - and the jealousy he felt towards the sweat shimmering on his skin...

In extracts obtained by The Sun, John wrote, "After that final dance, I hung up my clothes for the last time. I felt a sense of loss." He added, "Not because the competition was over, I was knackered and ready for a break, but because I wouldn’t get to see Johannes every single day."

He reminisced on their emotional farewell and how he 'didn't want to let go'. John said, "I watched him as he sat on the window sill of the dressing room drinking a glass of champagne, still sparkling in his bright white show dance outfit. I was jealous of the sweat beads as they shimmered on his beautiful skin. I wanted to be close to him . . . We hugged goodbye, I didn’t want to let go."

In another excerpt, the Strictly and Bake Off star said that Johannes had seen the 'Strictly curse' happen a number of times as professionals and celebrities fell for each other on the dancefloor. "Johannes knew that [the curse] could happen. He had seen it a thousand times with his dance companions over the years," John wrote. "When you are physically pressed against another man for ten hours a day, things move emotionally . . .  He was being cautious. Strictly has a magical way of revealing the truth."

The star was also critical of his fellow co-stars in the dancing competition and condemned them for "reeling off the same bull***t spiel week after week". He reportedly even called the show "Sickly Come Dancing". However, he still spoke fondly about the experience and wrote very romantically that the competition would be "etched on his heart until its last beat."

Despite his confessions of affection for his dance partner, the baker is still with his long-term partner and fiancé, Paul Atkins, whom he has been with for 15 years. He and his partner took a short break after John's appearance in the dance competition but managed to work things out after they took some time apart.

When does Strictly Come Dancing 2023 start?

Officially the BBC has yet to announce when Strictly Come Dancing will begin and has continued to tell fans to expect the show to begin in autumn. However, Tess Daly let the cat out of the bag after she posted a video of the contestants in the show with the caption, "3 weeks today eek..can't wait♥️🪩 @bbcstrictly"

The post suggests that the show will most likely launch on Saturday, September 16. Meaning Strictly Come Dancing 2023 will officially start on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

For Strictly Come Dancing 2023, the hosts of the show will be Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman who have hosted since season 9 of the show in 2011. The professional dancers are all returning from last year, meaning Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola are all return to the dance floor this September.

When will Strictly Come Dancing 2023 finish?

As we suspect that the official start date of Strictly will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023, the end date is likely to be 13 weeks in total including on Saturday, December 16, 2023. This is based on the typical format of the show which lasts 14 weeks in total - if including the launch show.

The Great British Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing star, John Whaite, has revealed that he 'fell in love' with his co-star Johannes Radebe and fell victim to the Strictly curse while on the show.

John Whaite is one of The Great British Bake Off's most successful contestants after he won the show in 2012 at age 23. The star then made headlines as one of the celebrity participants in the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 lineup and part of the first-ever same-sex couple in Strictly Come Dancing with his professional dance partner Johannes Radebe. 

Fans were obsessed with the chemistry between John and Johannes and despite the fact that John had a long-term partner, many thought that the dance duo's chemistry could translate off-stage and they could be falling victim to the infamous Strictly curse.

It has now been revealed that while the pair may not have acted on their desires, John had fallen in love with Johannes while they worked together on the show.

In an interview with The Times, John Whaite said, "I fell in love with him. I can’t speak for him – because I’m not allowed to, legally – but it felt like there was love there."

"We had so much in common. We had such similar stories growing up – the homophobia, the bullying, coming out, coming to terms with our sexuality – as any queer kid would. And there was just a beautiful symmetry about it, because it was on the other side of the earth. He’s black and I’m white, yet we still have that lived experience. It shows how we’re human," said John."So yes, I fell in love with Johannes. I still love Johannes. Of course I do."

John revealed that he told all of this to Paul Atkins, his fiancé and partner of 15 years. "All the way through, me and Paul discussed it," he said. "Paul of all people deserved to understand how I was feeling."

"You go through life being told that you’ll fall in love with someone, you’ll get married, you’ll have children and that’s it. But love can’t just be directed to one person. The heart can easily split into two or three or four. And those loves aren’t mutually exclusive," he said. 

Following his time on Strictly (where John and Johannes were runners-up to Rose Ayling -Ellis and Giovanni Pernice) John explained that he and Paul spent some time apart. Paul moved back to his parent's home and John, "sat on the patio, drinking bottle after bottle of sauvignon blanc."

However, Paul and John worked it out eventually. "I look at Paul and what he’s put up with over the years and how he’s nurtured me and stood by me, and who would throw that away? I couldn’t."

Speaking about Johannes again he said, "I love him to bits and I worship the ground he walks on, but I have to be mindful that there’s more than my own desires to consider here and if it would be tricky for Paul for me to be in contact with Johannes, then it’s a sacrifice that I have to make."

"And also for Johannes. He needs to move on with his life too. I hope I always am in contact with him. We shared something really important and that will never be taken away from us," he said.

In an interview with Reign with Josh Smith podcast back in January 2022 soon after Strictly concluded, Johannes confessed to being in love with John.

"In my moments of doubt, John just stood by me and waited for me to figure it all out. And I can't tell you that patience, I'm in love with the man. And I know he's a married man - soon to be - but let me tell you something, people come into your life and you just don't know how you've been doing without them this entire time," he said. "And that has been John for me, a really, really lovely lad. I can't tell you, he's the nicest person you’re ever gonna meet in your whole entire life."

Although a fixed start date from the BBC has yet to be confirmed, the end of the summer signals the beginning of Strictly Come Dancing and we cannot wait! The first celebrities in the line-up have been announced, with many more cast members still to be confirmed and revealed.

Strictly Come Dancing line-up 2023 

Amanda Abbington

Amanda Abbington was the very first celebrity confirmed to be taking part this year. You may recognise this actress from the likes of  Lockwood & Co, Cuffs, Safe, and BBC’s Sherlock, where she played Mary Morstan.

Amanda, who was previously in a relationship with actor Martin Freeman, was announced as the first contestant on The One Show. She said, "I’m thrilled to have been asked to do Strictly. I’m actually really shy and self-conscious so this will be a great opportunity for me to overcome those things!"

"Plus I get to learn to dance, which I am incredibly excited about. I'm really looking forward to the training too, I'm quite competitive as my family and friends will tell you. I can't wait to start!"

Angela Rippon

Presenter and former newsreader Angela Rippon was the second celebrity confirmed for the upcoming 2023 series. At 78, Angela has the privilege of being the oldest contestant to take part in the competition across its past 20 seasons.

After the news broke, Angela said in a statement, "Having been a fan of Strictly since day one, and as a former presenter of Come Dancing, this will be quite an adventure for me."

"A scary one, considering I’m about to be 79.  But I’m really looking forward to the challenge, and perhaps being able to learn to dance the Argentinian Tango."

Leyton Williams

The third celebrity announced was West End actor Leyton Williams, known for roles in shows such as Bad Education and the stage musical, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

He said, “Absolutely buzzing to confirm that I will be taking part in THE most iconic dance competition in the UK! It’s time to bring it to the Ballroom. So excited to learn new skills from the best. Bring on the sequins… ALL the sequins!”

The actor has also said that he would be happy to be partnered up with a male dancer so that he can be lifted up during performances.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy

The fourth celebrity confirmed to be taking part is journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy. After joining the news team in 1998, Krishnan is the second longest-serving Channel 4 lead anchor (second only to Jon Snow).

While he’s best known for putting celebrities through their paces with his tough questioning, he’s ready to challenge himself on the dancefloor.

He said, "I’m surprised, delighted and slightly confused to find myself taking part in Strictly on the basis of ‘you only live once!’ and I can’t wait to start learning to dance, but I am slightly worried about my general decrepitude."

Eddie Kadi

Eddie Kadi is a multi-award winning stand-up comedian and radio presenter. Recognised as one of the most globally celebrated stand up personalities, he was the first British black comedian to headline the O2 Arena in London.

Eddie said, "WOW. Anyone who knows me, understands that music and dance is so important and central to who I am. I’m so unbelievably proud and honoured that Strictly and the BBC have asked me to join the 2023 Team. I promise you, I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. This is going to be a VIBE."

Angela Scanlon

Angela Scanlon is an Irish Television presenter for the BBC and RTÉ. The presenter also hosts the interior design show Your Home Made Perfect on BBC Two and the Saturday night chat show, Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One.

The news that Angela would be joining was revealed on Monday, August 7, and the presenter revealed that she was scared but excited about taking part. 

"I’m terrified, I’m excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh-coloured sports bras?" Angela joked. "Well - there’s only one way to find out, right!? Now I’m panicking a bit… but also secretly thrilled about the prospect of all that glitter. Let’s go!" 

Zara McDermott

Zara McDermott was the seventh celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Zara gained popularity by appearing on reality TV shows such as Love Island and Made In Chelsea. She is now best known for her broadcasting work on BBC films such as, Revenge Porn, Uncovering Rape Culture, Disordered Eating, and Gaia: A Death on Dancing Ledge. 

Zara McDermott said that she is excited to be joining the cast this year, "I am so excited to be joining the world of Strictly! I grew up watching it every year with my nan and she was the biggest Strictly fan. We would dance around the house and I have such fond memories of that time in my life. I even remember the first-ever series, and being mesmerised by all the beautiful dresses! I can’t wait to throw myself into this experience and start training. It’s going to be incredible."

The news was revealed on Monday, August 7, on Going Home with Vick and Jordan on BBC Radio 1.

Adam Thomas

Actor and presenter Adam Thomas is the eighth celebrity contestant confirmed to appear on the show. Adam is best known for playing Adam Barton in the ITV soap Emmerdale. More recently he is known for reprising his role as Donte Charles in BBC One’s Waterloo Road and appearing in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here in 2016.

"I am so excited to be joining the cast of this years' Strictly Come Dancing. I've been such a big fan of the show for years, I can't believe I'm actually doing it! I can't dance to save my life but I'm buzzing to learn and have a good laugh with my pro. Get me on that dance floor...I can't wait!" said Adam. 

The news was revealed on Tuesday August 8, on The Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Fleur East, James & Matt.

Nikita Kanda

Radio host and presenter Nikita Kanda was the ninth celebrity contestant confirmed for the show. Nikita is best known for being the current host of the BBC Asian Network’s Breakfast Show and has previously presented the Saturday afternoon show.

Nikita commented on this announcement saying, "I can’t believe I’m going to be on Strictly. This is a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself. I don’t think it will properly sink in until I step onto the dancefloor. I can’t wait to get glammed up and get out there. Throw the glitter on me!"

Ellie Leach

Ellie Leach was the tenth celebrity contestant confirmed on the show. Ellie is best known for portraying Faye Windass for 12 years on Coronation Street, and has been nominated for multiple British Soap Awards and Inside Soap Awards for her role, hard hitting storylines included being pregnant at 13. 

Ellie Leach said, "It still doesn’t feel real that I’m going to be doing Strictly!! It’s always been a dream of mine so I guess dreams really do come true!!!!"

The news was revealed this morning on Wednesday August 9 on BBC Breakfast.

