I have lost count of how many leopard print pieces I own. From shirts and dresses to shoes and scarves, I genuinely think half of my wardrobe is covered with wild cat spots.

As a fashion editor, I love following the latest spring/summer fashion trends and trying out new looks and outfit combinations, but there is something about the perennial print that always grabs my attention. I will finish it with slingbacks and a clutch bag for my friend's birthday drinks, and then for daytime, I will either add my favourite chunky sandals or, for an even easier take, I will use my best white trainers as a sporty footnote.

I always love her outfits, but there was one particular dress she sported back in Spring 2022 that I really fell for. While on tour in the Bahamas, the Princess of Wales wore a pink marble-effect dress by one of the best British clothing brands, Rixo. And of course, it was an instant hit with fashion fans all over the world.

Kate styled it to perfection with a small matching pink clutch bag and a pair of her signature espadrille wedge sandals. For the Academy Women’s luncheon, Pamela Anderson kept things low-key with a sophisticated white shirt, all that was needed to make an impression.

Minimalist can have maximum impact, as Pamela Anderson proved at the Jacquemus fashion show in 2024.

The Baywatch icon wore a layered, oversized monochromatic look, pairing a crisp white shirt with a matching pleated midi skirt. She finished her look with pops of black to break up the layers of white, with a crocodile-effect clutch and pointed-toe slingback heels.

Cara Delevingne found an inspired way to revamp the white shirt when she stepped out for the 2024 Annual L'Oréal Paris Women Of Worth Celebration in Hollywood.

Her two-piece ensemble included a grey pinstripe jacket with structured shoulders, as well as a matching pair of tailored trousers. Under her suit, she wore an oversized white button-up, tucking in one half and leaving the other half loose and perfectly dishevelled for an edgier touch.

Jenna Lyons

Jenna Lyons just gets it - the former creative director and president of retailer J.Crew from 2010 until April 2017 helped reimagine basics, and even dressed First Lady Michelle Obama.

Here, she showed how to make two basic pieces look elevated, rocking an oversized white shirt with wide, unbuttoned sleeves and baggy jeans to maximum effect. A white shirt might feel formal, but Naomi Campbell's look proves just how easily a classic button-down can be paired with street-style staples and modern touches.

The supermodel paired her crisp white shirt with a bomber jacket, pulling the sleeves through to give them an exaggerated flair and give an easy way of adding a unique touch to an outfit.

Worn a bit longer, the shirt almost passes for a short dress as she finishes the look with super skinny jeans, creating a streamlined look.

Kourtney Kardashian

In 2022, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, made their Met Gala debut together, and their looks were designed to mirror one another.

Wearing coordinating outfits by Thom Browne, Travis wore a more traditional black suit, whereas Kourtney wore a cropped version of the button-down, featuring a short tie worn loose around her shoulders, with a full high-waisted skirt with a white waistband and asymmetric black A-line skirt.

Helen Mirren

A white shirt allows more flexibility for a statement piece elsewhere in the ensemble, as Dame Helen Mirren showcased perfectly in 2019.

There are so many options when it comes to choosing new dresses for spring, but as a fashion editor, I’d say the best is a shirt dress. The crisp collared style has a classic feel to it, yet still manages to look contemporary. I firmly believe that every summer capsule wardrobe should include one, and I promise that if you invest in one now, you’ll get plenty of wear out of it.

If you need some style inspiration, look to A-lister Jennifer Aniston, who proves how effortlessly chic they can be. One of my favourite looks from the Hollywood star was this black dress by Loewe, which she wore back in 2019. Jennifer styled it up perfectly with just a pair of strappy black heels, and voila!

It’s rare to see the star wearing a maxi-length dress by day, but this black and brown number looked so elegant, with its flattering tailored fit and button front. It still feels fresh today and works with the spring/summer fashion trends we're seeing right now, plus it is seriously easy to recreate.

Sadly, Jennifer’s particular dress isn’t available anymore, but you can get your hands on this very similar style by the same designer, which will make an equally wise investment. How to style a shirt dress

Wondering what makes a shirt dress so special? Most often fitted at the top with a looser skirt, they complement most body shapes, plus the button-fastenings and collared neckline add a sharpness that means they can easily be dressed up for work or an event with heels and a clutch.

The breezy fabrics and longer length also lend themselves well to daytime dressing, and when buddied up with your best white trainers and a denim jacket, it can suddenly feel casual and cool. You can style it up in a multitude of ways to suit your plans and personal look.

As I mentioned, the shirt dress is a wonderfully versatile piece to have in your fashion arsenal, and it can be pulled out, ready to wear for many occasions. To give it a different spin each time you wear it, you could try adding a patterned or embellished belt to break up the colour, or layering your shirt dress over a Breton striped top on chillier days for a more casual feel.

You can take your piece into the autumn months too – simply layer over a fine knit roll neck and finish with your best knee high boots. The styling options really are endless.

Carole Middleton’s high-waisted jeans and satin shirt were a sophisticated combination that’s still right on trend for 2025.

We all love jeans for their comfort factor and more relaxed feel but you don’t have to cast your favourite pairs aside when you want a more sophisticated look. Tailored trousers are great but jeans can be dressed up easily and Carole Middleton is the expert at creating smart-casual outfits with them. Her high-waisted deep blue jeans that she wore in a picture for her former business, Party Pieces, back in 2021 are a gorgeous example of this - and they’re right on trend for 2025 too! Denim trends come and go but for 2025 darker washes are officially back.

This is great news for those of us who love indigo or midnight blue washes and Carole tends to favour darker shades too. They naturally feel more formal and her jeans from 2021 were deep blue, with statement buttons on the front. We couldn’t see much of them in the picture taken by photographer Liz Mcauley but they made a real impact.

Recreate Carole Middleton's Look

The buttons looked to be tortoiseshell and had a shiny finish which was a lovely contrast against the blue denim. The dark blue shade of Carole’s jeans is one of those spring/summer fashion trends for 2025 we can get behind as it’s easy to dress up with tailored jackets and heels and doesn’t seem as casual as light-wash denim.

The Princess of Wales’s mother has a generally smart-casual style and her jeans would give a polished edge to an off-duty outfit too. We couldn’t see the shape of the bottom of this pair, but from the waistband it looks as though they might have been wide-leg or straight-leg jeans. These are quite different to her beloved skinny jeans but Carole has stepped out in looser styles in recent years, showing that she’s not unwaveringly loyal to this streamlined shape.

The buttons on her jeans were arranged in a neat square formation and were very distinctive and vintage-esque. We’d always recommend going for a high-rise cut like Carole’s jeans if you want to accentuate your waist. High-waisted jeans are also great when you want to tuck in your tops to create a streamlined silhouette.

She wore her jeans with a satin shirt in the Party Pieces picture. It had a feminine pussybow neckline, flowing sleeves and delicate pleats at the front giving it extra structure. The soft champagne colour was complemented by the sheen of the fabric and we can imagine Carole wearing this as part of different date night outfits.

Satin always feels quite glamorous and it continues to be very popular in 2025, with everything from satin skirts to slip dresses and nightwear making an appearance on the high street. Paired with denim and you’re on to a winning outfit formula - as Carole Middleton showed in 2021. She accessorised with subtle pearl drop earrings and we would have worn suede ankle boots or ballet flats to complete this ensemble.

The Duchess of Edinburgh brought her signature style to the Big Apple and her brown blazer and pink satin shirt was a gorgeous combination.

As much as we love seeing the royals step out in elegant midi dresses from the best British clothing brands, the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess of Wales’s workwear wardrobe is dominated by tailoring. More than ever in recent years we’ve seen them opting for smart blazers and trousers when they’re undertaking engagements but that doesn’t mean they can’t have fun with their style. Duchess Sophie mixed chocolate brown and pink together during her trip to New York on 11th March and whilst it was an unexpected combination, it worked so well.

The King’s sister-in-law traveled to the US last week as Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, Champion of the UN’s Women, Peace and Security agenda and a supporter of the UK’s Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative. During her visit, she delivered a speech at a UN Friends of Vision meeting.

It was double-breasted, though the Duchess of Edinburgh wore it open in photos shared by the Royal Family, and was made from very fine wool. This made it perfect for a chilly March day and as we move away from needing coats, blazers become a key staple in our spring capsule wardrobe too. The deep chocolate brown shade of this one is very on-trend for 2025 and brown is a softer alternative to black but still equally versatile.

You could wear a brown blazer like hers with blue jeans, a light knit and trainers for an everyday, smart-casual style or dress it up with trousers and a shirt. The Duchess took the latter approach in New York and wore her jacket with a hot pink satin shirt from Vince and Victoria Beckham Alina trousers in tobacco brown.