Jody Cundy CBE

Jody Cundy CBE was the eleventh celebrity contestant confirmed for the show. Jody is a decorated World and Paralympic Champion, he has represented Great Britain at seven Summer Paralympics winning eight Gold, one Silver and three Bronze medals across swimming and cycling events.

After competing at Tokyo 2021, Jody became the first man in Paralympics GB history to win medals at seven different games and after competing at Tokyo 2021, Jody became the first man in Paralympics GB history to win medals at seven different games.

"Excited to be welcomed into the Strictly family and throw myself head first into the world of ballroom dancing. So far away from what I’m used to, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and pushing myself way out of my comfort zone, especially as I’m always last onto the dance floor” Can’t wait to get stuck in, bring on the glitter and sequins!" said Jody about this upcoming challenge.

Bobby Brazier

Bobby Brazier was the twelfth celebrity contestant confirmed. Bobby is a 20-year-old British Model, and Actor, best known for his role as Freddie Slater in UK Soap Opera, EastEnders and for modelling for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week. Bobby is the son of the late Big Brother star Jade Goody who sadly passed in 2009.

Bobby Brazier spoke about his excitement when it comes to joining the show, "I’m so excited to be part of the Strictly lineup, I can’t wait to start training like a professional dancer and adding a few moves to my locker. I'm looking forward to performing in front of everyone, it's going to be so much fun!"

The news was revealed on Wednesday, August 9, on BBC Breakfast.

Nigel Harman

Nigel Harman was the thirteenth celebrity contestant to be confirmed. Nigel is an actor who is best known for his work on BBC’s Casualty as Max Cristie and on EastEnders playing Dennis Rickman.

In anticipation of his upcoming role, Nigel said, "I'm amazed, excited, and terrified to be doing Strictly. As an armchair fan of the show I have watched  in awe as people have twirled and gyrated across the screen. And now it's my turn.....gulp!"

The news was revealed on Thursday, August 10, on ITV’s Lorraine.

Annabel Croft

Annabel Croft was the fourteenth celebrity contestant confirmed to appear on the show. Annabel is a former British Number One tennis player who at 15 years old was the youngest British player to compete at Wimbledon for 95 years.

Annabel continues to play an integral role in the coverage of Wimbledon each year and her TV and radio career includes presenting, commentating, and working as a highly respected pundit.

Speaking about her excitement about the show, Annabel said, "I have always loved watching Strictly and can’t quite believe I’m going to be part of this magical show – swapping tennis balls for glitter balls and looking forward to finding some joyfulness in the process."

The news was revealed on Thursday, August 10, on Virgin Radio’s Breakfast show.

Les Dennis

Les Dennis was the fifteenth and final celebrity contestant confirmed to appear on the show. Les Dennis is a TV Personality, actor and entertainer and best known for his work in Extras, Brookside, Death in Paradise and Midsomer Murders and two years in Coronation Street.  

Les said, "I’m thrilled to be doing this iconic wonderful show as I approach my 70th birthday! In my career I’ve always gone for challenges outside my comfort zone and this is the ultimate one! Can’t wait."

The news was revealed on Friday, August 11, on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

The question of who left Strictly Come Dancing this week has no doubt been on the minds of fans since the celebrity contestants took on yet another week of the competition. 

After another week of dancing, the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestants have tried their best, but once again someone has been eliminated. 

In the first week of the competition, nobody was eliminated as the scores were carried over to week two. In the second week, Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington were eliminated and were the first contestants to be axed from the show. In the third week, fans said goodbye to Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice. While the fourth week saw Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychklova being eliminated. In week seven, Ellie Simmonds and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin became the sixth couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing after a tense dance-off against Molly Rainford and her dance partner Carlos Gu.

With three votes for Molly and Carlos, it meant they had won the majority vote and would be staying in the competition. Despite this obvious win, Head Judge Shirley Ballas, who always has the last say, felt implored to state that it was one of the best dance-offs that she's ever seen - but that Molly and Carlos just clinched it.

Ellie Simmonds and  Nikita Kuzmin performed their Charleston to Too Darn Hot from Kiss Me Kate. Then Molly and her dance partner Carlos performed their Foxtrot to You Make Me Happy by My Sun and My Stars.

On her Strictly stint, Ellie told host Tess Daly, "I’ve literally had the time of my life.  It’s been the most incredible experience - life-changing really."  

"I want to thank Nikita ever so much," she continued. "I’m going to miss him – he’s changed my life and confidence. And all of you guys - the pros.  Every single one of you who’ve been part of this Strictly. Behind closed doors, the costume designers, I’ve literally loved waking up every single day and dancing, I’m going to dance forever."

An emotional Nikita admitted he wished they had more time on the show together, but that he's so happy his journey on this season was with Ellie. "She has taught me so so much, so much empathy, just so much, I’ve learnt so much in these seven weeks," he said. "I really wanted to go with you to Blackpool, I think we should go there for the rides? I love you Els, I just want to tell you every single person in this room loves you."

The Strictly 2022 favorites seem to be Hamza Yassin and Helen Skelton as it stands, but as we all know - there's plenty of time for things to change!

The remaining ten couples will take to the dancefloor next when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday November 12 at 7pm, with the results show on Sunday November 13 at 7.15pm on BBC One.

Robbie Williams' Strictly performance gained plenty of attention from the show's fans. However, the singer's appearance and rendition of his classic, She's the One, fell flat for some. 

Ordinarily, it's the Strictly 2022 contestants who are judged but during this week's episode - viewers had a lot to say about the former boyband member as well. Robbie sang his hit tune in front of a studio audience, accompanying professional dancers as they twirled around the dancefloor.

The singer was dressed in a bright pink two-piece suit, which proved a bit of a flop with the fashion police. "Robbie Williams looks like he forgot his P.E kit and had to borrow a suit from Harry Styles," tweeted one viewer. Another added, "I used to fancy Robbie Williams, you know. And here he is, in a bright pink suit and dodgy half mullet and I once again find myself questioning my taste in men."

The outfit and haircut drew so much ire that one fan even said, "Robbie Williams may want to sack his stylist and hairdresser while he’s at it."

Robbie's outfit choice was also described as a copy of Strictly 2022 judge Shirley Ballas' look from the previous show. "Nawt Robbie Williams borrowing Shirley's outfit from last night," joked a Twitter user.

For some, the focus wasn't on his outfit of choice that irked them most, but his performance - which some weren't too happy with. "Robbie Williams murdering of one of his own songs," tweeted a shocked viewer.

Despite criticism from some viewers, Robbie maintains a successful international career and regularly sells out arena tours. He also recently performed at the AFL Grand Final match, performing just under 20 minutes of hits. His outfit of choice for that performance, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on September 24, 2022, appears to be the very same he donned on Strictly.

His performance took place ahead of the first contestant to be booted from Strictly Come Dancing 2022, Kaye Adams, was revealed. Kaye, a renowned broadcaster who's known for her illustrious career including hosting on shows like Loose Women and more recently as a podcaster with her hit show How To Be 60.

We watched in awe as Rose Ayling-Ellis tangoed her way to success last year, winning the Strictly Come Dancing glitterball, with professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

Now, as the new series and Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestants have been confirmed, the actress has been pictured with Giovanni's family in Sicily - adding fuel to the fire that the Strictly curse has hit again.

The photos, which show Rose, who split with her long-term partner, Sam, just weeks ago, cuddling up to Giovanni and his sister at their home in Italy, have fuelled rumors that the pair are now dating, but it looks as though it could actually just be down to a brand new show, exciting!

The pictures of the former Eastenders actress, which the Sun published, show Rose cuddling up to her dance partner, who is pictured next to his sister Angela and Anton Du Beke.

The visit from Rose, to meet Giovanni's sister, comes as the Strictly dancer is said to be filming a travel show with Anton.

The former dance partners haven't been shy about revealing their appreciation for each other. When Rose and Giovanni won Strictly last year Rose took to social media to thank Giovanni - calling him the 'most wonderful human being ever' in a gushing post. 

In the Instagram post, Rose said, "He came into my world and brought the best out of me. I cannot thank him enough for all the work and effort to make me become the dancer that I am today." 

"Winning the Glitterball is the best gift I could ever give to Giovanni because he really deserves it. I am beyond proud of us. I never thought I would leave Strictly with a best friend for life, thank you Gio."

Rose and Giovanna have spent a lot of time together since the show ended, posting pictures of each meet-up on their Instagram accounts and turning up at awards shows together.

The Strictly partners won the show after scoring 40, a perfect 10 from all four judges, after performing a quickstep show dance called The Rose, to the Song, Love is an Open Door, from Frozen.

Rose was the first deaf dancer on the show, with fans dubbing her an ‘inspiration’ for making people ‘feel less alone’, while the actress has been tipped for huge success, just months after she left her role on soap Eastenders. 

The news comes after Rose split with her boyfriend of 7 years, Sam - she is now thought to be living alone, after moving out of their shared house.

Will Mellor

English actor Will Mellor was confirmed as the first of the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestants. Best known for his role on Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, the 46-year-old revealed that he's 'chuffed' to be taking on the enormous 'challenge' after years of watching the glitzy show at home. He went on to credit his beloved mother, Shirley, as his main motivation for signing up. 

"It’s my mum’s favorite show so she’s had it really tough over the last few years so I thought we’ll do this," he said.

The Mancunian TV star, who has also appeared on Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, tragically lost his father, Bill, to cancer in April 2020. Left with a renewed mindset by the grief, he is now determined to "grab life" and "do things that frighten me a little bit." 

Kym Marsh

Kym Marsh was confirmed as the second Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestant. Best known for her role as Michelle Connor on Coronation Street, the 46-year-old revealed that she considered joining the dance competition for 'years' but was unable to sign a contract because the timings never worked out.

"I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from watching at home in my pyjamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!" she gushed. 

While Kym has never been a professional dancer, she's no stranger to the world of live gigs. The talented vocalist was previously a member of the band Hear'Say, which was created in 2001 on the ITV reality show, Popstars. The group regularly included simple choreography in their performances before their highly-publicized breakup in 2002. 

Richie Anderson

Richie Anderson was the third celebrity to join Strictly Come Dancing 2022's contestants, and he's already bursting with excitement. Best known as a presenter on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, this talented broadcaster called the upcoming challenge a 'dream come true'. 

"I cannot wait to get in those sparkles and sequins and shimmy across the most famous dance floor in the world!" he said shortly after the news was confirmed. 

"Strictly is the ultimate feel-good show, as soon as I hear that iconic theme tune it’s just pure escapism. I’m going to have to cancel my legendary Strictly launch night kitchen party that I throw every year, I’m sure my friends and family will understand. It’s also a massive honor to be part of an all-male dance partnership, it’s so important we have that inclusion on such a huge show.”

Kaye Adams

Kaye Adams was the fourth celebrity to join the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 lineup. Best known as a Loose Women panelist, the ITV presenter shared the following hilarious message after the news was confirmed. “I said I wanted to make the last year of my fifties memorable and I can’t think of a better way of doing it than showing the world my two left feet. Pray for me!”