The contrast of the muted brown tones and the fun pink hue was lovely and the shirt brightened the colour palette of her outfit and made it feel more spring-like. We wouldn’t have considered wearing chocolate brown and pink together before, but the warm undertones complemented each other and there was only one pop of colour.

This is a great tip if you want to wear a brighter shade - pick just a key item or two and keep the rest of your ensemble neutral. Although some of us might not be as drawn to a larger heart print piece for wearing day-to-day, the delicacy of the pattern on Clodagh’s shirt made it feel more sophisticated and elegant. The combination of the neutral white and cherry red together also softened the pattern slightly.

The chef made her shirt more relaxed by rolling up the sleeves and unbuttoning the collar. This is also how we love to wear fitted shirts during the day, but for date night outfits you can go for a more formal approach and tuck your shirt into a midi skirt or crisp tailored trousers.

If you’ve never been sure about how to wear prints then a shirt like Clodagh McKenna’s is a simple place to start and polka dots, stripes and bolder animal prints are gorgeous alternatives to romantic hearts.

In early spring you can layer a vest underneath for extra warmth and printed shirts make a refreshing change after months of knitwear. The chef tucked her shirt into a pair of Donna Ida flared jeans that ticked all our boxes for a ‘jeans and a nice top’ ensemble. They are an investment piece and come in different washes, but hers were a deeper indigo shade. When we wear a more fitted top like Clodagh’s shirt, we tend to style it with looser trousers or jeans and it helps balance out a silhouette perfectly. Her outfit also reminded us that darker denim washes still have their place in spring to give an outfit a smarter edge.

She finished off her look with black New Look boots that could just be seen poking out from underneath her flares, as well as layered gold jewellery from Annoushka. Just when we thought we’d already found our favourite outfit combinations to make with our best winter boots, Helen Skelton has inspired us with a look that will work so well as we move into spring. The outdoor-loving broadcaster appeared on Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes on BBC 2 on 24th February in an episode filmed in the Lake District. Her outfit for the occasion couldn’t have been more perfect as her denim shirt, cream cargo trousers and shearling boots were practical but still looked very put-together.

The shirt was a light blue wash which always feels very relaxed and summery and Helen wore it with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows which accentuated this casualness even more. She left a few buttons undone at the top and layered a black crew neck T-shirt underneath the shirt.

This is the beauty of a denim shirt as whilst they work perfectly as a top in their own right, they are also easy to throw over a T-shirt or vest top for a bit more warmth on a chilly spring day. We can’t help feeling that a denim shirt is the everyday equivalent of a plain white shirt when it comes to versatility and timelessness.

Whilst not everyone would want to wear a crisp white shirt for a low-key outing, a denim shirt can be swapped into your outfit instead. They’re great for wearing with jeans for a double denim look and if you’re not as keen on this pairing, Helen Skelton’s trousers are a comfy alternative. Cargo trousers and jeans have been so popular in recent months and her cargo trousers were a light beige tone and tapered at the bottom.

This allowed her to effortlessly tuck them into her shearling-lined boots. We suspect that the Countryfile star was wearing a pair of the Nanette boots by Grenson - in our opinion one of the best British clothing brands when you want high-quality, beautifully-made shoes - however the most similar colourway is now sadly out of stock. If these are her shoes, then they are hiking boots and when Helen is in the great outdoors she tends to prefer sturdy walking boots rather than fashion boots.

The shearling tongue running up the front of Helen Skelton’s boots also reminds us of Sorel snow boots, many of which are in the sale right now. Whatever the brand, her footwear looked very cosy and the contrast of the tan boot with the white shearling and light laces was stunning.

Keeping to a paler neutral tone with her shoes also complemented her beige trousers and Helen brought some glamour with her signature gold jewellery. She loves a gold necklace or two and for her episode of Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes she layered a few different ones over her T-shirt and added a gold bracelet too.

Carole Middleton’s high-waisted jeans and elegant satin shirt are a match made in style heaven for party season.

If anyone knows how to take the classic "jeans and a nice top" combination to the next level, surely it has to be Carole Middleton? The Princess of Wales’s mum might be more often seen wearing flowing midi dresses to summer events like Wimbledon, but outside of formal occasions she’s known for loving her denim pieces. We used to see her step out in streamlined skinny jeans which might not be in everyone’s winter capsule wardrobe, but in recent years Carole has mixed up her jeans a lot more. She’s started to love more straight and wide leg designs and her vintage-style high waisted jeans are one of our favourites.

Carole Middleton wore these jeans back in 2021 in a picture posted on the Instagram account of her former business, Party Pieces. Taken by photographer Liz Mcauley, the picture was shared ahead of the Christmas countdown and Carole looked suitably festive but laid-back in blue denim jeans with button detailing and a satin shirt.

Whilst black and indigo jeans might be especially popular in the winter, you should never pack away your blue denim as mid-blue jeans like Carole’s are still such a chic choice. They instantly have a more relaxed edge to them than darker washes, which works so well if you have a smarter top and want to balance it out for the daytime.

Mid-blue jeans are also not quite as casual as light wash blue jeans and so they’re a great choice if you want an all-rounder pair that can easily be dressed up or down. We’re not surprised that Carole favours this tone as her signature style is the epitome of smart-casual and her vintage style jeans had a high waisted cut that’s so flattering if you want to accentuate your waist.

Perhaps their most distinctive feature, though, was the buttons on the front which were made into a stunning feature in their own right, rather than just a fastening. Although we sadly only got a glimpse of Carole’s jeans in the 2021 picture, it appeared as though the buttons were arranged in a square shape and they gave them a vintage feel.

This couldn’t be more different to her sleek skinny jeans, but it shows that whilst it might be tricky to step away from our favourite style when you’ve found the best jeans for your body type, it’s definitely worth trying different options. The buttons were tortoiseshell and were a pretty contrast against the blue of the denim.

It wasn’t clear from the picture what the trouser legs of Carole Middleton’s high-waisted jeans looked like. However, from the way the top of them looked, we think it’s possible that they were straight or wide leg jeans which would work with the vintage style buttons. Wider legs make these jeans so comfortable to wear and they look particularly beautiful with a tighter top.

Carole opted to tuck in her satin blouse which was a soft champagne-gold tone. The sheen of satin instantly gives any outfit a more glamorous edge and the pussybow neckline and flowing sleeves were so elegant. The champagne shade was neutral enough to be easy to style but still felt special. A pair of delicate pearl drop earrings finished off Carole’s look and we would have added a pair of gold heels for the evening or black boots for the daytime.

Claudia Winkleman's bold shirt was way ahead of this year's huge leopard print resurgence and it’s the perfect statement item.

The leopard print trend has been everywhere this year and as trends go, it’s one of the most timeless as it comes back year after year. Because of this, many of us will already have a leopard print item in our wardrobes that we’ve had for quite a while, whether it’s a pair of leopard print shoes or one of our best wool jumpers in this pattern. The same is true for Claudia Winkleman and whether or not she still reaches for it, her leopard print shirt from 2016 was ahead of the 2024 trend. The TV star attended the The Serpentine Summer Party co-hosted by Tommy Hilfiger that year in an outfit that would also be a stunning look for an autumnal evening out.

Either way, the contrasting polka dot and leopard print patterns was a fun touch and even though both are so different, the neutral colour palette of the scarf and shirt meant they worked together.

For those wondering how to style leopard print, the tone of the pattern is an important factor. Leopard prints can range from having warm golds, browns and ambers in them, to being very cool-toned or even being just black and white. Claudia’s leopard print over shirt had a warm chestnut brown shade on it, as well as the black rosettes and creamy yellow background hue.

This meant it was a lovely balance between cool and warm tones and as a result was very versatile and easy to style with plenty of different colours. However, as we all know, Claudia Winkleman particularly loves wearing darker tones and for the Serpentine Summer Party she paired her shirt with black ankle grazer trousers.

The smart tailored design helped to balance out the boldness of her shirt and she finished off her outfit with a pair of sensational gold Gucci shoes. They were a cross between a loafer and court shoe and were made that bit more statement thanks to the bright metallic colour, the GG branding and the high-up tongue of the shoes.

This was a stand-out yet still very easy-to-wear look from Claudia and she showed how easily leopard print can work for a more formal event too. Earlier this week, the Danish royal visited Vejle Harbour in Denmark as part of her's and King Frederik's summer tour, stepping out in an appropriately nautical-inspired outfit for the occasion.

Channeling vintage glamour, Mary looked stunning in a navy, A-line polka-dot midi skirt and cropped, collarless blazer from Prada. Juxtaposing the dainty pattern on the skirt, which is from the brand Baum und Pferdgarten, Mary opted for a printed blouse from Proenza Schouler. The abstract pattern on the blouse brought a modern twist to the nautical style, adding some texture and fun into the outfit.