Jayde Adams

Comedian and presenter Jayde Adams announced that she'd be joining Strictly on BBC Radio 5 Live. Jayde said of joining the series, "Since I watched the first series in 2004, I feel like every step I’ve taken in my career over the last 11 years was to be on Strictly. I cannot begin to express the emotions I am feeling, this means so much to me and my family."

Ellie Simmonds

Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds OBE was the sixth Strictly sign up announced, it was revealed that she'll be joining the lineup on Sunday August 7.

Ellie, who is a gold medal-winning Paralympic swimmer, told the BBC, "Oh my gosh!! I’m literally bursting with excitement!! It's been soooo hard keeping this secret as I've wanted to tell everyone I'm going on Strictly Come Dancing!!"

"I'm a tad nervous too, well more than a tad… I'm absolutely petrified! To be asked to be part of the Strictly family is just so exciting and I cannot wait, it's going to so much fun. I'm counting down the minutes until it starts; learning to dance, meeting my partner and everyone else involved in the show."

Tyler West

Tyler West was the seventh celebrity announced to be joining the Strictly lineup. Tyler is a KISS FM radio host and DJ and it was announced that he was joining the competition on Monday, August 8, 2022. 

Tyler West said in a statement to the BBC, "I am SO gassed to be joining the Strictly family! As I started writing this I already got cramp. It’s going to be one crazy incredible journey which will no doubt be SO far outside my comfort zone. It’s a show that means so much to me and my family and I can’t wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor… with a side of sequins."

Matt Goss

On Monday, August 8, it was announced that singer-songwriter Matt Goss would be the eighth celebrity contestant joining the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing. 

Matt Goss is a singer-songwriter, musician, and actor who is best known as the frontman of BROS, whose debut 1988 album Push went platinum seven times and remained on the charts for 54 weeks.

“I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down,” said Matt Goss about this upcoming challenge.

Ellie Taylor

On August 9, English stand-up comedian Ellie Taylor was announced as the ninth celebrity to join Strictly Come Dancing 2022. Best known for her role as Flo 'Sassy' Collins in Netflix's comedy series, Ted Lasso, and as co-host on The Great Pottery Throwdown, the 38-year-old is more than ready for the glitz and glamor of the upcoming challenge. 

“Well, cover me in fake tan and roll me in sequins!" she said. "I've watched the show for years so to be able to take to the dance floor is a dream come true, for both me and mum who is a Strictly super fan! At the moment I'm focusing on the excitement and glitter and choosing to ignore the fact that I have the dancing ability of a newly born giraffe. Bring it on!"

Molly Rainford

Singer and actress Molly Rainford was the tenth celebrity contestant confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2022. Molly burst onto TV screens at the age of eleven in 2012, when she became the youngest ever finalist of Britain’s Got Talent. Choosing to continue her studies after BGT, Simon Cowell and Sony Music honored Molly with their first-ever drama school scholarship at the internationally renowned Sylvia Young Theatre School. Since graduating, Molly is currently starring in the lead role as an intergalactic pop superstar in the hit CBBC show Nova Jones.

On the huge honor, 21-year-old Molly said, “I'm so excited to be part of Strictly Come Dancing, I've watched it for years and can't wait to meet the pros and the others taking part! I can't wait to learn the moves and get dancing!”

Tony Adams MBE

Tony Adams MBE is a former English football player and manager. The retired center-back’s football career spanned over 22 years, playing for both Arsenal and England. Having captained both, he's regarded as one of Arsenal’s greatest ever players and one of the all-time greats of English football. 

He won 66 caps for England, appeared at four major tournaments and had 10 major trophy wins whilst is still the only player in English football history to captain a team to three top-flight titles over three different decades. As captain of England, he famously led the national team to the Euro 96 final.

Father of six Tony, who's happily married to wife Poppy, went into coaching and management after he hung up his football boots. His latest venture, SIX MHS, delivers Mental Health and Addictions services to non-sportspeople and non-sports organizations. Tony is also patron of four other additional charities, NACOA, Forward Trust, Saving Faces, and School Home Support and has started the charity, 6 Addiction, for people that can’t afford private mental health services.

Of his exciting news, Tony said, “To say I’m excited is an understatement - the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes. Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t wait to meet my partner - god help her - and start the dancing.”

Fleur East

Fleur East was the twelfth of the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestants confirmed by the BBC. Fleur found fame after coming runner-up in season 11 of The X Factor. Since then, the much-loved star has been a regular face in the world of music and broadcasting. 

As a singer, she has released two albums, with European chart hit single Sax reaching number three on the UK singles chart. After appearing on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in 2018 she became the host of the Hits Radio Breakfast show which she hosts every weekday. She has also appeared as a presenter on the last three series of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and a host of ITV gameshow The Void.

Discussing her upcoming gig, she said, “I’m equally nervous and thrilled to be part of this year’s Strictly lineup. I’m excited to learn new skills and I want to soak up every moment of this magical experience."

Although she adds what an honor it is to appear on the show she admitted it's bittersweet as she used to watch the show with her father, who sadly passed away. "Unfortunately my Dad is no longer with us but I know he will be watching over the ballroom in spirit," she said. "I’m doing this to make him and my family proud and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on!"

Hamza Yassin

Hamza Yassin is a wildlife cameraman and presenter, best known as one of the presenters of BBC’s Animal Park and as a guest presenter on BBC’s Countryfile where he shares his vast knowledge and camera skills. Those familiar with children's TV CBeebies might recognize him as Ranger Hamza, presenting the hit live-action show Let’s Go For A Walk and the new series Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest, which is hitting screens later this month.

Hamza moved to the Scottish Highlands when he was younger to follow his dream of filming Scottish wildlife and becoming a wildlife cameraman and has lived there ever since. Recently, Hamza fronted Channel 4 documentary Scotland: My Life in the Wild and Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness, in which he guided celebrity companions on journeys through western and eastern Scotland and the Highlands.  In his spare time, Hamza competes in the Highland Games and enjoys riding the country roads on his motorbike. 

On his exciting news, Hamza told the BBC, “I am absolutely over the moon to be joining Strictly 2022.  Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a cool show.  I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’ll actually be there dancing live in front of the British public. My dance skills are currently at the level of ‘1970’s disco vibe’ but I’m ready to work hard and will be shaking it every time I get the chance – shake it ‘til you make it!”

James Bye

James Bye is an English actor best known for his role as Martin Fowler in EastEnders. James also worked on The Great Train Robbery and the Hooligan Factory. 

Talking about his excitement about joining the series, James said, “I’m not known for my shimmy or my twinkle toes - in fact my kids regularly laugh at my dad dancing but it’s an honor to be asked and I’m going to give it my best shot. There are some huge dance shoes to fill and it’s truly exciting to follow in the footsteps of some amazing EastEnders talent. I’d love to do everyone proud.”

Helen Skelton

Speaking about her excitement about joining the Strictly cast Helen said, “I’m really excited to get stuck into a fun adventure. My family and friends have always loved the show and can’t wait for me to get started.”

Strictly 2022 hasn't even started and yet there are already rumors of feuds, drama, and awkward replacements. One such example is allegations of rocky waters after Anton Du Beke took over from veteran judge Bruno Tonioli.

Don't even bother thinking about the potential drama between the Strictly 2022 contestants, because reports of drama behind the judging table are providing far more juice this year. However, fan-favorite Anton is quick to put any nay-sayers in their place, putting rumors of a feud between him and Bruno Tonioli to bed.

The Strictly judges 2022 lineup will see Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse all reprise their seats on the panel, as Anton takes Bruno's space on the bill.

Previously Bruno spoke in an interview with The Sun, on hearing Anton was to take his spot in the 2021 series. The former judge said, "good for him, he needs the money." Fans of the star and colleagues, including Anton, know that this was all said in good humor. 

Speaking to The Sun in a recent interview Anton said, “I think he was just mucking around. I can imagine him saying it. I think it looked more punchy than it was. So I didn’t get the hump over it at all. It actually made me laugh.”

On top of dismissing any suggestions of unrest between the pair, Anton said that he knew he was potentially on borrowed time when he took the position. Furthermore, he would have relinquished his role should Bruno have returned as a judge.

“I was only stepping in. If Bruno had wanted to come back, the bosses couldn’t say to him, ‘We don’t want you’," he said. "If it had been the other way around and that had happened to me, I would have been really disappointed."

In the hypothetical situation that the role had been taken away, Anton said he wouldn't have turned his back on the series. Instead, he'd return to being a professional dancer again, adding, "I can’t think of anything better than being on Strictly.”

Despite all being well between he and Bruno, the Strictly judge admitted, “I haven’t spoken to him. I haven’t spoken to any of the judges," explaining of his return to the panel, “It was all down to circumstance really." 

"The situation with flying still isn’t ideal - we all know how many flights are being canceled - and Bruno said to the BBC, ‘Listen, I can’t do both shows. Thank you very much and good luck.'"

Fans of the hit show will be delighted to hear that after nine long months, the wait is over and Strictly Come Dancing 2022 will hit screens this September.

The ramp-up to Strictly 2022 has well and truly begun and fans are keen as mustard to find out everything they can about getting tickets to the BBC show. More importantly, which contestants are in the line-up this season and is Adam Thomas actually appearing?

In some ways, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 final feels like a million years ago, and in others - it seems like only yesterday. Die-hard fans don't really care when the last season ended and are, understandably, more concerned about when Strictly 2022 kicks off!

When does Strictly Come Dancing start?

Although the precise premiere date has yet to be confirmed, the Strictly 2022 producers have revealed that they're going to kick off filming on September 7, 2022,  but that it will be a prerecorded show. 

This means that it's likely the show will be broadcast the following weekend, the weekend of September 10 - but watch this space for any updates and woman&home will let you know!

How to get tickets to be in the Strictly 2022 audience

Just like previous years, the show is operating a random draw and you're able to apply for tickets for the Launch Show at any time until 10pm on Sunday, August 7. 

Show bosses confirmed on the BBC, "Registration is now open to be part of the exciting Launch Show, which is recording in advance of this year's live shows on Wednesday 7 September."

As well as that, Registration is now open to be part of the audience as the Strictly pros record a special number celebrating the BBC's 100th anniversary, in advance of the main series on Wednesday, August 24. The bosses said of the prerecord, "There may well be a surprise or two as well, with special guests and fun tributes to some of your favorite BBC shows."

As if competition for tickets isn't tough enough already, Strictly 2022 will see the return of a studio audience - which means people will be extra eager!

Owing to the anticipated demand, the show's bosses are restricting the number of tickets that you are eligible for, to a maximum of one pair of tickets and you can only apply if you're the intended ticket holder. 

Tickets for the main series will be allocated in another random draw, that you'll need to enter again. Excitingly for those lucky enough to attend the launch show - that doesn't mean you can't apply for the live shows too!

Who are the judges on Strictly 2022?

The BBC have been dropping breadcrumbs of information about the Strictly 2022 judges and back in May 2022, they finally revealed who'll be judging this year.

Popping back behind the panel for another season are the head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse. Former Strictly professional dancer Anton Du Beke will be returning as well, after standing in for Bruno Tolioni, who stepped down from Strictly 2021 owing to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

When will the line-up of Strictly 2022 be announced?

It's unclear when this year's celebrity line-up will be confirmed but the rumor mill has, of course, been doing overtime. One potential contestant is Adam Thomas who appeared to confirm he'd appear on the show. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said, "Bring it all on I love a bit of glitz and glam. I was going to say something then, but it might get blown out of context… I just want to experience the Strictly curse!"

It has, however, been confirmed that this season will see four new professional dancers. The new professionals are  Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu, Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas, European Cup Winner Vito Coppola, and British National Champion Lauren Oakley.

Shirley Ballas attended the TRIC Awards 2022 at Grosvenor House on July 6, 2022, and spoke about potential changes fans can look forward to on Strictly Come Dancing. 

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 was an incredible success and fans loved seeing the program change its format by including its first-ever deaf contestant, and first-ever male same-sex pairing. These changes to the format were warmly welcomed by fans, and head judge Shirley has now hinted that fans can look forward to even more exciting changes for the next season of the dance competition. 

Speaking to the Metro.co.uk at the TRIC Awards 2022 (Television and Radio Industries Club) Shirley reflected on the change in the Strictly judges 2022 shake-up  as it was announced that once again, Bruno Tonioli would not be returning to the panel and Anton DuBeke would be staying on as a judge, just like in the 2021 show.

"Of course I miss Bruno, I love him to bits, but Anton and I go back so far," said Shirley as she then revealed it was her 'dream' to dance with Anton. "My dream is to dance with him one day on the show. That’s just on my bucket list. Love him to bits, he’ll do a grand job," said the judge.

When asked if there was anyone else she might like to dance with Shirley replied, "somebody from the royal family would be rather nice!" Reportedly, Duchess Camilla is in talks to hold a live episode of Strictly Come Dancing at Buckingham Palace. This suggests that some of the royals are fans of the show, and a royal appearance may not be as farfetched as some may think!

At the same awards ceremony, Shirley spoke to the Mirror and was asked about the possibility of the show including a gender-fluid dance couple. Shirley seemed receptive to the idea and replied, "everything is possible. [Executive producer] Sarah James is always looking outside the box, and if it fits... I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of things you won’t be expecting."

There are also other rumors that a beloved Eurovision 'national hero' is tipped for a Strictly appearance. Sam Ryder, the UK entry who came in second in the Eurovision song contest and became a superstar in the UK, has already been pegged to join the cast of the competition. 

Nothing has yet been confirmed and at present fans are just hoping to see their favorite stars compete on the beloved show. But Strictly fans will have to wait until next month when the lineup starts being announced in August 2022.

Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden has finally married her fiancé Ben Jones, after postponing the wedding twice because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The British professional dancer tied the knot with her beloved boyfriend at the weekend in a 'stunning' ceremony in South Wales, it has been revealed. 

Amy, who narrowly missed out on the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 final after placing eighth with partner Tom Fletcher, had originally planned to marry Ben in July 2020, but was forced to delay the nuptials because of the UK's COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings. 

In an exclusive interview with Hello!, the 31-year-old confirmed that the couple finally exchanged their vows on Saturday after a four-year-long engagement. 

"It was a stunning venue. I always knew I wanted to get married in Wales," she said. "The day was a celebration of Ben and me." 

Amy and Ben's wedding took place at a luxurious venue in Wales’ idyllic Gower Peninsula, about 60 miles west of the ballroom dancer's hometown of Caerphilly. It's understood that several of her Strictly Come Dancing friends attended the romantic event, with Australian Strictly pro Dianne Buswell serving as bridesmaid. The happy update comes just two weeks after Amy shared a carousel of photos from her Hen Party, which was organized by her twin sister Becky, with her 315k Instagram followers. 

Amy and Ben, who is also a professional dancer, currently live together in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The couple has reportedly known each other for over a decade, with some sources claiming that they first met at a dance championship in 2011. 

In 2016, the talented duo founded the Art in Motion dance academy in Herefordshire, where they offer a range of classes in everything from children's ballroom dancing to formation Latin dance. They had been engaged since New Year's Eve 2017 when Ben asked for Amy's hand in marriage at a party attended by her loved ones. 

Karen Hauer has shared incredible details of her stunning wedding day to her husband Jordan Wyn-Jones, revealing she wore her "fairytale dress" and why the pair surprised the world with news of their nuptials. 

The Strictly Come Dancing pro, who was formerly married to ex co-star Kevin Clifton, shared the news that she and Jordan had tied the knot with her fans 

Opening up on the big day, Karen admitted that she thinks the announcement that she and Jordan took the next step would leave some fans shocked, having kept the plans under wraps. 

"I think people will be surprised by the news. Having recently been on tour with Strictly, I couldn't talk about the wedding out loud…it felt precious to have our little secret in our back pocket," she told Hello! magazine. 

Karen was joined by her Strictly Come Dancing colleagues and close friends Janette Manrara and Luba Mushtuk on her wedding day, as she and Jordan said their "I dos" at Chewton Glen, a luxury retreat in the New Forest. 

Speaking to the publication, Karen swooned over her the story of how she and Jordan became an item, recalling how they met on social media when she was in Australia last year. 

"Jordan followed me on Instagram and I followed back – we would like and comment on each other's posts," Karen explained. 

"Never did I think that I would find the love of my life on the other side of the world and that we would meet in such a unique way. But I wouldn't change it for the world."

Karen was bombarded with special messages of congratulations from fans and Strictly loved ones when she confirmed the wonderful news on social media.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer has opened up about her “fairytale” wedding to Jordan Wyn-Jones as she revealed she's tied the knot with her long-term partner.

There might still be many months yet to go before Strictly Come Dancing 2021 winner Rose Ayling-Ellis is succeeded as champion by another celebrity, but ahead of the next series there’s been plenty of Strictly news to grip fans. This includes everything from the reports that Strictly’s Bruno Tonioli has quit the show for good as a judge to Giovanni Pernice and Rose’s lovely reaction to their Strictly BAFTA win. 

Now popular professional dancer Karen Hauer has revealed that wedding bells have officially rung for her and Jordan Wyn-Jones. The couple married in a gorgeous ceremony just after the Platinum Jubilee weekend and according to the Strictly star it was a true “fairytale” wedding. 

Opening up to Hello!, she reflected on how much it meant to them that all their family and friends could come together to celebrate at the stunning hotel and spa, Chewton Glen, on the edge of the New Forest.

"It feels like a fairytale day," Karen said. “It felt so special to bring our families and friends together. I haven't seen my family for the last two years so it’s really touching to bring them here and be able to share this amazing moment with them."

Karen Hauer and her new husband Jordan Wyn Jones first went Instagram-official with their romance last year. Since then the pro dancer has shared several sweet snaps of the pair enjoying time together as their love story blossomed even further. 

Their wedding is understood to have been attended by two of Karen’s fellow Strictly professionals, Janette Manrara (who took over as sister show Strictly: It Takes Two host after Zoe Ball’s Strictly exit) and Luba Mushtuk. 

The former couple separated in 2018 and Karen had also been married once before to Matthew Hauer whom she met on the US show, So You Think You Can Dance? 

Matthew Hauer and Karen’s marriage is said to have ended in 2013 and she’s gone on to find love with Jordan. And it seems that for their wedding the choice of venue is a place very close to their hearts.

Taking to Instagram back in April, Karen tagged Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa as the location for a beautiful picture taken of her and Jordan relaxing in fluffy robes with their adorable dog. 

Captioning it simply, “Happy place ♥️”, fans were quick to comment their delight at this romantic snapshot.

“You're glowing K 🔥🔥 so good seeing you happy 💗🥂”, one wrote admiringly.

Another person agreed, writing, “This is a very happy picture. You deserve your little rest ❤️”.

Now Karen Hauer and Jordan Wyn-Jones have married in the same tranquil location surrounded by their nearest and dearest. And with Karen confirmed as part of the professional line-up for Strictly Come Dancing 2022, who knows whether fans might get a glimpse of Jordan cheering her on in the audience when the show makes its triumphant return this autumn. 

Bruno Tonioli 'has quit' Strictly Come Dancing after 18 years, according to a new report. 

The Italian choreographer is rumored to be leaving the popular BBC dance competition 'for good', marking the end of nearly two decades on its dazzling panel. 

Fears for Bruno's fate on the glitzy show started to brew last year, when the 66-year-old decided against joining the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 judges to prioritize a spot on Dancing With The Stars in the US. His place was filled by Anton Du Beke, a British ballroom dancer who gained expertise credentials after mentoring the show's celebrity contestants for 18 seasons. 

News of another Strictly Come Dancing judges' shakeup hit the headlines again last October after it was confirmed that Bruno would be returning to the UK for the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour in January 2022. 

However, it appears that the Latin dancer's reunion with Strictly judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, and Shirley Ballas might have been more of a last hurray to his British fanbase than a UK homecoming. 

“Bruno has quit the show for good," a source has told the Daily Mail. “He’s going to be a judge only on Dancing With The Stars from now on.”

It has also been widely reported that Anton will remain on the show as a judge, having proven his worth to Strictly bosses with his strong performance on the panel last year. 

"We have been told Anton’s contract as a judge is going to be renewed. The bosses were really happy with his performance," a source told the Sun in February. 

Bruno was stuck in the US for most of last year, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions making it difficult for him to fly back and forth between Los Angeles and Britain on a regular basis. He didn't waste time building his stardom across the Atlantic, delighting the audience of ABC's Dancing with the Stars 2021 with his iconic one-liners and hilarious jokes. It's rumored that Bruno will return for this year's edition of the US reality show, but nothing has been confirmed yet. 

Strictly star Anton Du Beke is one of the few individuals who can say they've competed and judged on the BBC's flagship dance competition. Ahead of his upcoming show, An Evening With Anton Du Beke, on May 8, 2022, at the Theatre Royal in Brighton, the beloved star revealed his deepest dancing desires.

As rumors of a Strictly Judges 2022 shakeup abound, many fans have concerns that Anton won't be returning as a judge. However, according to a conversation the star had with The Argus, he has no intention of going anywhere.

Anton said, “I'm absolutely thrilled being a judge on Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t tell you how excited I am every week to watch the couples performing their numbers, knowing exactly what they’ve been through to get to this point."

“And with my fingers crossed they don’t have any mishaps," he added, "I’m all up to speed on what mishaps go like. I have had lots of those over the years." 

The former Strictly pro added, "So I'm very, very excited about being a judge and loving every second.”

As well as all the excitement of being involved in the show, there's a pretty obvious privilege to being one of the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 judges, as Anton explained to the publication. “The big difference between dancing on the show and being a judge of course is I’m guaranteed to make the final, that’s the most exciting thing for me."

Considering he's been involved in the show since its inception, Anton is synonymous with some of the show's most iconic moments. Although it's hard for him to choose his most treasured among these, he said, "The moment I had with Brucie when we did ‘me and my shadow’.

Bruce Forsyth, who died aged-89 in 2017, is remembered as one of the UK's greatest ever entertainers and hosted the show for several seasons.