But the real star of the show here is Mary's oversized hat - we love it! While the sun didn't make much of an appearance during Mary's visit, the accessory ensured her hair wasn't billowing all over the place and we can see stylish hats like this becoming an autumn staple for those windy days where your strands just can't be tamed.

The casual outfit comes as Queen Letizia and her husband King Felipe VI come to the end of their annual summer holiday. The pair have, as has become tradition for them, stepped away from royal duties for a family break while their children are away from school, though their break was interrupted by the Paris Olympics this year which they attended in Paris as part of their official duties.

Stepping out at a reception for the Olympic athletes in Paris last month, Letizia looked gorgeous in a dreamy head-to-toe Dior outfit and a pair of low-block heels. The shoes were a stunning though practical choice for the royal as she continues to suffer with chronic foot pain, something that's keeping the many stillettos that make up her collection from making an appearance.

We're not complaining though! Letizia's brilliant collection of flats has given us so much inspiration for our shoe capsule wardrobes as she's been pictured in some of the best white trainers and most stylish sandals on the market.

Meghan Markle wore a bronze shirt and trousers in Colombia and we’ve been convinced to add metallic shades into our style rotation.

If you love wearing black, white and beige tones but sometimes want something a little bolder, then metallics are an underrated choice to add a special touch to an outfit. Whilst silver is perhaps the most statement metallic hue, bronze and gold have such a warm undertone to them and work with both neutrals and vibrant colours. Many of us will have metallic accessories in our summer capsule wardrobe, but Meghan Markle has just made a case for us expanding our metallic collection. Stepping out with Prince Harry for the first day of their visit to Colombia, Meghan wowed in a bronze-brown outfit that would rival the best wedding guest dresses.

She wore a Victoria Beckham silk shirt in a rust-brown shade that had a bronze undertone to it in the light as she attended the 'Responsible Digital Future' forum at EAN University in Bogota. The Duchess of Sussex paired this beautiful staple with wide-leg satin trousers from La Ligne.

The sheen of these trousers really enhances the bronze colour, but isn’t at all sparkly like some metallic pieces can often be. This is a lovely way to wear metallics when you don’t want them to be overpowering or too much for daytime wear. Equally, Meghan’s trousers could be elevated even more for a special evening out with a silky cami top.

Her shirt was the perfect style choice for this forum in Colombia as the similar shades gave Meghan’s outfit a very cohesive, put-together feel. The classic silhouette, with the smart collar and long sleeves ending in elongated cuffs also made it that bit more formal and she balanced this by undoing a few buttons.

This ensured her outfit was the perfect smart-casual option for an official appearance and just like the trousers, her shirt could easily be mixed and matched with other pieces in her wardrobe.

This is partially down to the timeless design, but the colour is also so wearable and would really pop against blue denim jeans or white linen trousers. For a more low-key day out near her and Prince Harry’s California home the Duchess might have chosen her best white trainers from Veja, but in Bogata she wore Aquazzura suede sandals. 

They had a practical block heel which is perfect if you want a bit more height, but don’t want to brave the discomfort of stilettos. The ‘cognac brown’ colour was slightly paler than Meghan’s bronze shirt and trousers and this subtle contrast was so effective.

Perhaps wanting to keep her glossy brunette hair out of her face during this important event, the Duchess of Sussex went for a voluminous ponytail. This isn’t a style we see massively often from her as she tends to prefer keeping her hair loose, in waves.

In Colombia she also had her signature waves, but pulled her hair into a high ponytail and wrapped a piece of hair around the band securing it, to give it a seamless look. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in Colombia for four days, meaning there are still plenty of outfits to see from Meghan before they return to the US too. 

They are being hosted - and were invited to visit - by Colombia’s Vice-President Francia Márquez. As reported by the BBC they spent Day 1 of their visit talking with teenagers about the impact social media has and taking part in the Responsible Digital Future summit, where they discussed AI and the spread of misinformation online.

Sometimes all we want is to look put-together yet feel comfy for running errands or meeting up with friends and Katie Holmes stepped out in New York on 11th August wearing an outfit that nails this brief perfectly. Braving the hot weather, she reached for some more transitional pieces in her summer capsule wardrobe and opted for an oversized striped shirt with wide-leg joggers and chunky fisherman sandals. It might seem like joggers are a very relaxed choice for day-to-day, but just because they don’t have the formality of your best jumpsuits or dresses doesn’t mean they can’t be styled in a more elevated way.