Anton, also a singer, added his other favorite memory from the show. “Another great highlight, we opened the show in musicals week, with a great ensemble piece that I sang and walked through the number with everybody. It’s called ‘Anything can happen on the Strictly stage’ and I loved that moment."

Regarding his dream partner, Anton said, “Well, I’ve always said I never mind who they put me with on the show. I’ve always enjoyed dancing with all the ladies I’ve danced with over the years."

However, he admitted that there's one person he's always dreamt of dancing with—Darcey Bussell! "I never got a chance to dance with Dame Darcey herself," he said. "That would have been a lot of fun."

Not one to give up, Anton added, "Maybe sometime in the future.”

A shake-up to the Strictly judges lineup may be on the cards, as two established panelists weigh in on who is and isn't coming back this season. As more information comes to light it appears that big changes may be in store for the series in 2022.

It's been a week of big news for the hit show as Strictly professionals confirmed their relationship and the next season's professionals were announced. Now, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 judges are weighing in on who'll be ranking the next season's contestants.

Craig Revel Horwood appears to have spilled the beans on at least one judge for the next series as he spoke about 2021 newcomer Anton Du Beke.

Speaking to a live audience during his All Balls and Glitter tour he said, "I really love Anton. I think he is fantastic."

Craig added, "I think last year he did a great job on Strictly as a judge. And we have just found out he is going to do it again this year.”

Some concerned fans worry that this spells the end for Bruno Tolioni, who stepped down from the last season owing to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Addressing his absence, his fellow judge added, “I miss his energy. But he always used to come off and say, ‘Darling, I am exhausted.’"

The toll that flying between the UK and US, where he judges Dancing With The Stars, may impact his desire to return to the show. However, Shirley Ballas hinted that it may not actually be curtains for Bruno after all—but there's a key change she'd like to see.

The Mirror reports that speaking at the Royal Television Society Awards, Shirley said, "I hope Anton stays, but we could have five seats." She added, "I just did the tour with Bruno and he was on point and on form. There is nobody like Bruno. He is a force to be reckoned with."

Rose Ayling-Ellis, the Strictly Come Dancing winner of 2021, is expected to receive an MBE from Her Majesty the Queen later this year. The Eastenders actress gained fame and public approval when she appeared on the nineteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing as the show's first-ever deaf contestant.

The actress was paired with the professional dancer Giovanni Pernice and the pair ultimately won the competition together after a series of impressive performances. In addition to their win, Rose and Giovanni received a huge accolade for their most passionate dance as the two performed in silence as a tribute to the deaf community. 

It is thought that Rose's powerful impact on the show's viewers while participating in the show has encouraged Her Majesty to award her with an MBE during her birthday honors awards.

Sources told The Sun, “Her success on Strictly shone a light on the deaf community in a way that surpassed everyone’s expectations."

"Not only did she raise awareness about the challenges deaf people face, she was a true inspiration for them—particularly young people. She really did break down boundaries."

After appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, the interest in learning sign language and enrolling in sign-language courses spiked in the UK. Giovanni and Rose both addressed this news and said at the time that this was one of their crowning achievements while participating in the competition.

While visiting the set of another British TV favorite, soap EastEnders, Camilla made the revelations in conversation with cast members of the show.

Camilla, accompanied by husband Prince Charles, made the royal visit in honor of an upcoming special episode being filmed to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

While at the studios in Elstree Centre in Borehamwood, North London, Camilla discussed her love for Strictly while chatting to 2021 winner Rose Ayling-Ellis, an actress who scooped the Glitterball Trophy alongside professional dancer Giovanni Pernice in 2021.

Rose, who is deaf, won over legions of fans as she triumphed in the competition, relying on the vibrations of the sound to keep in time with the music.

Seeing the actress, Camilla beamed and is reported to have said. “Rose, the Strictly star. I said we were all voting for Rose, I don't know how you did all those dances.”

Rose then plucked up the courage to ask, “Can I ask you, does the Queen watch Strictly Come Dancing?” to which Camilla replied that she did, and that the royal households were fans.

Speaking to the Daily Mail after the royal visit, Rose later said, “It was really funny because she's a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing and she mentioned that she voted for me which is so lovely, and her grandchildren watch it.

“It is amazing, so lovely. I mean come on, its the Royal family voting for me, sometimes you forget how many people watch the show, I am mind blown.”

Camilla has long been known to be a fan of Strictly—and was even granted access to a rehearsal of the show back in 2011.

Strictly Come Dancing judges may need to salsa their way down to a chapel soon, according to loyal fans of Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell. The duo has been sharing snaps from their envy-inducing holiday in sunny Australia, with the two of them looking happy as ever in each shot.

As Dianne is an Aussie native, they've also been having quality time with her family and even met a family of dolphins too. After an Instagram post shared by the pair sparked many of their followers suggesting Joe puts a ring on it, he may be feeling the heat!

It was announced that Oti Mabuse has left Strictly Come Dancing and will no longer be participating in the beloved dancing competition.

Strictly announced on social media, "Oti has been a truly wonderful part of Strictly for the past seven years. Her energy, creativity and talent have contributed to so many of the show’s most memorable moments and she will be hugely missed, not only by viewers but the entire team."

"She leaves a dazzling legacy behind her, as the only professional dancer to lift the Glitterball Trophy in two consecutive years. We couldn't be prouder of Oti and what she has achieved. She will always be at the very heart of our Strictly family and we wish her every success in her already bright future."

Oti's departure isn't a huge shock for fans as there were rumors that Oti Mabuse is 'unlikely' to return to Strictly Come Dancing after she announced her new role as a judge on the ITV show Dancing on Ice.

This announcement also comes less than two weeks since Oti Mabuse revealed the abuse she's 'very exposed' to while competing on Strictly Come Dancing during a BBC interview.

Oti herself announced her departure on Instagram and thanked the 'best team' who had all been a part of her Strictly journey. She did not explain why she has left the show, but it is thought that she is ready for a new challenge after her long stint on the competition.

Oti said in her post, "Never easy to say goodbye ♥️ I have been part of the most amazing TV show, Strictly Come Dancing for the past seven years and it has been an incredible time."

"Lifting the glitter ball twice and having the best journey with all my celebrities, but also meeting and working with the best team, crew, producers, celebs and incredible professional dancers! You are my family and I adore you all forever."

She added that this was a decision she had not made lightly. "I can’t put in to words how difficult this decision has been, but I have decided not to return for the next series. 💛" revealed Oti.

"Dance will always be my first love and to everyone, my family especially, friends, strictly fans and judges who have been my support throughout my strictly journey, thank you for being incredible! You are irreplaceable in my heart and have made everyday unforgettable! I love you," the dancer concluded as she shared some images of her favorite memories on the show.

Following this announcement, many former contestants and judges involved in the Strictly Come Dancing family have reached out to this beloved member of the team and wished her well with her career.

Oti's sister, Motsi Mabuse who is one of the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 judges, took to Twitter to say, "I am so proud of this girl ❤️❤️❤️❤️I was there from your very [first] step and I always wanted to look out for you all the way but watching you grow is a privilege, I sit back and tears of pride roll down !! Love you sis go get them and Good Luck 🍀 @otimabuse she is a Lion, fearless."

Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac who was partnered with Oti during the fourteenth season of Strictly Come Dancing took to Twitter to share his love for the dancer.

"@OTIMABUSE! (This must be how it feels when the kids leave home!?) You are, & will always be, THE GREATEST. Not just cos you're THE BEST, but cos you're GREAT, in every way. Congrats on everything you are & thanks for all you gave to us. Go fly even higher, my dear friend!⭐️," said Danny.

Former contestant Dan Walker also commented on the Strictly's legends departure. "Absolutely lovely human and a Strictly legend. Long may she reign," said the BBC presenter. 

Other former coworkers also wished the professional dancer well on her departure post. "Good luck for the future Queen," said Giovanni Pernice. 

Graziano Di Prima commented, "My friend!!! I'm gonna miss you so so much!! you are a star my darling!! I had the pleasure to share the stage with you !!"

Dianne Buswell chimed in to say, "Love you mabuse, you're a star we will miss you so much xxxxxx"

Fans are devastated that Oti will be leaving the show and many have shared their grief on social media. 

"Oti Mabuse is leaving Strictly and I think I'll never feel joy again," said one Strictly fan. "Oti Mabuse quitting strictly is worse news than the imminent world war," said another devastated fan on Twitter. 

Although Oti has left Strictly, fans can still see her on their screens on the judging panel for Dancing on Ice. The next episode of Dancing on Ice is scheduled for Sunday, February 27, at 6:30pm on ITV.

Oti Mabuse reveals the abuse and misogyny that she was exposed to while she participated in Strictly Come Dancing as opens up in a new interview and embarks on a new project.

In an interview with BBC Breakfast, Oti Mabuse spoke with presenters Naga Muchetty and Charlie Stayt about the abuse she experienced while participating as one of the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 couples. 

In the interview, the dancer revealed that her time as a professional dancer on the show left her exposed to misogyny and racial abuse from the public. She was asked by the presenter how she planned to address this abuse when trying to inspire children from schools across the UK to follow their dreams.

"You're on Strictly, whenever you dance you're brilliant, and you know I think that," said Naga. "There are still people who will criticize you. You have been fat-shamed, your body has been criticized."

"You've had racial abuse, misogyny. These children you're going to be talking to will be aware of that."

"What are you going to say to them, in terms of one, how you first felt when it happened because it's always a shock the first time it happens and you see it continue to happen, and how you deal with it?"

Oti replied, "It is a shock, especially because you know it, whatever you're feeling, however, you're feeling, deep down, you know it. And when other people kind of mention it, you feel very exposed"

The professional dancer continued to reveal that although she has been subjected to this torment because of her place in the public eye, she is lucky to be surrounded by good people who support her.

"It's not the best feeling in the world and I'm really lucky that I have great people around me that support me and constantly encourage me and fill me with positive thoughts," said Oti.

"First about myself, about the work that I'm doing and I am working, so I get tired. The little voice inside that's quite negative sometimes gets loud and you start to believe those things about yourself as well."

She concluded with a positive note and explained that despite the abuse, she believes she can help the younger generation to achieve their goals and tune out the negative comments in the same way she has.

"Today, hopefully, I'll be able to tell those kids to just not listen, surround yourself with positive people, and stay focused on what you want to achieve," said Oti.

"And also, be kind, really. I think that's the message that we still need to continue telling people about, is just reminding ourselves and each other to be kind - to ourselves and each other."

Earlier this year, Oti Mabuse made a huge move and replaced judge, John Barrowman, on the hit ITV show Dancing on Ice 2022. It is now rumored that she has swapped the ice rink for the ballroom floor permanently.

Although she was one of the Strictly Come Dancing Judges' favorites in 2021 and won the show in 2020 with partner Bill Bailey, it has been reported that Oti Mabuse is 'unlikely' to return to Strictly Come Dancing. 

Strictly Come Dancing is not set to return until later this year, so only time will tell. In the meantime, Oti will continue to be on your screens on Dancing on Ice, every Sunday at 6pm on ITV.

Fans think that the Strictly curse may have struck again as professional dancers Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova are seen checking into a hotel together.

Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington, are rumored to be dating as the pair were seen checking into a hotel together during the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour 2022. 

Kai Widdrington, who was partnered with AJ Odudu during the most recent Strictly series, was in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend of five years Giulia Dotta until just recently in 2021 when the pair broke up. 

Similarly, Nadiya who was most recently in a Strictly couple with Dan Walker and one of the judges' favorite couples in the competition, was engaged to footballer Matija Škarabot but the couple ended their long term relationship just recently in 2021. 

It has now been rumored that Kai and Nadiya have been able to heal their broken hearts by seeking comfort with one another as they have begun dating during the Strictly live tour.

A source told The Sun, “It was low-key at first but they can’t help it now—they’re very much together. Kai was outside the hotel for about 15 minutes and waited until everyone else in the touring party had checked in—but Nadiya came along a short while later."

“She handed him her bags, and together they went and checked into a room. It’s clear they’re a proper item.”

Another onlooker said, “Kai and Nadiya didn’t seem at all secretive about their relationship – they’re a couple like any other.”

Although Kai and Nadiya have not confirmed their romance, sources close to them have confirmed that the couple has been getting closer for months and have already established a close bond.

The insider explained, “Nadiya and Kai have incredible chemistry and a very strong friendship."

“Right from week one they connected and are always laughing and messing about. Nadiya and Matija actually separated months ago and, obviously, Nadiya confided in Dan at the time. Kai, meanwhile, has also been brilliant and she confided in him throughout the series.”

This isn't the first time that there have been rumors about the Strictly Curse during the 2021 series. Fans loved Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice's on-screen chemistry and the couple fueled the rumors by saying their bond is 'more than dancing.' 

Despite denying they were in a relationship, fans refused to believe that Rose and Giovanni's Strictly chemistry wasn't the real deal and Giovanni was ultimately forced to break his silence and address dating rumors confirming that they were not a couple.

With the 2022 series of Dancing On Ice set to kick off in just a matter of days, experts have revealed the contestants most likely to skate their way to the winner's trophy, thanks to one particular advantage.

Dancing On Ice 2022 will glide onto our screens this Sunday, with the all-star line-up having been confirmed and presenters, Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, set to return.

Thanks to the advantage of their already solid fan based, formed as a result of making a name for themselves on their respective reality TV shows, it's been said that Brendon and Liberty have a better chance of stealing the show than other members of this year's Dancing On Ice cast.

Of course, Brendon also has the added skill of ballroom dancing, which he will no doubt be able to transfer to the ice. 

Brendon is in first place, with 3/1 odds of being this year's Dancing On Ice winner, with influencer Liberty falling in close second, with a 9/2 chance, according to bookmaker BetVictor.

"Ahead of show Brendan Cole is the clear favourite at 3/1. Cole will arrive with plenty of dancing experience from his years on Strictly. We expect to see Love Island finalist Liberty Poole to perform well in the competition," a BetVictor spokesperson explained. 

"Poole is certainly popular with the public and could have huge support from her 1.5 million Instagram followers. Pop princesses Rachael Stevens and Kimberly Wyatt are both 7/1 and will have a solid grounding of moving to a beat which should ensure they reach the later stages of the Sunday night show."

Although the winner of Strictly Come Dancing has only just been announced in the final, and fans still have the Strictly Christmas Special to look forward to, viewers are already getting excited to watch contestants put to the test on a very different type of dance floor. Dancing on Ice is set to return in the not-to-distant future with its magnificent ice dance routines and complicated lifts, twists and turns.

Who are the Dancing On Ice judges for 2022?

Dancing on Ice has featured some A-list judges throughout its history, welcoming the likes of Spice Girl Emma Bunton, The Pussycat Dolls' Ashley Roberts and figure skater Robin Cousins over the years. 

The most recent panel in 2021 consisted of Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo, ice dance Olympians Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, and John Barrowman. 

Ashley, Jayne and Christopher will be returning, but it was confirmed only recently that Oti Mabuse will be the newest judge and will be replacing John Barrowman due to his former misconduct. 

The actor has been accused of repeatedly exposing himself on the set of Doctor Who, on which he played Captain Jack Harkness. He apologized for his actions in May, just a few months after ITV canceled its Viewpoint finale amid Noel Clarke sexual harassment allegations. 

ITV have now confirmed John would leave his two-year-long role as a judge on Dancing on Ice, telling The Mirror, "We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing on Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials.”

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV spoke about how excited Dancing on Ice is to welcome Oti to the panel. 

“Oti is not only a supremely talented dancer and choreographer but she brings enormous fun and energy to all that she does. It’s fantastic to be welcoming her to our Ice Panel,” said the ITV spokesperson.

Sally Dynevor 

Perhaps one of the most well-known of these for ITV fans is Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, who is the first famous name announced for the series, having never figure skated before in her life. The courageous actor has played Sally Webster on the soap since 1986 and is the mother of Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, who is set to star in an Exciting Times TV adaptation.

Sally shared the brilliant news about her Dancing On Ice participation during a recent appearance on ITV daytime show, Lorraine. 

“This is a massive challenge, Lorraine,” she revealed to host Lorraine Kelly. “It really, really is. I’m not getting any younger, I’ve just got to take every opportunity I get so that when I’m old I can say you know what? I gave it a go.”

Sally added that, despite feeling "so scared", she is determined to prove to herself she can do it. “I just want to do this for myself. Give me a bit of confidence and do something different," she said.

Happy Mondays star Bez has also confirmed his participation in Dancing on Ice 2022. The English musician, who has starred in multiple reality shows already including Celebrity MasterChef 2021, shared the exciting news during a recent appearance on This Morning. 

"It's going to be a whole new experience, I think I'll grow up to like it," he told hosts, Holly Willoughby, and Phillip Schofield.

Stef Reid might already be well-known to sport fans as she is a Paralympic athlete who has achieved great success throughout her career, including securing a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games and a silver medal at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Now Stef has been confirmed as taking on the challenge of participating in Dancing on Ice 2022. 

Announcing the news on Good Morning Britain, the Paralympian declared, “I have some really exciting news. I'm going to be picking up a new sport this winter and it comes with a little bit of showbiz. I'm going to be a contestant on Dancing on Ice and it's a little bit scary but I cannot wait!"

Regan Gascoigne 

Regan is not only a dancer, but the son of football legend Paul Gascoigne and he is now set to take part on Dancing on Ice 2022.

“Obviously I dance and love dancing but it’s the skill of this,” he reportedly declared as he discussed his new challenge. “I’ve always wanted to do it. Always! Ever since I was a kid!”

Ben Foden

Rugby player Ben Foden has now also been confirmed as a contestant on Dancing on Ice 2022. The sportsman, who shares two children with his former wife and Saturdays’ singer Una Healy, seems delighted to be joining the show and has discussed his childhood love of ice skating.  

As reported by the RadioTimes, Ben explained, "I used to skate a little when I was a kid. I’d go to ice discos when I was 15, 16 (years old) and you’d always see these kids that could do pirouettes that had a proper dancing background. 

“I like the idea of learning a new sport and a new skill. I’m quite competitive as well so I like the challenge of competing against others doing something that I’m not necessarily good at!"

Whether Ben will go on to shine on the Dancing on Ice rink remains to be seen!

Love Island star Liberty Poole, who amassed thousands of fans during her time in the Mallorcan villa over the summer, will also be competing on Dancing on Ice’s next series. Opening up about her forthcoming appearance, Liberty reflected on how she already enjoys ice skating as a hobby, so is excited to learn more during her time on the hit show.  

“I ice skate as a hobby sometimes so I can get around the rink but I can’t do any tricks, no pirouetting or anything”, she said. “So I’m really looking forward to pushing myself and learning as much as I possibly can.” 

Rachel Stevens

Former S-Club 7 star Rachel Stevens will be skating onto the rink for Dancing on Ice 2022. The singer appeared on ITV's This Morning to talk about her excitement about participating in the show.

"Now it feels really real so I’m like, oh my God," Rachel told Holly Willoughby. "I feel so excited, obviously really nervous, it’s one of those things until you do it you don’t know what’s going to happen."

The star revealed that her daughters were also particularly excited to see their mum in the competition and were eager to see the fun costumes their mother would be wearing on the ice.

"The opportunity came up and I just thought, what an amazing thing to learn a new skill. I love the whole idea of working with a team and your partner and also for my girls to be a part of this. They are at an age now where they love all the costumes!" said Rachel.

Brendan Cole

Brendan Cole, the famous ballroom dancer all the way from New Zealand is another confirmed contestant in the show.

Brendan was revealed to be a contestant on ITV’s Loose Women. “I’m so, so excited,”  said the dancer. “It’s been a while coming now. I’ve known I’d be doing the show for quite some time and I want to get started, I’m so excited to be on the show.”

While training for the competition, the dancer has had a few tricky run-ins and has already sliced his partner, Vanessa Bauer, across the back while training for the show. It is understood that despite setbacks the dancer is determined to succeed and has already promised fans that he will perform the iconic 'headbanger' move on week one.

Kimberley Wyatt

Former Pussycat Doll singer and dancer Kimberly Wyatt has also been confirmed in the Strictly line up. 

The singer discussed this new exciting challenge on Heart Radio this month with her former bandmate Ashley Roberts. "I have signed up for Dancing on Ice! I'm nervous, that ice is going to hit hard," said Kimberly.

"I'm just excited to see what I can do on there. I'm up for a challenge!"

Kye Whyte

Olympic athlete Kye Whyte who made history at the recent 2020 Tokyo Olympics when he won Great Britain's first-ever BMX Olympic medal, has also been confirmed as a contestant. 

The Olympic athlete told CBBC's Newround that he was 'feeling good' and excited about participating in the show and even thought he had a fair chance of winning.

"I think I can win Dancing On Ice. I’d love to see if I can make the final because, as I said, I’m very competitive. You know what? I want to make the final!," said Kye.

Connor Ball

The Vamps singer Connor Ball has also been confirmed in the line up. The singer revealed that although her is excited to participate, he is certain that he will experience a fair few injuries while taking part in the show.

“There is no way I’m coming out of this with no injury, but I’m doing Dancing on Ice. Excited. Scared. Nervous,” Connor said on Twitter.

After his first training day in October, the singer also took to social media to reveal that he was struggling with the physical demands of the show. 

"First day of training on ice and my body feels like it’s been attacked from all angles OW *books massage*" said the singer. Connor also joked on Twitter, "please don’t tell me to break a leg cause I actually will."

Ria Hebden

Ria Hebden who is best known as Lorraine's resident entertainment presenter, has also been signed on as a contestant on the show. 

Ria announced her involvement in October when she took to Twitter to say, "OMG this is really happening!! I'm delighted to share that I'll be joining the 2022 cast of ITV's most sparkliest show, Dancing on Ice and I can't wait to get my skates on!!"