This gave them a smarter feel like that of trousers, more so than loungewear, and Katie chose to wear them with an oversized shirt. Many of us will have a striped shirt - or several - in our collection and the Hollywood star went for a neutral beige shirt with white and yellow stripes.

As with any shirt you can style it as formally or as casually as you like and on this sunny day in New York, Katie left her shirt unbuttoned at the top. This meant that the collar lay open in such a chic, fuss-free way and she also didn’t seem to have buttoned it at the very bottom either. 

Whilst you could easily fully tuck in a shirt like this, Katie let her top drape effortlessly over the top of her joggers and rolled up the sleeves on both sides until they were just below her elbows. Had she added a pair of her best white trainers with this shirt and jogger combination it still would’ve looked stunning, but a little less fashion-forward than it did with her Cos fisherman sandals.

These added a textural contrast into her look as they were the brown suede ones and this warm-toned neutral looked gorgeous with the colour palette of Katie Holmes’s shirt. The woven straps were so pretty and this flat design is very practical and comfortable to wear all day long. Chunky sandals have also been increasingly popular in recent years and these gave Katie's otherwise quite classic look a contemporary edge. This was echoed with her large, square-framed brown sunglasses and her luxurious light brown Khaite Amelia tote bag.

Held in the crook of her arm, this tote bag worked so well with the rest of Katie Holmes’s outfit. Sometimes all we want is a simple summer outfit that takes minimal effort to style but looks stunning every time and we’ve just found a new favourite combination. TV presenter Alex Jones wore the casual day-to-day look of dreams in a recent Instagram video which saw her giving fans a sneak peek of what she carries in her bag. At the moment that bag is a gorgeous raffia tote bag that’s perfect for the season and Alex opted to wear jeans and a green and white striped shirt to film the video. Once you’ve found the best jeans for your body type, they soon become a staple in your wardrobe and these ones had a high waisted fit and were light wash.

If you’re not a fan of white jeans outfits as they can be tricky to put together, then wearing some light blue jeans can give an equally summery feel to an outfit. Some of the best handbags on Amazon are tote bags for a reason and although we sadly couldn’t see what shoes Alex was wearing in this video, a pair of matching raffia heels or sliders would be gorgeous. Alternatively, her best white trainers would accentuate the summer casual feel of this look and the TV star added some chunky gold chain necklaces and a watch.

As the base of an outfit a pair of jeans and a shirt is such an easy-to-style option, whichever colours you choose. These light wash jeans are Alex’s current favourites as earlier in July she wore what look to be the same ones in another Instagram post as she packed to move house. When it comes to incorporating patterns into your summer capsule wardrobe some of the most timeless and easy-to-wear of all are stripes and spots so it’s perhaps no surprise that the Royal Family are big fans of both. Last year Zara Tindall’s striped shirt dress and gorgeous Aspinal bag caught our eye as she attended Wimbledon with her husband Mike. The couple have regularly attended the championships over the years but this has to be one of our favourite looks from the King’s niece. It was a perfect occasion wear outfit that would look just as beautiful dressed down with a pair of her best white trainers and a denim jacket layered over the top.

Unsurprisingly for Wimbledon, Zara styled her navy and white striped ME+EM dress in a more elevated, formal way. Falling to an elegant midi length on her, this dress is described as a maxi dress by the brand. It had all the elements we love about a classic shirt dress design - the pointed collar, long sleeves and pockets on the bodice.

Zara’s striped shirt dress had a relaxed fit-and-flare silhouette and a tie-waist belt incorporated into the dress which accentuated her waist in such a flattering way. She wore the piece with a few buttons undone at the top to give it more of a smart-casual feel and although she wasn’t pictured using them, the Fluid Stripe Maxi Shirt Dress has pockets.

If you want to invest in a dress for your wardrobe then going neutral is often a great choice. Shades like black, white, camel and navy can effortlessly be styled with so many other colours. The combination of the deep navy and white on Zara’s dress was so gorgeous and ensured that the bolder print was still incredibly wearable. The equestrian royal stuck to what she knows with her bag which was a chevron raffia crossbody design from her go-to brand, Aspinal of London.  

The exact handbag she wore to Wimbledon last year might now not be available, but Aspinal still sells a £350 Raffia Crossbody bag and it even comes in a similar tan and raffia colourway. This size of bag is great for all your essentials and if you want to be hands-free during the day as Zara likely did for a day at Wimbledon. Tan tones and raffia are so popular in the summer and Zara’s bag worked beautifully with her striped dress. She also copied Carole Middleton’s easy styling trick for achieving a polished outfit and matched the colours of her espadrille wedges to her bag.

She also brought a practical fedora hat with her to help shield her head from the sunshine, a white jacket in case of chilly breezes and added a pair of brown sunglasses. Zara’s short blonde hair was loose and straight for Wimbledon and keeping her overall look so pared-back added to its sense of sophistication.

Stripes might not be something we see her wear all the time but this outing showed how effective they can be at making a real style statement. We can’t help hoping we see her reach into her wardrobe for this ME+EM piece once again, or into her accessory collection for her Aspinal bag, if she attends Wimbledon 2024.

Helen Skelton's brilliant pairing of a regal puffed sleeve shirt and tracksuit bottoms has us desperate to recreate the ultimate business casual look.  

Anyone who works from home can tell you that business on top, 'comfies' on bottom (including the best white trainers) is the staple uniform. But does that uniform ever see the light of day? Usually not. But Helen Skelton has us rethinking that choice. 

For an appearance on comedians James Acaster and Ed Gamble's Off Menu Podcast, the presenter brilliantly paired a a smart, white button down shirt with a juxtaposing pair of tracksuit trousers and the look shouldn't work...but it really does.

The white button down shirt appears to be made of a light, crepe fabric with cuffed sleeves that dramatically puff out into little ruffles. There's also some simple pleat detailing down the front, framing the shirt's contrasting black buttons and adding interest to the simple piece.

While many would think to dress up the shirt with a midi skirt or the best jeans for your body type, Helen opted instead for some green, straight-legged tracksuit trousers with an elasticated waist.

It would undoubtedly work in adding another sultry accessory to the outfit where the jewellery and other accessories have been kept minimal, though a black sandal or flat would work equally well. 

This suit look is not, by far, the first power suit look we've seen from the actress. In fact, it's not even the first red power suit look we've seen from her this year! She recently wore another red power suit, opting for a floral shirt under her jacket and it gave the suit a completely different feel.

The khaki colour isn’t one of the biggest spring/summer fashion colour trends for 2024 but it’s such a fabulous shade to wear if you love neutrals but want to step outside your colour palette comfort zone a little bit this summer. This tone of green is earthy and the warm undertones in it means it works with so many other neutrals like camel, white and black.

Alison wore her dress unbuttoned a little at the top which gave it a more casual feel and in the video shared on Instagram on 10th May, we saw her fun backless loafers. If you’re uncertain about wearing heels for summer events like weddings or garden parties then loafers are a great alternative.

They’re smart without being too formal and backless styles make these an especially easy slip-on choice for the warmer months too. Alison Hammond’s were white with a fun gold trim across the front and keeping things to just a few key colours helped make her outfit on This Morning look very put-together and sophisticated.

She added gold accessories which matched the decoration on her loafers and we particularly admire what looks to be a gold bangle. Gold jewellery is always a timeless addition to an outfit and a bangle is a lovely choice for a touch of glamour that’s easily visible. Alison accentuated this sense of glamour with her subtle smokey eye makeup and her glossy lipstick.

This was such an easy yet elegant outfit for hosting This Morning during the day though with a crossbody bag and some more gold jewellery it would also look just as stunning for an evening out. 

To make a khaki dress like Alison’s more formal you could swap the loafers for a pair of heeled sandals or wedges, but a pair of metallic loafers would also create a similar feel. Add a blazer for chilly nights or a denim jacket over the top for daytime excursions and you’re good to go all summer long with this combination.

If you're keen to replicate Carole's highlighted look for summer, Nicole suggests asking your hairdresser for tactically placed balayage or face-brightening money pieces, depending on how much blonde suits you. 

"For a lifted look like Carole’s, focus the highlights on the crown of the head and ask your stylist to blend the colour by applying a freehand balayage technique through the mid-lengths to ends for a natural look.

"You can also ask for face-framing 'money pieces' which soften your features and add more direct warmth to the complexion."

It's been a busy week for J.Lo, hosting the Met Gala on Monday in New York, before jetting off to spend some time in Europe. The singer has been seen out and about in Paris over the last few days, and her outfits have been everything we've come to expect from J.Lo – effortlessly chic.