On Lorraine the presenter announced that she was scared but thrilled by the new challenge. "It’ll be fun. I mean, this is one of ITV’s most sparkly shows, so when they asked me I was like, ‘Absolutely! I watch it at home, it’ll be brilliant to learn a new scary skill!' But you’ve got to say yes to things that excite you that are a little bit scary because that’s where the growth happens, right? I’m hoping so anyway!” said Ria.

When does Dancing on Ice 2022 start?

Dancing on Ice 2022 will return to ITV for its highly-anticipated 14th series in early January. 

The glitzy ice dance competition has aired on Sunday evenings since 2008, so it's thought likely that it will retain its prime weekend slot for next year's series.

Fans predict that ITV will begin broadcasting on Sunday, January 9, 2022. 

It has been revealed by ITV that Strictly Come Dancing's Oti Mabuse has joined the team of another dancing competition—but this time as a judge!

Oti Mabuse is best known for being one of the most loved professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing. After competing with celebrity Ugo Monye as one of the Strictly 2021 couples, it has been announced that Oti is now ready for a new challenge as a judge rather than a contestant.

Following the same path as her sister Motsi who was one of the Strictly Come Dancing judges 2021, Oti has made the decision to join the ITV competition, Dancing on Ice!

It was announced by ITV, "Oti Mabuse is to join the Ice Panel when Dancing On Ice returns to ITV and ITV Hub in January 2022. She’ll be alongside fellow judges Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill, and Christopher Dean."

Speaking about this upcoming challenge Oti said, "As a professional dancer I have always had so much respect for the skating professionals on Dancing On Ice. It is an exceptional skill that is also so beautiful to watch."

The professional dancer revealed that she was delighted to join the team and felt that she would have a special insight into juding Dancing on Ice 2022 because of her time as a professional dancer on Strictly.

"I'm feeling really enthusiastic about joining the panel alongside the legendary Torvill and Dean and Ashley Banjo. I can't wait to see the celebrities thrive as they learn how to ice-skate and to champion the professional skaters as they create incredible choreography," said Oti. 

"Having been on both sides of the table, I know a little bit about how they’ll be feeling. It's more than an honor and I already can’t wait to join the family."

Oti will be taking over from actor John Barrowman who began working on the show as a judge in 2019. The actor admitted to 'tomfoolery' on the set of Doctor Who, following allegations that he would expose his penis to other cast members regularly on set.

A spokesperson for ITV said in a statement at the time, "We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing On Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials."

The new series of Dancing on Ice is set to begin in just a few weeks in early January, so for those of us who have been left with a big hole in our hearts since Strictly finished, don't fear! The frosty dancing competition will be back for it's fourteenth series in just a few weeks, plus we'll also have the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 2021 to keep us entertained until then!

Rose Ayling-Ellis has taken to social media to talk about her love for her dance partner Giovanni Pernice as the two cinched the Glitterball on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night.

This weekend, the nation watched with delight as Giovanni and Rose won Strictly Come Dancing. This was the first time professional dancer Giovanni has won the Glitterball, and the first time a deaf contestant has participated, let alone won the competition.  

The Strictly Come Dancing 2021 winner has been labeled by fans as an ‘inspiration’ for making people ‘feel less alone’, but the ever-humble dancing champion Rose has taken to social media to instead pass the praise on to her partner Giovanni.

In a social media post, Rose gushed about her dance partner and reveal that it was his hard work that helped her win the competition. 

"I'm dedicating this post to the most wonderful human ever, Giovanni. The person who was there every day with me for four months, who knows truly what this journey has been for me, the reason why I have become confident within myself," said Rose in the caption. 

"He came into my world and brought the best out of me. I cannot thank him enough for all the work and effort to make me become the dancer that I am today. Winning the Glitterball is the best gift I could ever give to Giovanni because he really deserves it. I am beyond proud of us. I never thought I would leave Strictly with a best friend for life, thank you Gio 💕"

The Strictly champions' chemistry on the dancefloor had many fans convinced that the Strictly curse could be at play, as fans adored their close relationship and hoped that this pairing was a match outside of the competition too.

Although Rose and Giovanni said their connection is about more than just dancing, Giovanni dispelled dating rumors and assured fans that while they are close, they are not in a relationship and are just 'best friends'.

It has been reported that Rose Ayling-Ellis is now tipped for a new huge job after her impressive win on Strictly. The star, who was best known for her role in EastEnders, is expected to appear in another BBC show as there are rumors execs want her to star in a new drama series. The actress has already won our hearts, so a starring role in a new show sounds like a fantastic fit—fingers crossed it isn't too long until she is back on our screens again!

Strictly Come Dancing’s front-runner AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington broke down in tears in a joint appearance on It Takes Two. 

AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington appeared on It Takes Two on Friday night to discuss their decision to withdraw from the Strictly Come Dancing final owing to an ankle injury.

The pair were due to perform in Saturday night’s final and be in with a chance of scooping the glitterball trophy, but have been forced to quit after TV star AJ injured her ankle.

AJ, 33, and Kai, 26, broke down in tears when talking to Rylan Clark-Neal about their anguish over leaving the show. 

She said, “Do you know what, we had the best time and on Monday we rehearsed and we were just excited like, ‘Right, we're going to do the jive, we're going to do the Charleston, what a way to end our experience.'”

But sadly their joy was short-lived as AJ was soon in 'acute pain'.

Explaining more about how the injury came out, she said, “My ankle's given way and my ligament has ruptured and it's just not gonna happen. We're gutted because we were ready to smash it.

“This isn't the way that we wanted to go out, obviously, but even just looking back at all of those moments, it's just been an absolute pleasure dancing with Kai every single week, so thank you.”

Reflecting on their journey, Kai—whose first year it is on Strictly—added, “We were really hoping that we were going to get over the line and dance in the final. 

“At the end of the day, AJ’s health is number one concern. Although we won’t be dancing in the final, we still earned our place in the final.”

Thankfully the couple can look back on scoring a perfect 40 last week. Kai confessed, “We went out on a high”

But one thing viewers couldn’t fail to notice was how cosy the pair looked on the sofa, following weeks of romance rumours. 

One viewer tweeted, “Kai ‘I never cry’ Widdrington crying after him and aj got a perfect 40 for their quickstep and in their it takes two interview tonight…he cares about her so much.”

While another said, “I was so wrong about Aj and Kai, I can really see their chemistry now and seeing them on Strictly It Takes Two #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice has admitted that he would have totally been ‘jealous’ if anyone else was paired with his beloved dancing partner Rose Ayling-Ellis. 

The couple's relationship has been a source of much chitchat throughout the season and it's likely the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists will keep fans talking long after the Strictly 2021 final!

The happy duo appeared on the Strictly after show, It Takes Two, where they chatted about their upcoming fight to take home the glitterball trophy. 

While discussing their experience training and getting to know each other, Giovanni opened up about the unique training methods that they developed to help Rose learn the routines to perfectly match the music, despite her deafness.

He explained, "I think at first obviously it was different because we have never done anything like this before, so I realized that I have to change and adapt my way of teaching."

"Only with the help of Rose we managed to find this way that worked for both of us," he continued. "So we ended up both understanding what was good for us."

Discussing how much he has loved being partnered with Rose, Giovanni said, "Since day one it’s been a dream. It really has been a dream and if she was doing it with somebody else I would be jealous. I’d be jealous like “Hmmm, I want to dance with her!'"

During their appearance, Rose discussed her personal journey while on the show.

"From week one until now I see the scores are getting more and more, and I realized that I’m actually not that bad!," she admitted. "I mean I’m improving and I’m definitely starting to believe in myself more."

The very sweet interaction between the pair was the same night that Strictly's Giovanni Pernice trapped his foot ahead of final in a near-disastrous mishap—but he's not the only accident-prone one this season.

The couple was set to dance in this weekend’s final against John Whaite and Johannes Radebe and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington. However, shortly after Strictly's AJ Odudu's partner spoke out after her devastating ankle injury, it was revealed that she's had to leave the competition.

Giovanni Pernice's place in the Strictly Come Dancing final came into jeopardy last night after the professional dancer nearly crushed his foot in a door. 

With just over 24 hours to go until Saturday's live show, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists know there's no time for slip-ups—especially when it comes to their feet. 

Tomorrow night's episode will see the two remaining couples—Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe—battle it out in front of the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 judges and millions of viewers in the hope of securing that coveted Glitterball trophy. Unfortunately, finalist AJ Odudu has been forced to withdraw from the glitzy competition with her partner Kai Widdrington due to a debilitating ankle injury. 

It appears the Channel 5 presenter's devastating blow wasn't enough to scare off Giovanni, however, who had a very close call with injury himself this week. 

In footage obtained by the MailOnline, the 31-year-old can be seen nearly accidentally crushing his foot at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London. The short video was taken on Thursday evening, just before the filming of 'It Takes Two', Strictly's chatty companion show. 

In the clip, which also shows Rose talking amicably to a fan, Giovanni attempts to stop a door from shutting after three men emerge from it. 

"Keep it, keep it, keep it," he says to them urgently, attempting to catch it with his foot. Unfortunately, the men appear to ignore his pleas, leaving Giovanni's foot momentarily trapped. 

"That's my foot!" he exclaims as the door closed in. "I can't get in?" 

Luckily, the talented choreographer escaped any real injury in the mishap, quickly brushing it off in time for his interview on It Takes Two. It's been widely predicted that this year could mark Giovanni's first-ever Strictly win, after placing runner-up on the reality series an impressive three times already. 

The Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists have worked long and hard to make it to the grand final, but their body language could suggest that one might find it more of a challenge to “power through to a win”.

The Strictly finalists 2021 have just three performances left to show the Strictly Come Dancing judges 2021 and the voting public at home that they deserve to be crowned this year’s champions. Though relieved they weren’t the ones who left Strictly Come Dancing ahead of the grand Strictly Come Dancing 2021 final on Saturday, 18th December, the hard work has begun again for Rose Ayling-Ellis and John Whaite.

Sadly, AJ Odudu has reportedly been forced to pull out of the Strictly final after a devastating ankle injury, meaning that at the moment, it seems Rose and John will be the only ones competing for the crown. But their most recent appearances could be enlightening when it comes to predicting a possible winner.

The Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists that still have work to do to be crowned winners 

With the Strictly final now just days away, the pressure is well and truly on for the remaining Strictly 2021 couples as three dances stand between them and lifting that iconic glitterball trophy. When it comes to the Bookmakers’ predictions, Strictly’s Rose and Giovanni have been consistently tipped to take home the title of Strictly winners. 

Sadly for fellow Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists John and Johannes, whose amazing Strictly Pirates of the Caribbean performance slashed their odds at the time, it’s this popular couple who’ve been trailing the other finalists in recent odds. Whilst BetVictor currently has odds of 10-1 for both John and Johannes and AJ and Kai respectively, Rose remains 1-12 favourite.

Now it seems The Great British Bake Off winner’s own body language could suggest they apparently “lack” a quality that could see them succeed Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse as champions. Buzz Bingo asked body language expert Judi James for her opinion on which of the remaining three couples can hold their nerve and do exactly what it takes to raise the glitterball this Saturday. 

And when it comes to John and Johannes, Judi reportedly believes they lack confidence. The expert explained that “their body language hints at a psychological state of imposter syndrome, meaning they might just lack the inner arrogance that can power them through to a win”.

Though if there’s anything that could help give them the confidence they need in the Strictly Come Dancing final, it’s their chemistry as a couple. Back in November, John candidly opened up on why he rejected Johannes Radebe as a partner at first, but since being paired together on the launch show, they’ve gone from strength to strength.

“It has been good to watch the dancefloor chemistry of this couple grow and to see them include moments of passion and sexual tension into their routines,” Judi continued. “They will be competing with the super-intense sizzle factor supplied weekly by AJ & Kai so hopefully they will have the confidence to let rip for the final”. 

Analysing the body language she expects to see in winners, Judi added, “Winners need to show intense body language synchronicity on and off the floor and John and Johannes are now using spontaneously tactile rituals, eye contact and even breathing in unison when they chat to Claudia.”

“They share a powerful objective in terms of breaking down barriers and this reflects in their gleaming eye expressions and their obvious excitement at working together to do so,” she declared.

So whilst John and Johannes might need to dig a little deeper to revive their confidence and overcome a supposed level of “imposter syndrome” to win, their incredible bond and “excitement at working together” might mean that the crown isn’t completely out of reach after all. With even more hard work, fans would no doubt be delighted to see John’s confidence peak in the final.  

Who are the favourites to be the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 winners? 

If the current odds turn out to predict which of the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists will be winners, then Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice are the likeliest to lift the glitterball trophy. Some might wonder whether Giovanni has ever won Strictly, yet this would be his first ever year. When it comes to their body language, Judi James revealed that whilst John and Johannes might lack some confidence, Rose is “fearless” in her performances. 

The expert suggested that she and Giovanni have remained resilient, sharing, “So far in this competition Rose has looked utterly fearless and this has led to Giovanni producing some rather parental-looking body language signals as he gazes at her in a mixture of what looks like awe and adoration.”

And it’s not just coming from Giovanni’s side, as Judi added, “She is fearless with him too, hitting him playfully and returning some of his comments with cheeky banter”. 

Judi believes, “This couple bring a new form of chemistry to the dancefloor in terms of displays of elegance, subtlety and repressed emotions. Their body language signals during their routines are very similar to Torvill and Dean’s during their Olympic era, when it was the subtle moments of what looked like supressed longing that had fans hooked on the ‘romance’ even though they knew it wasn’t for real. Rose’s calm body language tinged with the subtlest moments of intensity are in total contrast to AJ’s fireworks, making for a fascinating finale.”

If that wasn’t enough, the expert has suggested that their charisma could be unmatched by other Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists, John and Johannes or AJ and Kai. She said, “They are as mesmerising off the dancefloor as they are on it, maybe more so. If they are Torvill and Dean during their routines they are Ant and Dec during their interviews.”

Why did AJ and Kai pull out of Strictly Come Dancing?

This week Strictly fans were shocked when it was revealed that one of the three Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists, AJ Odudu, had sustained a “repeated traumatic impact injury” to her right ankle. Taking to social media, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalist seemed to suggest that she was planning on dancing in the live final, health permitting. 

AJ revealed that they “haven’t been nor will be able to rehearse properly ahead of the live final”, before going on to end the heartbreaking post by saying, “I sincerely hope it will be all right on the night”. 

Since then, Strictly’s AJ’s partner has spoken out, with Kai sharing his support for her and now, very sadly, AJ and Kai have had to pull out of the final. 

In a detailed and deeply personal message to fans shared on social media, AJ revealed that she was unable to perform in the final, despite even asking the doctors if she could "perform in a medical moonboot". The star went on to thank Kai and everyone involved in her Strictly experience, as well as the medical team who've been caring for her. 

"Strictly Come Dancing has been a lifelong dream of mine and I'm glad it came true", she continued. "‘Good luck to my partners in dance, @john_whaite & @Johannesradebe and @Rose.a.e and @perniceGiovann1. I will be cheering you all on (on one leg). 😆🎉🎉".

Fans will no doubt miss both AJ and Kai hugely when the final airs, though it seems she will be cheering on her fellow Strictly Come Dancing 2021 finalists too. 

With such intriguing body language displayed by John and Rose, it looks set to be a very interesting Strictly final, albeit tinged with sadness after AJ's departure. Whether John will regain inner confidence in time to out-dance odds-on favourite Rose with her “fearless” performances remains to be seen. 

But we do know one thing for sure—we can’t wait to see which of the Strictly Come Dancing 201 finalists lift the glitterball this year!

AJ Odudu's partner on Strictly Come Dancing has hailed her 'positive energy' following the TV presenter's 'devastating' ankle injury ahead of Saturday night's final.

With just days to go until the Strictly Come Dancing finale, the pressure is on for the remaining three couples to dial up their practices and perfect their Saturday night routines. 

Unfortunately for one pairing though, it looks like rest—rather than rehearsals—might be their only way of taking that coveted Glitterball trophy this weekend. 

Just hours after being tipped the new Strictly Come Dancing 'frontrunner', finalist AJ Odudo has revealed she has suffered a devastating injury—shedding serious doubt over her chances at victory in the fast-approaching finale. 

The British TV presenter said that she is "unable to move without crutches" on Wednesday, having being diagnosed with "repeated impact trauma" to the "joint, capsule and ligaments" of her right ankle. 

The acute injury, which initially caused her to "projectile vomit" from the pain, has inhibited her from practicing her routines with pro partner Kai ahead of the live final —giving their rival Strictly couples an undeniable advantage on the evening. It's already been widely speculated the Rose and Giovanni could win Strictly 2021, and with the tipped runner ups currently out of action, their triumph over Johannes and John could be a shoo-in. 

Despite feeling "gutted" over the setback, AJ says that she is determined to remain "hopeful" that she'll recover in time for the big night. 

As well as seeking treatment from a "fantastic medical team", she is also receiving the support of her beloved pro partner, Kai. 

She gushed about the "incredible" English choreographer in the post, revealing that he has been "carrying me emotionally and physically (literally)" during this difficult time. 

Kai has also praised his partner's attitude towards the injury, telling BBC Strictly's official Instagram that he admires AJ's "positive energy" in the face of hardship. 

"Even on crutches, she's still having a smile on her face and laughing," he said. 

Luckily for AJ, she will have access to top-class medical treatment on the BBC reality show. The Repair Shop star Jay Blades, who has been confirmed to perform on the upcoming Strictly Christmas special, spilled some insider details earlier this month on just how impressive the show's physio team is. 

"They hook you up with a physio and it's unbelievable," he said. "I'll tell you how unbelievable it was, I cried because she got rid of the pain."

Opening the series with a brilliant score of 34 for her Jive, AJ has generally been one of the top contestants, with just a few exceptions when certain dances didn’t quite go her way. Of course scores don’t count for everything and when it comes to the public vote, the Strictly couples who’ll end up facing the dance off can sometimes get a little hard to predict.  

After securing 30 in the quarter-final and having to dance her Salsa again, the judges ultimately opted to save AJ and Kai. This meant BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova were the ones who left Strictly Come Dancing ahead of the semi-final.

But despite the disappointment of that week for Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Odudu, she certainly came back fighting in last weekend’s semi-final with a place as a finalist at stake. So much so that AJ and Kai were joint leaders with Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, who also achieved scores of 39 and 40 for their two dances.  

And it seems AJ’s body language could be very enlightening indeed! Reflecting on the remaining couples’ semi-final performances, body language expert Darren Stanton has analysed them on behalf of Betfair Casino. Now he’s revealed who *he* thinks could lift the glitterball trophy in the final and AJ is in with an amazing chance.

Darren explained, "AJ narrowly managed to escape being voted off in the quarter-final, so all eyes were on her as she took to the dance floor on Saturday. The judges were keeping a watchful eye on AJ and her partner Kai and it’s clear the pair worked hard to up their game. AJ has the potential to be the eventual winner and this could be thanks to her strengthened connection with Kai as shown on the dance floor on Saturday.”

Throughout the competition speculation about a possible romance between AJ and Kai has arisen, though they’re believed to be just good friends and dance partners. Nevertheless, it seems their ballroom connection has “reached new heights”—a great sign for their final chances. 

"They were moving around as if physically connected as one person. The strength of their bond has reached new heights, with their near exit bringing them even closer together," Darren said. "Their body language was without fault throughout their performance and the hook at the end of the dance, the prolonged eye contact and general physicality between them shows the pair have built a very deep state of rapport between them.”

The expert also went on to discuss the way the judges reacted to Strictly Come Dancing's AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington’s dances and how the presenter could be a “frontrunner” as the countdown to the Strictly final continues. 

"Even the judges seem to think so, Anton was very complimentary about AJ, while Craig was the most positive he has been about AJ throughout the entire competition. Shirley put on a hugely passionate and animated display—clenching her fists and engaging her face—while delivering her feedback for the couple and her comments were truly heartfelt”, Darren said.

He then added, “I would even go as far to say AJ could emerge as the frontrunner as the final nears in the coming days and go on to lift the Glitterball trophy."

Exciting news for AJ and Kai fans as it seems their "strengthened connection" could potentially see them crowned Strictly 2021 winners.

Who is the current favourite to be crowned Strictly 2021 winner? 

Body language expert Darren’s analysis of the signs of Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Odudu’s “frontrunner” potential are perhaps all the more surprising and exciting given that the presenter is not currently many Bookmakers’ favourite to be crowned strictly 2021 winner. According to BetVictor’s latest odds, it’s still Rose and Giovanni who are tipped for the win with 1-8, compared to AJ and Kai’s odds of 7-1 and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe’s odds of 20-1. 

Whilst Darren thinks that AJ’s amazing bounce back from the quarter-final dance off to the semi-final performance has “frontrunner” signs, Rose ended up “stealing the show” with her “effortless” dances. 

He shared, "Last week, Rose looked like she was nervous and had lost confidence in her ability, but for the semi-final she was back to her best and the difference on Saturday was incomparable. It’s not surprising that all of the remaining couples pulled out the stops for the semi-final, but it’s fair to say Rose ended up stealing the show. Her performances were very seamless, you could even say almost effortless.”

The expert went on to express his belief that it was Rose’s Argentine Tango that particularly displayed her confidence as she asserted the same level of “dominance” as Giovanni. 

"While her Waltz saw her impeccably in sync with Giovanni, her confidence shined through during the Argentine Tango where she asserted just as much dominance as her dance partner”, Darren said. 

He continued, “Rose’s performance this week moved the judges, as Anton appeared slightly more emotional than normal when giving Rose her feedback and an overwhelmed Motsi was seen with a tear in her eye, commenting on how Rose's Waltz had been the ‘dance of the night’."

With this in mind, it’ll certainly be interesting to see whether Rose’s confidence and “effortless” performances with Giovanni end up surpassing AJ and Kai’s “deep state of rapport” on the dancefloor or whether John and Johannes could snatch the crown. Either way, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 final looks set to be one of the most exciting yet as fans prepare to vote for their Strictly 2021 winners.
